Anybody else have trouble with Ravage's hips not springing out all the way? I need to pull his hips out to lengthen his body. I might just have a dud though, so want to check with everybody else first, before I go returning them or not.

Yea Ravage doesn't transform all the way. Even have to fold his hind legs out to stand him. Cool gimmick, but not executed perfectly with Ravage. But considering they all have the same alt mode, still cool how they managed to get 3 different robot modes, 4 if you include Ratbat :p

Kinda an accidental purchase for me and one spread-out over the last couple of weeks. It all started with acquiring the box from 1AZRAEL1 - just cause I love the box art, and then 'accidentally' stumbling across the toy at the last Parra Fair. As it didn't come with any accessories, I of course had to track them down... being the completist that I am :D. All I need now is the instructions (*wink* 1AZRAEL1 :p).

Funny thing is, this is a toy that I always wanted so it's a bit of an unsung grail item for me. It was also in virtually mint condition which made it hard to pass up.

No pics as yet, but over the weekend I picked up TFPRiDE Dark Energon Slicer Wheeljack for about 3500 yen (not too bad a price all things considered), and a loose complete (well, sans instructions etc, but the toy is complete) Magmatron for ~950 yen. I couldn't pass up a complete, good condition Magmatron for ~$11 AU.
And another Misato Katsuragi figurine/statuette.

Reissues aren't really ever called "reissues" by anyone, but that's just what they are. They're not just repackaging left over stock - they did that with that mail-away catalogue; I got Wheeljack, Ratchet and Thundercracker that way, they came in sealed baggies instead of their original boxes, but were otherwise the same toys (and not actual reissues per se). The Classic TFs on the other hand were reproductions of the originals, and there were minor mould differences such as in the copyright stampage which were either blank, or had different years stamped on them (e.g. 1990) - my G1 Prowl, Sideswipe and Tracks are Classic reissues -- Prowl has a blank square, Sideswipe has 1990 stamped and I don't remember what Tracks has (:p). Oh, and I have Classic Rollbar, Goldbug (which I've since customised), Dead End and Wildrider. Guys like the Throttlebots were really easy because their rub signs and rub sign indents were removed and replaced with regular logo stickers (and for some reason, Rollbar's window stickers are different from the original's too).

They were re-issued for Hasbro's European and Australasian markets as the G1 line was obviously slowing down, and as the article 5FDP linked to points out, it's just cheaper and easier than developing new product. It allowed me to pick up several toys that I missed out on the first time around, so I loved it. It was also a good time because I was only in primary school in the 1980s, so it was harder for me to get all the toys I wanted, but by 1990/91 I was old enough to have pocket money, so I was able to save and use my own allowance money to pick up reissues of toys that I missed out on as a younger child. At the time I had no idea what a reissue was -- I just thought these were the same toys as the originals in new packaging. :p And of course, reissues since 2000 until now have been great for us "Children of the 80s" as we've been able to use our adult disposable income to get them. :D Although last night I sat down and did the math for how much money I need to save up between now and March 30 for various Japanese toys... made my head spin! :eek: :p

I've always quite liked that mold, the transformation tries something different, and some of it turns out well, some not so well. while there's not a massive amount of articulation in the legs in robot mode, I think the Alt mode is really expressive, as long as you don't gank it up with the weapon. :D

The weapon certainly does look out of place on Grimlock's back, but on Overkill it's almost right! If only they gave him a second one, and both were all chromed-up, and were able to attach onto his sides ;)

SO we have TRU Masterpiece Optimus Prime, Masterpiece Lambor, TF Prime Airachnid, Rumble, Dead End, Kup, TF Prime First Edition Entertainment pack and Vehicons and Mattel Voltron Classic Black lion (Combined with his fellow lions in all their massive brightly coloured plastic glory) All right, he's not a Transformer buy my god. it's epic. All really, REALLY awesome toys. I wasn't expecting Lambor to be so small,but I love Sideswipe, and he is pretty awesome.
Airachnid is nowhere near as awful as people have said,but the hands do suck. The only one that dissapointed me was Kup. Kup is TINY. Frustratingly so. So much so that i pray to toy jesus that they won't repaint him as ironhide but rather give us an Ironhide voyager (which is highly unlikely due to Beast Hunters.)

I love Classic Grim's alt mode, it has and articulated tail and you can either have him 80's T-rex stomper with the tail dragging on the ground, or you can have him 90s onwards, balancing act with tail in the air. Brilliant!:D

The best thing about that mould is probably the in-build shoulder cannons. The mould has a really odd way of transforming the doors/front side panels that makes them pop off during transformation if you're not careful.


Just so you know, here are some pics showing the differences between the Hasbro Universe (right) and TakaraTOMY Henkei (left) versions of Prowl:

hmmm a bottle of Smirnoff next to the soy sauce ;);):D:p lolHe's got Autobot symbols on the arms/car sides, so anyone wanting to repurpose him will want some kind of Decepticon stickers of roughly equal size to cover them. I'm gonna use the spares that came with AM Breakdown and Soundwave.

The Smirnoff and the Tabasco are both steadfast companions in Odie's kitchen, they have regular parties with tomato juice (well, vegetable juice anyway). There's also usually one bottle of sake and one bottle of Kahlua on hand, and right now a bottle of Malibu is visiting for a while too - I got it to keep me company during a typhoon, but the typhoon ended up missing us so my "Drink Rum and Watch Pirates of the Caribbean" day got cancelled.
Japan is pretty convenient as far as alcohol goes, though it's hard to find any decent Aussie beer.

I got all of these for less than a large mcdonalds meal. A few parts are missing but I can't complain. Got them all from a cheap toy bargain bin.

Animated Magnus is missing a antenna/pole/stick thing on his head. His 2 knee caps and weapon. Other than that great condition.

Clench is missing his missiles and has some horrid sticker work. Anyone know how to get stickers off transformers without ruining them to much? As in totally remove the stickers.

Mirage is missing his weapon, but other than that his fine.

Along side that a nice handful of McDonalds toys :D:D:D

And in front 2 little transforming trains, I have no clue who they are. Or if they are even transformers? I'd love it if someone knew and could let me know what they actually are.

I've also only just noticed that the legion class figs are made in Vietnam whereas the deluxes are made in China.

They've been producing figures in Vietnam on and off for the last 4 or 5 years now. I think they even announced it, suggesting it was a measure to stop the knockoffs getting out of the Chinese factories before the legit figures were (I remember 2009 Depth Charge was out as a KO before the real thing).

For those interested:

- The cape is a separate piece to the shoulder armor and fully compatible with the MP03 mold.
- The new head can be swapped with the old MP03 head (as in you can 'upgrade' the head).
- The shoulder armor is not backwards compatible with MP03 (The shoulders are too thick on the older mold).
- The crown is also not compatible with the older MP03 head as it looks like he is wearing a big hat (plus it's purple not gold).
- For those that own a 3rd party coronation set for MP03: You will be able to use the shoulder armor with the new cape but you won't be able to use the gold crown on the new updated head.

Got Prime Knockout and Ratchet. For someone who doesn't care for the show I am sure getting a few toys. Knockout is a turd who should get has to sued for not looking a scrap like his packaging, while Ratchet is pretty decent.

I could be wrong, but I remember a while ago reading an article. Something about the instructions don't transform him correctly or something? So his chest plate is sitting incorrectly.

Na, found it on eBay for a fairly cheap price $28.00, shipping cost a bit thou as it was priority mailed so that cost me $36.00. So I guess was a not realy that cheap but I don't remember that we got this one here?

Expensive, yeah... mainly due to the G1 Megs. :) Everything else I got at good prices.

This mold was released in 2005 in Japan. Then this guy got later released by hasbrotoyshop in 2007:

With some subtle differences. The writing on the box is now all in English, the Pepsi symbol is different (American pepsi not Japanese pepsi) and the character is now Optimus Prime again (short smokestacks and all!). I never really liked the idea of OP capitulating to corporate greed (even though he's made by Hasbro - I realise the childish naiivity of my statement ;)) so Pepsi Convoy was the mold I was after.

I do remember seeing some Pepsi OPs in Target a few years back and it being the hasbro version. It was one of those molds that I can't bring myself to pickup due to those poor shortenned smokestacks. Just not right.
