View Full Version : The Hasbro G1 Toy Checklist

I compiled this list a few years ago to keep track of how "complete" my G1 collection was, purely to satiate my own personal curiosity. It's a pretty simple checklist, only based on each "toy character" and doesn't include variants, reissues or anything like that. They all just count as the same "toy character. Trying to include variants, versions and stuff gets complicated and messy, so as far as this list is concerned, if you have at least one version of a toy, then you have that toy.

So if anyone else is interested in calculating how "complete" their Hasbro G1 collection is, feel free to use this list if you like. :)

And just for optional fun, you may...
1. Post your current G1 collection count (based on this list)
2. Vote on how complete your G1 collection is (to the nearest match).
3. Tell us how complete you would realistically WANT your collection to be. Let's face it, we're not all G1 completists. I'm actually 45 figures short of a complete G1 collection, but there are only 16 G1 toys that I actually want... the other 29 I can live without.

So for me...

How complete is my G1 collection?
According to this list, I have 405 G1 Transformers. So my G1 collection is 90% complete.

How complete do I want my G1 collection to be?
If I can get the 15 G1 TFs that I want, then I would have 420 G1 TFs, making my collection 93% complete. So yeah, 93% completeness would be a "complete" G1 collection for me. :)

Going via your counting method, I came up at 56.222r percent complete.

I must say my counting method differs from yours, you count a lot that I don't count or classify as G2. And you don't count a lot that I do count such as Targetmaster partners separately. But you already knew that and this is your thread by your rules :) :D ;) :p

I have 91 G1 figures so that would mean I only have about 20% of the figures ever released :o Having said that though, I am in no way a completist and only have an interest in the characters that appeal to me. Also, in all honesty, I have very little interest in anything that came post TF:TM / Season 3 of the cartoon. As most toys were based off the animation models instead of the other way around (the way it was prior to the animated movie), they were executed quite poorly. Not to mention the characters were weak and for the most part annoying (yes, I'm looking at you Rodimus!).

Everything in that list is G1, there's no G2. Some of the 1993 G1 toys were later repackaged as G2 (hence referred to as G1.5 by fans), but they were originally G1 toys. :) I haven't at all included any toys that were exclusively G2 (e.g. 1993 Dinobots, 1993 Constructicons etc.)

Yeah, but percentage-wise it works out the same. :) Under the current system, I have 405/450, or 90%. If I were to include Targetmaster/Headmasters/Powermaster partners, I would have 451/501, or 90%. So it's the same either way. ;)

Goki, I can't believe that Time Warrior isn't on this list! With a solid seven points of articulation, he surely counts as a figure :p

Going on this list I have 90 figures, but I've only ever really been after the 84 and 85 lines with a few relevant (to me anyway) characters from the 86 line so realistically I'm just about done with actual G1 characters, I've shifted my focus towards merchendise, but I don't even know where to begin on a complete list of that.

hmmm those minispies... were they sold separately on their own? I thought they were just packaged along with the minibots kinda like a bonus promo figure so I didn't bother getting any of em or including them in the count. I didn't consider them as counted like, you know, the Powerdashers. Also the 1993 figures in that list I consider as G2 already, even the Generations book list em as such :p alternate name and such.

OH well, I have them anyways...

I have from your list 432 figures - So im missing 18 figures
made up of
Minispies -4
Fort Max - 1
Overlord - 1
new constructicons (yellow/ gray) - 4
Motorvators - 3
AM elite - though this is Euro exclusive release figures - should we then be including the Jap releases in the list? - 2
AM Sideswipe - 1
Rescue bot(breastmaster repaints) - 2

so my collection is 96% complete by your listing

But for me I actually follow only the listing made in Mark Bellomo's Guidebook - much, much simpler. No gray area released figures - i.e. G1.5 figs, no Euro figures (although I got most em too) If I could get me an Overlord and FortMax ( in my collection and an Encore will do - no oppositional remarks can change that hehehe) I can consider my collection complete....

Yeah, that's why I felt it was also important to ask the question of how much of G1 people actually want to collect, as I'd say most G1 fans aren't full completists. :)

So for me, a 93% complete collection would be it for me. The remaining 7% aren't really relevant to me. So say if you wanted to collect all of 1984-85 and let's say roughly half of 1986, that'd be about 111 toys on this list, so by that standard you'd be aiming to collect a 25% complete G1 collection. So I guess one way to phrase the question might be, "When will you be finished collecting G1?" For me it'll be when I hit 93% completion, for others maybe 25%, and for some it may be that elusive 100%! :)

liegeprime doesn't have a fort max.i can't believe that.but anyway good work on the 96% completion of G1.i'm at only 70% but i also take my G1 from the same book.it's just easier.i've actually stopped collecting G1 atm as im just buying the other lines atm.but i did get shockwave , sunstreaker and a encore G1 megatron who is a different colour than the original.

AM Elites were also released in Australasia. We're not including Japanese releases, as this is just a Hasbro G1 list. :) It includes everything Hasbro -- US, EU etc. Australia got most of what was released in both markets, with some exceptions like the Deluxe Insecticons, Shockwave, Targetmaster Hot Rod/Kup/Blurr/Cyclonus/Scourge etc. -- but I've just included all things G1 Hasbro.

Reissues count for the purposes of this list, so go ahead and include your Encores etc. :D

And just for optional fun, you may...
1. Post your current G1 collection count (based on this list)

248 total

248/450 = 55% Didnt realise how many toys post 1989 there were!

2. Vote on how complete your G1 collection is (to the nearest match).

Based on this list 55% - voted

3. Tell us how complete you would realistically WANT your collection to be.

My personal collection aim is:

1. All figures 1984-89 (no micromasters or action masters) - based on this goal i think i have 248/260
2. Euro exclusives (non-action masters)
3. Japanese exclusive G1s (this is the killer!)

Eventually I may look into micromasters/Action masters and even some of the cooler g2 stuff

Just a quick note about this list

Looks like this list includes US + Euro G1. What about Japanese G1? I know they werent released here, but a few US toys were not released here either (Fort max, some targetmasters etc). Shouldnt the list include an entire G1 line for it to be complete?

liegeprime doesn't have a fort max.i can't believe that.but anyway good work on the 96% completion of G1.i'm at only 70% but i also take my G1 from the same book.it's just easier.i've actually stopped collecting G1 atm as im just buying the other lines atm.but i did get shockwave , sunstreaker and a encore G1 megatron who is a different colour than the original.

Thanks iamirondude, but before the announcement of Encore Fort Max, I got me a Brave max and souped it up with all the missing accessories included in Fort Max - the pistols, and Drone bots... because I prefer his colors really. Especially in city mode he really looks the part, unlike the dull gray and blue of Fort Max. But, with the Encore coming out and preorder placed within days after the preorder was up at BBTS I intend to fully remedy that. Hence, technically I have the mold but since he is considered an RiD figure I can't count him in there... but Encore wise he is sooo in that list!!!

Gok, you sure those minispies count as separate entities?:p I would've thought those were just accessories or something as they were sold with minibots weren't they?

@ Bidoofdude: don't sweat it, the fun is in the hunt :D;). It took me years to come up to this so there's no rush there :p... enjoy each figure. also as like the others here not all G1 fig may be your cup of tea... I know if I wasn't trying to complete it I would've not bought a few figures myself as some are pretty crap - i.e. battlechargers, firecons.

It's a "Hasbro" G1 list, so it's meant to be inclusive of all the G1 toys made and marketed/sold by Hasbro in Hasbro markets. I made this list a few years ago for my personal purposes, and as I'm not interested in collecting Japanese G1 I didn't include it. But yeah, this is meant to purely be a Hasbro-only G1 list. :)

I can compile a new list for Takara G1 too later on if you like. If you want a similar poll to go with it, I'd like to put it on a separate thread so it doesn't get confused with this thread's which is intended to purely be for Hasbro G1 only. :)

Maybe I should get you to go through my G2 Decepticons album on my FB and tell me which one's are actually G1. I've only got 3 G2 Autobots and I know BBee and B-Comber are G2, though not sure about Speedstream as I know he was released as both G1 & G2 but his Autobot symbols have worn off.

I have the masterforce versions instead of the hasbro versions of ther pretenders/powermasters/overlordo - these don't count right?

No, they do not. But they do count on the Takara G1 Toy Checklist (http://otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=15393). :)

I come in at (with rounding)… 2% completion

If I can get the 15 G1 TFs that I want, then I would have 420 G1 TFs, making my collection 93% complete. So yeah, 93% completeness would be a "complete" G1 collection for me.

I would have loved for you to be marking my school tests! :p

I have 247 out of 450 (54.8%) But I really only have any interest (or will ever collect) only 1988 releases and before. So 242/248 :p

My count worked out to be 55.1% (248). I would like to finish off the 84/85 cast which means I need 11 more (Wheeljack, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Mirage, Grimlock, Snarl, Slag, Swoop, Reflector, Jetfire and Ramjet) so I guess 58% complete would be ideal.

It's no coincidence that most of the ones I need are common KOs which means originals are pricey and the risk of being sent a KO after spending a lot keeps me away.

I like the way Skullcruncher thinks so my recalculated figure is 65% as I only focused on toys released between '84 and '86 (inclusive) :p

I'm 15 figures off my completing what I want to collect for G1. Thankfully they're all from later G1, my early G1 stuff is complete (yes, except Time Warrior... (T-T)), so thankfully the stuff I need hasn't been KOed and don't tend to go for as exhorbitant aftermarket prices as the more high demand earlier G1 stuff.

Yeah, it means i pretty much had to sell all my masterpieces and forget about buying the new ones (and any cool 4rd party stuff) Means i cant collect anything else. Only plus is that my collection is relatively small (under 500 pieces) so it doesnt take up a massive amount of space

Luck? My collection is the result of 28+ years' worth of continuous collecting. It's not so much luck but persistence/dedication. I collected most of my G1 toys the same way I collect most of my Transformers today -- from local brick and mortar stores. I'm principally a collector of current toys, not old toys, so I have a near complete G1 collection because G1 was the current line when I started collecting Transformers. Most of my G1 toys are my childhood toys (hence their value to me is much more sentimental than monetary). The only "luck" involved is that I'm an old bugger - old enough to have been around to start collecting in 1984. :p

I was gonna say, when I saw the list you have there Paulbot..... ohhhh gonna be hard buying online as these have been KOed... well except for 4 - Ramjet Jetfire, Bluestreak and Smokescreen. Best to buy em from really trusted seller, or personally inspect the item if possible...KOs galore on most of them now :(:(
