Wow awesome! Nice color blending and shading between the amber and orange.

Very nice work, the colour scheme is really alien which fits the Nids. Good to see some miniatures posted up here.

And just to pad the thread a bit, here's my now rather old Daemon Prince, maybe I will take a pic of some more recent stuff soon.

Am about to start my 2nd 40k army... NECRONS!

Picked up 2 battleboxes and 3 destroyers to start things off. One of my buddies game me a Necron Lord that he bought a few years ago, as he's not going to use it. That gives me a valid FOC to start things off with.

Doing test colour schemes on some basic warriors ATM. If I get a chance/find the camera, I'll post them here.

Latest finished painted project, 3rd party Chaos Warriors. Because Hasbro isn't the only company who has 3rd parties doing a better job with their ideas than them.

That's cool, I haven't seen them before. Is that a unique 3rd party take on Chaos warriors or actually based on something?

I stopped playing 40K a few years ago when my main lot of shock troopers Terminator Wolf guard with 3 assault cannons was gutted by the new rules. Wolf guard Termies could have 1 heavy weapon for every 3 troops rounded down so I only needed 7 of them for the 3 heavy. I know they made them more mobile but MEH! I liked them how they were:(

Well its one wolf guard in five now for the heavy weapon choice.

Back in second edition 40k, Wolf guard could get ridiculous amounts of Assault Cannons and were so ridiculously overpowered everyone seemed to play them, So I stoped playing. Therefore I feel no sympathy for their loss of Assault Cannons. And Space Wolves are reportedly still really tough anyway.

I actually like the new GW paints so much that I will actually buy them at the store from time to time. About the only thing I will buy from their store really. The new formula for base colours is awesome, smooth and easy coverage. I could get PP paints upstairs for cheaper, but I hate the old PP paint pots.

I do like Valejo but they are hard to find locally for a a decent price.

Essentially yes they are a 3rd party Chaos Warriors, seeing as how GW can't actually own the concept of a big mutated armoured guy who is rotting while alive, it means other companies can make similar figures figures or add on parts that happen to fit in with their range. Interesting to note that they now give all there new fantasy units unique names "Cypt Ghouls" so they can copyright them, alla "Autobot Jazz".

Also I just a day ago learned the new Warriors of Chaos book is out next month, which is very unfair. I can go years without paying much heed to GW new releases, but in 2012 and 2013 they have now released new stuff for 4 of my existing armies.

Guys,

If the new rules have f*ked your army, just don't use the new rules. Play with the old books. My nid army is made from 3 books, and i will use all 3 when playing when i have finalised my creations.
Custom dudes require a custom game.

Also... Depthcharge has been commanding my Nids...

Some great looking mini's posted here, it is sort of making me want to build an army again.

I used to have a decent space wolves army which I sold when I got into warmahordes which I have given away as it was hard to get a game back then (although this seems to have changed with it becoming more popular now).

I am tempted to start a blood angels arny but I got a shock last night and saw the current prices, it is quite expensive these days to build a decent size army.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Where do you get your cheap stuff from? Does anyone still play 40k in 40 mins? I was thinking that may be a cheaper way to get back into it.

Really? I didn't find them to be OP'ed because if you put that many points into 1 unit they were a magnet for the fireworks. I constantly got touched up by Tau and the Eldar, Necrons weren't too bad due to the amount of power weapons you could stick in a squad;). When I played on a regular basis there wasn't that many Wolf players (Regular ones), Somewhere between 2-4 I think. I didn't play them because I thought I was going to win with them, I played with them because I liked their back story and Viking look:)

Showing my age here, but I refer to 2nd ED a time before Tau even existed and Wolf Guard could take one assault cannon for each miniature, I never really understood why Space Wolves would have access to more Assault Cannons than any other Marine Chapter.

I completely agree with your sentiment about playing for their look and back story though. I play Goff orks who are incapable of holding ground and will always try to get to grips with enemy, because staying put is for wimps and unGoff like. While when I play as Night Lords I actively try to avoid fair fights and try to overwhelm vulnerable targets. Injecting some memorable cinematic moments is far better than winning.

As promised...

These are the four test Warriors for my soon to be Necron army.

From Left to Right assuming my pics are shit and you can't tell...
Bronze, Gold, Traditional and last but not least... my DecptiCron prototype.

Let me know what you guys think.

obviously at some stage I have to pick one scheme and go with it... not really sure which one at the moment cos I like them all. :D

this seems to be the only colours people do with necrons, i would dare you to go furturistic and away from the terminator theme if you are looking for something different. If not, then the best way is to pick the colours of the planet you want them to come from. You don't need to create a story or anything like that, but make your guys look like they match the terrain they've just hatched into.

Nids are getting a catachan devil...
