I'm thinking of doing a more show-accurate repaint of TF Prime Ultra Magnus, but to be safe I thought I'd have a go at a digibash first for reference. Here's my attempt:

I will probably start the repaint in the next couple of weeks and will post some pics once it's complete.

Okay I've finished the TFPrime Ultra Magnus custom paint job. It's about as show accurate as I can get it using this mold. Obviously the shoulders differ somewhat, but aside from that I'm pretty happy with it:

That nice man ..... I would extend the red over across his chest as well....but very accurate to the cartoon... just also notice that his wheels on his legs stay like that when in robot mode in the cartoon and not folded up....

The cartoon model is based on the BH Voyager Ultra Magnus - the retool/repaint of PRiD Optimus Prime. If you look at the arms and legs they're plainly Optimus Prime's. Sure would've saved Hasbro Studios some money having to just retool the old Optimus Prime CGI model to make Ultra Magnus instead of having to build one from scratch (reminds me of how Mainframe heavily tweaked their Transmetal Cheetor CG model to make Ravage ;)). Conveniently Optimus Prime has a whole new CG model now, so the two of them won't be seen together side by side in the show. :o

Thanks lancalot. I'm loving your customs btw. Ur work had come an impressively long way in a short space of time. Looking forward to more progress pics of your latest project. Wish I could make mine look half as good as yours.
Goki - I did notice a few similarities in the show between the two characters but not sure I like the newer toy mold.

Yeah, while the first Voyager Magnus may not be as show-like, at least it is a completely new/original mould. :)

Man, that's nice. Btw are you going to panel line the joints in his fingers and the knuckles red?

Thanks guys. SMHF Convoy, I did think about doing that but didn't see how I could do it at the time. I've just had another look at the hands after reading your comment, and I think I can see a way to do it. Glad you mentioned it, thanks for that.
Time to get the paint brush out again!

I have taken on the advice of SMHFConvoy and painted the finger joints red as in the show, it definitely adds to the figure IMO. While I had the paintbrush out I made a couple of other minor paint apps that I think improve the overall appearance of the alt mode, namely painting the front indicators, the rear tail lights, the smokestacks and the side mirrors. I think I'm done now... :p

You've done some excellent work on this custom AJ, really impressed and I'd love to see you apply the same efforts to the other, more show accurate Voyager figure. ;):)

Thanks Hursti, although I should've waited to see another ep of TF Prime before doing his finger joints. Now I've seen better screen caps, I know that the red doesn't go all the way across each knuckle. Oh well...

Looks really good. I really appreciate when fans paint up thier figures so they are more show accurate.
Great job!
