hey all...
as the title suggests... i'm after your opinions on lucky draw tf's.
do you love em? hate em? or couldn't care less...
does anyone here own one, if yes... what is it and how did you acquire it?
i've seen a couple come up for sale recently on evil bay and it got me thinking about if anybody on these forums has any.
anyways...
i'm curious of peoples opinions
:)

They look really cool and make great centerpieces IMO.
Darn shame they're so expensive... :(

I'd love to have something iconic as a Lucky Draw toy (Optimus or Megatron from one of the better series) that only had 3 to 5 produced... but they are so expensive, I could only afford one of those Rodimus/Primus toys, of which 100 were made.

I'm in the "I'm not going to pay that much" category. Way too expensive for me.

Cool to look at I suppose.
But their rarity does not add any value to them for me, thus they are overpriced curiosities.

The only lucky draw that really does it for me is the blue beast wars Optimus primal. It's my holy grail along with Battle Gaia and the only lucky draw I'd consider spending the money on

No too fussed on the goldies, but i wouldn't mind a green Unicron . :rolleyes:Black Tracks would be cool too, but i'd rather find an original:p
Anyway, heeaps of rare actual releases to track down before i even start thinking about lucky draw stuff

^Completely agree^ :)
I have one Lucky Draw TF - silver chrome Bluestreak. I got it by winning it as a lucky draw prize. :D But ultimately, it's just G1 Bluestreak entirely covered in silver chrome... just because they could. As CBraton said, it's just a curiosity - a novelty. It's a pretty neat novelty, but IMHO not neat enough to pay some massive price for.
The other thing is, as the name implies, these Transformers are meant to be obtained through luck. Simply buying one kinda defeats the purpose IMO. It's kinda like buying a medal or trophy for a contest you didn't win (even if the contest is based on random luck rather than merit). To me, the fact that my Lucky Draw Chromestreak is entirely chrome is only half the novelty -- the other half is the fact that I won it as a prize.
JMO.

I recently posted some pics in the Action Pose thread w/ Chromestreak in it here (http://otca.com.au/boards/showpost.php?p=350099&postcount=2051). :)

Thanks for the replies guys.....
Interesting to hear people's thoughts on these.
Must admit I do dig a few of them... Don't know if I'll ever own one, but ya never know.
Cool pics Lancalot and Gok.... Thanks for sharing

Lucky Draw Transformers don't interest me at all. The reason why I got into collecting back in the early 2000's was to obtain all of the Transformers I wanted as a kid but never got. Shiny-gold-expensive-variants never factored into it. I'd much rather spend my money on a set of MISB G1 Dinobots ;)

Yeah too expensive for me. There was a gold diaclone prize jazz on yahoo about a month ago, I think it went for over 5gs

They're pretty. But as stated in previous posts, unless you actually win one, WAY too expensive.

I have little to no interest in them, The only one I have actually liked that I have seen pictures of was Transformers Prime Arcee

One went for $1200.00 on ebay, for that price I'll pick up some Japanese G1 items I'm after instead of a lucky draw.

Ive only got to get LD Galvatron to complete my Henkei Collection. But the prices they'e asking for him, no way. They can keep it.

I like the concept of winning a lucky draw, and the Arcee looks really nice. generally though the chromed lucky draw figures are really hard to look at and see any actual detail. this make them less appealing to me.
It's unfortunate that we don't get lucky draw figures like that in Australia (though I seem to recall there was a chance to get a movie leader prime at one point:confused:). but collection wise, I don't really see the appeal, a lucky draw toy, especially a Chromed one, is something I don't think I'd want to touch for fear of scratching/chipping off the Chrome.
I'd be happy to win one, and I'd display it as a centrepiece most likely but I'll be winning lottery before I purchase a lucky draw figure.

^100% agree.
The gold movie Prime we had was a draw prize during the ROTF IMAX premiere in Sydney.
