I have RoboCop (RoboCop 3 release, with gun arm and flight pack) and War Machine - great figures with amazing detail, but very pricey, especially after they've been discontinued.

I had Project BM Kamen Riders CycloneJoker, kabuto and Tatoba but the quality was fairly poor and would look odd from certain angles due to the tightness in the materials.

Am willing to give the 1/6 thing another go with the RAH DX Blade King and the new sideshow Snake Eyes figure.

KalEl - smart move, waiting for the new one. Hopefully it'll have slightly better articulation, and maybe articulated fingers like the more recent Iron Man releases. I understand ED-209 will have more articulation in the legs than the original.

Dkaris - I had no idea Medicom were actually making Evas. I've had a look at pics online, and although they seem to be light on extras/accessories/gimmicks (at least, from what I could see), they look to be the best Eva figures since the SoC Specs.

I was a bit hesitant at first, the use of rubber in 1/6 figures is something many collectors tend to steer clear of, especially some of the older Hot Toys releases. However after reading about the Medicom Evas on a few different boards I felt a bit more confident, For now the only units available are unit 1 and 2, and also an awakened version of unit 1, which is an exclusive (bbts has it for $400)

I'll photograph my eva 02 when it arrives =]

Where are you guys picking up your 1/6ths? Only stores that I know of in Sydney (as in brick and mortar stores) are Hobby co, which are decently priced, and Game Infinity which are quite pricey but do get some rarer stuff.

As far as online I've found Popculcha is good for hot toys mostly (over $100 free shipping AUS wide) and someone also recommended another site i've never personally used, http://www.shopforme.com.au/

Please do :)

I've bought my two 1/6s on eBay (and will probably continue to do so, if I choose to get more), but I've passed by HobbyCo and Game Infinity and seen their stuff (I'll admit to being tempted by the figure of Terminator 2 Arnold at HobbyCo).

Dkaris, you're lucky to have an Iron Man Mark VI - I've been looking for one, and they're very pricey these days, both online and at Game Infinity.

honestly I think mk VI is very fragile. lots of parts feel loose and flimsy. I don't have any other iron man figures so I'm unsure if is a one off or if they are all similar. My personal favorites are the Predators. They are such solid figures =]

Asmus Toys: Avengers Stark Costume (Tony Stark Outfit from The Avengers Movie)

Fantastic set, well crafted and accurate to the screen for a very reasonable price.
High points of the set and the diecast bracelets and the detailed black sabbath art, and on a more personal note the socks are a perfect touch. The weakest part and I would say the only, would be the shoes, a little plain on detail. Though this is a very minor concern as the rest of the set is very good.
Makes for a very nice Tony Stark Figure if you have a head and a body handy.

Asmus Toys Masked robber clothing set (Bank robber Joker)

Video Review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvGLQvWgTuY

Another fine clothing set from Asmus Toys, a great representation of the jokers outfit from the opening scene of 'The Dark Knight'. A great improvement on shoe quality, quite reasonable stitching and form of the clothing and a brilliant representation of the mask. Even the inclusion of a small 1/6 scale Die-cast watch.
Though not quite on par with hot toys official release of this set, it is a great substitute for that extra head and spare body you may have lying around.

Video Review of Hot Toys MMS183 TDKR Bane

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmoVRfS3iFc

Another fantastic release from Hot Toys with an absolute perfect likeness too Tom hardy as bane! A very well detailed figure from head to toe.

With a newly developed body sculpt with the inclusion of his back scar the figure stands out in display fashion (vest, coat or topless). The sculpt is painted from the waist up with fine detail.

Here's where the issues begin; It seems that Hot Toys were stuck between a rock and a hard place on weather going for aesthetic pleasing arms or more articulated arms. Problem is bane can not do his "boss" pose ie: double lapel/collar grab pose. Though if you don't intend to use this pose the arms look great. This problem can be rectified with a body sway but that's another story.

Overall if you are a fan of the Dark Knight films and Tom Hardys' Bane this figure is definitely worth a pick up.

Video review of Hot Toys MMS175 Avengers Thor

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxOx1ozik50

The Mighty Thor, whom wields the mighty Mjolnir! Hot Toys have done it again with a stunning Representation of Chris Hemsworth as Thor from The Avengers. A brilliant likeness from head to toe, boots to hair.
Thor comes with a small parts count, that being said he comes with one of my favourite items so far. Mjolnir, Thors hammer. Made of a mixture of metal, plastic and leather it is a stunning piece.

Where the figure falls down is the articulation, though not as bad as you may think. His legs are well articulated especially in the ankle and knees, the split boot/shin guard does a lot to help this. He has waist articulation still due to softer plastic on the torso armour. He loses his ab crunch though due to the harder upper armour. The head is still fairly poseable as the hair sculpt has a great layered effect and pliable plastic. His arms are the weak part, due to going for screen accuracy with the armour plating. Elbows will still get 90 degrees and reasonable outward motion on the shoulders. They are fairly limited in upward motion. It's acceptable as the look more than makes up for it.

This figure is a fantastic display piece and the use of a flight stand would not go astray :)
I highly recommend this if you are an avengers collector it's a must. Otherwise I't isn't a first place draft pick, Though it is up there.

Now I'm curious to see how that one will turn out.

In other news... Hot Toys have a figure of Roadblock from GI Joe: Retaliation. (http://www.hottoys.com.hk/productDetail.php?productID=177)

Anyone here have any experience or opinions on the Sideshow Bond 1/6 figures? I'm kind of tempted to get one or two if I can find them for a good price, but I'm hesitant because of the 'plasticky' look of the head moulds (paint job, maybe?) - some photos make them look better than others.

I'm not a big enough Predator fan to be collecting the figures, but I'm with you on the armour - it makes the Predators look bulkier/more imposing (although without it, they definitely look more exotic/alien) - plus, it makes sense in-universe, since they're hunting prey with corrosive blood!

I say go for it - sooner or later, the prices will start to climb.

Video Review of the Hot Toys Avengers Black Widow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIAtaiz6Z8o

What a beautiful piece, figuratively and literally ;) I must say this Head sculpt from Hot Toys is Top three for me along with the 89 joker and the dx11 laughing sculpt (ones I own at the moment). It's a perfect likeness of Scarlet in the Avengers. On top of that she is using the smaller female body opposed to the larger body that the iron man 2 version used. In much better scale now.

Articulation is great as it has double joints on knees and elbows, the waist is hindered by the suit but the ab(boob) crunch makes up for it. The only other hindrance is the ankles due to a moulded boot, not a huge issue as they are moulded in a natural a-stance. The Suit is very free moving, though I wouldn't over stretch it (risk of tearing is possible) also I would suggest against leaving it bunched up too long as it may/will crease.

I highly recommend this figure and especially if you are collection the Avengers line she is a must. A very well done figure.

Video Review of Hot Toys DX-11 The Joker 2.0 from the Batman Film; The Dark Knight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE4sUQhK6cc&feature=c4-overview&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q

An absolutely superb and in my opinion, must have release from hot toys for batman fans and general collectors alike. With Stunning sculpts, fantastic tailoring and an array of great accessories The Joker is top shelf.
Some of the highlights of the Dx release are the laughing head sculpt and the terrogation set up which includes a table and chair as well as a fantastic backdrop.

Articulation is fantastic as usual on a slim truetype body and almost any of the jokers iconic poses are possible. The only hindrance is the one piece head/neck sculpt as it limits the range of head posing. Though this is a very minor complaint as both sculpts are so good. The 'Pers' (poseable eyeball rolling system) make the head sculpt incredible.

Overall I think its a 9/10 (its must be perfect for a 10/10) the coat could be a little more 'worn' but that again is a minor complaint on such a complete figure.
Highly recommended and very true to the source material.
Pick it up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erj9FULCiWI&feature=c4-overview&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q

This think is super cool. Another Highly detailed release from Hot toys. Though at the time of this review it had been out for a few year and a second release has been released. It still holds up well. The only real differences between this release and the '2.0' are a different paint job, a updated head sculpt and a environment figure stand/base.

With a highly intricate system of actual wired and cables as well as fantastic representation of the armour in plastic form, the mark one is awesome. Highly recommended, especially if you are interested in owning the hall of armour.

Nah I heven't read any. I don't imagine it would be much different to the first release. I like the old school ones, like city hunter and the orignal pred, but theres something about the more armored look which i like too. Just a shame the two avp films were terrible.

Video Review of the Hot Toys MMS187 The Last Stand Wolverine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hum_XZhk6sE&feature=c4-overview&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q

Another shinning example of Hot Toys Craftsmanship. Based on Hugh Jackmans portrayal of Wolverine in X-men: The Last Stand. A very well made 1/6 replica of the outfit from the movie, metal (sharp) claws and a cool base.

The head sculpt on the figure is fantastic, very high level of detail and paint work. A high level of contention with the sculpt is the expression, it is not very photogenic and tends to look very odd in photo and also in video. In person the sculpt looks great and with the right pose the teeth work very well. The likeness is pretty good in my opinion, though due to the expression it can appear to be off.

The articulation on the figure is great, though the suit can restrict it. With double jointed elbows and knees as well as a muscular true-type it can be put into most required poses. The suit mainly restricts the ab crunch and the head movement. The figure has fantastic range at the ankles but they also tend to be very weak so using one of the stands is advised. The figure has standard hand articulation but the glove design hinders the movement as the cuff is very long and quite often pops off when moving the wrist. It can be very annoying.

Parts count is low. Though it's seems high due to the inclusion of the sentinel head figure stand. The stand looks great and does it's job, but it isn't screen accurate and it tends to has a somewhat 'cheap' feel. It come with a pair of relaxed hand on in box and also close with a pair or fists and a pair of clawed hands. But that's it... An extra head would have been great and padded out the price a bit.

Overall its a great figure and I do recommend it weather you are a fan of the film or not.

Dkaris: I haven't looked at many reviews, but I think this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox-nzwOAzwE) is good - it shows all the features of Scar 2.0, plus a brief comparison with the old one. Where the first one had to be assembled out of the box, the new one is already assembled. Also, you have two display options for the mandibles, whereas you don't with the old one.

KalEl: Nice pics! Are you going to make a pictorial for Mk VII?
Personally, I find the snarling face somewhat sensitive to the angle you're viewing it at - of those three, I think it looks best in the last picture.
The new Wolverine due next year looks pretty good, too...

At the moment I've got the next Hot Toys 1989 Joker (Mime version), Sideshow Toys Snake Plissken (Escape from New York, Sideshow exclusive edition) and the die-cast Hot Toys RoboCop (1987 film obviously!) ordered, with Joker due in December, RoboCop due in March, and Snake in August.

Pleasantly surprised with the pics of the Sideshow Snake prototype.

They'll go nicely with the 89 Batman/Joker, and the Arnold T800s from T1 and T2. Much as I wanted, I couldn't justify the DX on the T800 owning the original.

All I can think of still buying (if they make it) is a Kyle Reese. I told myself when I first purchased a HT figure that I was going to have VERY strict rules about them (ie: no new properties, only ones I've loved for at least 10-15 years).

Lancalot - yeah, they're not the best pictures :D In all seriousness, I had considered getting a new body for that figure, as the current one is kind of scrawny. Don't know if I will, though...

Millhouse: If you wanted, I suppose you could get the grenade launcher and Gatling gun from the DX Arnold loose and put them on your MMS T2 Arnold (you'd probably need the gloved hands meant for holding the Gatling gun as well). I'd also like to get a new Kyle Reese or a new Hicks if HT get to make them - at least one of those two Michael Biehn characters :)

Gamblor: Nice acquisition! Is that box actually signed by Jordan?

Video Review of Hot Toys MMS152 Superman.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dckpsgsEes&feature=c4-overview&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q

For me, the figure is perfect. Christopher Reeve as Superman in the superman movie series was awe inspiring as a child and still is as an adult. I must have watched Superman 1+2 hundreds of times over the past 20 years and still enjoy every minute, in fact I'm writing this review as I was Superman 2 - The Richard Donner cut.

So that brings me to Hot Toys. Their perfect recreation of Superman, played by the late Christopher Reeve. The likeness of this sculpt and tailoring is impeccable, even the boots look amazing. From ever angle this figure is undoubtedly Christopher Reeve as Superman. A true masterpiece living up to the lines name.

Now enough of the gushing for now, the figure has very few issues. But they can be quite annoying. The suit is very accurate, that being said the stretchy type of material is very prone to 'runs' and any stray threads should be carefully trimmed and not pulled. Also on my copy of the figure the head comes off very easily as the ball joint is loose. This is 50/50 with this figure. The only other 'issue' is that without the use of a hair dryer to soften the materials the fortress of solitude stand can be quite difficult to assemble.

The Box for the figure is a great display piece and is fairly large, inside of it are the standard clam shell containers. The accessory count is fairly low, which is fine. He comes with two additional sets of fully sculpted and painted hands, a standard hot toys black base with name plate and movie logo and The diorama Fortress of Solitude base which looks fantastic and doubles as a flight stand.

Articulation is great, double jointed knees and elbows. The body is a muscular body with the rubber neck, the neck and upper torso are well painted to match the hands and head sculpt. That being said you should be careful when moving the head not to scrape the paint off the neck. The cape is also somewhat pose-able as it has a small wire throughout it's edge. It is quite emotive but gravity can make it difficult for some positions.

Overall whether a superman fan or not, the figure is clearly one of Hot Toys finest and in my opinion a must have of any Superman fan. It also looks great next to the newly released 'Evil Superman' figure from Superman 3 (Reviewing soon).

If you have the opportunity to pick it up, I can't recommend it more

Enjoy the review and photos.

I dedicate this review to Christopher Reeve. A Childhood Hero.

Video Review of Hot Toys MMS201 Jor-El from the 2013 Movie 'Man of Steel'.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpLiaSQi-vE&feature=c4-overview&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q

With the first release from the Man of Steel line, Hot Toys has once again, done a fantastic job.
First things first, Jor-El does not photograph well, more specifically his head sculpt. The sculpt tends to appear very shiny and has a unnatural gloss. Also a distant stare which to some will be off putting. But in hand the sculpt is quite well done. The hair and imperfections are great.

The Suit and tailoring are fantastic, though I would have preferred a fully armoured version of Jor-El. Not only has he got a very well done set of robes and a brilliantly sculpted chest and shoulder armour piece which is a highlight of the figure. The figure also has a nicely pleated and wired cape. Under the robes is a fully Blue Kryptonian suit, Similar to the One the Kal-El wears minus the Symbol of the house of El. The robes are removable via a rear zip, though a advise great caution if doing so.

Articulation is Fairly good, ankles still function due to the flexibility in the under suit. And the Body has double jointed knees and elbows. The shoulder articulation is limited due to the armour but no major issue.

Accessory count is low but this is made up with the inclusion of a fantastic Flight stand in the shape of the shield of the house of El. Rather than the typical pole and clip the stand has a highly articulated metal pole in similar fashion to the articulated desk lamps. It is very strong and will easily hold standard 1/6 scale figures. The only issue with the stand is the size, it takes up most of a detolf shelf. It's around the same size as the new goblin stand. The figure also comes with standard assortment of hands and a nicely sculpted kryptonian rifle. Hot Toys also added the Kryptonian Codex from the film. The item was not in the original solicitations from Hot Toys so it's a nice addition and surprise.

The Jor-El figure is great and well worth picking up. Don't pass on it due to being released before Kal-El (Superman) or you may regret it later.
Hot Toys Have done a great job of capturing Russell Crowes likeness, It's well worth add to any collectors collection.

That's a nice set of pics you've taken for the last couple of reviews - I particularly like Superman's fist-bump with Hulk!

It really is a great likeness of Russell Crowe, and I believe you when you say it looks better in person. I'm particularly impressed with the sculpt for the armour.

I can imagine you must be looking forward to the releases for Kal-El himself and Zod.

I don't collect Hot Toys per se, but have their Batman stuff.

I'm thinking of letting go of the following to a USA based friend:
1. 1/6 Hot Toys Bat-Pod, 1st version, MISB
2. 1/6 Hot Toys Batmobile, 1st version (from Batman Begins) MISB

How much do you guys think these are worth?

I've just had a quick look at eBay's completed listings, as I figured that would be a decent indicator of market value, and the cheapest Batpod went for USD295 - they seem to be going for roughly AUD400 or so. The cheapest Tumbler (the black one) has gone for USD639 (AUD800+ doesn't seem to be unusual) - perhaps it's because they're older/out of production, or the black is in greater demand, but the black Tumblers go for higher prices than the desert camo'd Tumblers; then again, this is true for out-of-production figures in general.

On another note, in terms of new announcements from HT:

I don't have any of the batman figure and the armoury was just perfect for me , so I preorder it with just the batman figure .... it will look amazing as a display piece .
I was a disappointed in the starboost suit , I was really looking forward to it as it look so cool in the concept , you can't even see it in the film , he was just a slight blur on screen for less then a second .... but this figure looks to plastic and toyish for me to justify the price , he doesn't seem to be the standard of the other suit , must be the paint app on him ....

Review of Sideshow Collectibles Sixth Scale: Jedi Master Yoda.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mh4cQytaV4&list=UUROf_lOxJO7P6ta0oxNwf9Q&feature=c4-overview

My First Sideshow Sixth scale figure, and I must say I'm fairly impressed. It wont be my last.
Sideshow's New Jedi Master Yoda figure is fantastic and great bang for your buck at a hundred dollars.

As a big fan of Yoda ever since I was a young child I was very excited to pick this guy up. I highly recommend and Star Wars 1/6 fan to get this Yoda.

He Is quite poseable considering his small size and very emotive with two head sculpts and poseable robes by way of wire. With a slue of hands and feet to change poses you have heaps of great options. Two chairs and two lightsabers are also included to round out this great set.

The Head sculpts seem to be based on the clone era Yoda. They are a lot more accurate than the original solicitations made us believe. I'm Very happy with the iteration of the Jedi Master.

the shading on him is awesome ! But he come with a little battle damage effect which I don't like , you can see it on the second pic on his chest . They should of left him clean .....
Also one thing is that he has lot of articulation but you cant move it far cause the armour get in the way so his movement is limited and very hard to do good poses ... But he sure is a beauty to look at ...

Love the rubber tires !! it painted with some weathering with is quiet good and got lots of details , but also some of the detail not painted like the hydraulic attachment on the sides with make them look plastic , which is abit lazy for a HT as their figure are very well detailed ....

cool...what figure is that ?.... I found that HT figure are quiet mix in quality control , some are perfect and nothing wrong with them ...then there are other that has problem ... If your after any old figures , I know a few places that I can keep an eye out for you at reasonable prices ...
And it does get pretty addictive with them as they look so nice .

Oh sweet man looks great in the flesh

I've got the 2nd run HT all black tumbler out in the shed still in shipping box. Just haven't had the courage to open as yet ;)

Looks great like the camo scheme

I've got burton batmobile heading my way shortly and I've got no idea what I'm gonna do with it!

if you have the time ...would love to see the pic of them.... I really want the Deunan !! :)

I don't have a very good camera yet (looking at a Nikon D5200...). These were taken with an old RAZR camera a few years ago for someone else that requested some comparison pics. Hot Toys Terius not pictured, as he shouldn't ever have been....

1. Hot Toys with WAVE and Hot Toys coin figures.
2. Deunan showing the problem with the rubber suit streching unrealistically
3. As above kneeling
4. Comparison with Hot Toys and the WAVE 1/10 figures.

The recently announced Battle Damaged T-800 (from The Terminator) looks awesome, and will go nicely with my older T2 T-800 and T1 T-800. I love the first Terminator movie and have been looking forward to a black jacket-Terminator from the first film for some time now (well, forgetting about the really old version Hot Toys did).

Also, The Joker: Mime Version from Batman (1989) arrived. Goddamn does it look great.

I just love the stand with the led lights ... and he looks so good.. with the deferent face swap ..and you can move his eyes!!!
the only thing that is a let down is that his rubber suit restrict his posing as it tend to push the joint back into the same position

not overly excited, but not disappointed either. im spoilt by SH Figuarts posability as this batman aint the most posable of action figures. but he does look good.

I also have a black version with an angrier face on pre-order which i'll probably be cancelling soon. But if someone wants it, ill hold on to the pre-order as the pre-order has already closed.

Also on pre-order is the hot toys batman armory with Alfred. Not really interested in the alfred figure either... anyone interested and dun want the batman figure? :p

I still dunno if im still going ahead with the hot toys one yet... i know ive pre-ordered these impulsively... :(

The posability of the 1/6 figure are quiet bad as the clothing restrict them a lot :( plus you don't want to wreck it by overly stretching it because it cost so much .....the worst one has to be the 89 batman , can't really do anything thing much due to his rubber suit and mask , but boy he looks good .......

Ill will say no .... he looks good.. very good ....and you can move him around a little but really you can't pose him .... his rubber suit just resist any movement , and you can't turn his head as his neck cowl is connected to the bat symbol on his chest so that move as well if you move his head , but his eyes can move ... that why you only see him in same standing pose in everyone collection display ....

Kinda difficult to get shots with other Joes because I don't have any. Ironman, Black Widow, Bruce Lee and Michael Jordan is the extent of my 1/6 collection.
I just use a pair of halogen lamps which I really need to replace as they cast a yellow tint on all my shots.

nice pics! where do you guys get your hot toys from?

I just discovered animarket.com.au. They've got decent prices that are comparable to anime-export/hlj/amiami. Not sure what their shipping prices are though...

I get my hot toys from animarket, sideshow, or popcultcha depending on who is cheapest including shipping. Sideshow is great to get exclusive versions. Pop is great especially when they have their big sales. Animarket generally is cheapest overall but they don't get exclusive versions.

Really? Nah, Sideshow ship heaps of stuff to Australia! They ship all their own products to Oz, including their exclusive version. They also ship all of Hot Toys figures except some exclusives. Most exclusives they send, but recently they've picked some to restrict for some reason.

Either way, I find their service and shipping protection to be outstanding. They even give international customers a $25 coupon to use for subsequent orders, but the list of eligible products to use it on is pretty crappy.

Well, it is the 2nd week into the Pose-Off Battle, so after seeing some great pics, I thought I'd change up one of my figures that I haven't moved for ages.

Still love this Joker figure. As soon as I opened the figure I swapped the jackets to put him in his trenchcoat. So this is actually the first time I've changed it back into the smaller coat since I got it! I think the smaller coat suits his more playful poses :)
