Transformers Legends mobile game now available for iOS (incl Australia)

If you missed the announcement that NGMCo put out via email, Transformers Legends is now available for the iOS!

This game features some AWESOME artwork that was designed specifically for the app. I've only had it since last night, but I'm baffled by how to play it. It just seems to be click click click with no real strategy, and the animation for the battle scenes seems to be bewhildering. Maybe I'm just not "getting" this, but can anyone give advice on how to play it? Did you play for long or just give up in frustration?

I've been playing it a bit lately too. But you don't really play it. It pretty much plays itself ,rather annoyingly it requires a net connection for some really boring pvp gameplay,but the game does it all for you. Whats the point?

Does the iOS version have the current "Fatal Furies" episode?

It's a good time to start playing because during the events you can stock up on common and uncommon cards pretty quickly.

I think you have to get to level 5 first though before you can play the episode, but if you're lower levels some of the bosses might be hard. Worth a try though.

Since playing Fatal Furies over the course of the day I've picked up another Tundercracker bot and Skywarp bot, Slipstream alt, 2 Ratchet bots & 1 alt, a Ravage bot and Wheeljack Alt. So now have a pack of all Level 3's except for my Perceptor who is Level 2 but I have maxed out.

Do you know if you combine a robot/alt with it's other form, if you lose all the points you had put on the original form. I had a Ratchet bot, thought I had him at about level 9, then Transcanned him and he's back at 1! Did I do something wrong? It's making me build up the two Level 3's I do have, just in case I build up another level 3 (Like Laserbeak whom I have the canon of as well) to like level 20, then lose it all when I finally find his cassette mode and combine them.

yes once you combine the robot mode with the alt mode it always goes back to level 1. when you transcan them though, they take a percentage of their stats so if you get both modes to level 50 before combining, you get 10% stats of each card into the combined card.

so yeah its annoyingly slow and painful process.

one thing i noticed about the new update was that Firestar has generation kup's alt mode.

I've got all these character cards I am keeping just because... well... its the art that got me to play the game in the first place. But if you can get rid of cards but still access the artwork you unlocked in the cyber index then I can clear out my deck.

Try it out with a common card like Grappel. I'd think they'd stay in the index.

Also, I know in Rage of Bahamut - another Mobage "card game" - you will get extra xp from upgrading with a built up card. They give out a maxed-out prize card quite a lot, its stats are useless for battle but it's fantastic for upgrading quickly.

On the Android version I got a bug during the first of the three recent events. I got Megatron gun mode, then got a Megatron robot mode. Transcanned them but then when I looked at my Cyberdex I had the alt mode and combined mode, but no robot mode card... which is impossible, I couldn't have merged the cards without the robot mode. I think what happened when I got the robot card I didn't see it full size before I combined it so it didn't register. So now I make sure I see each card in full before I transcan.

The events are even worse in this regard. If you want to get high on the charts you have to buy energon recharges or you'll never fight enough battles to get enough points.

Yeah, I have been tempted to buy some good cards, but then I think 'Hey, I could spend that money on a real TF!' Although I spose if you are really into it and have the cash you might as well have some fun, so if people wanna buy the good stuff it's nice to have that option. Personally I'm still pretty chuffed I randomly got a Lvl 4 Ironhide this morning ;)

Absolutely. I've been 'playing' occasionally since January but haven't purchased any premium packs or ventured into the pyramid scheme that offers free currency if you download other games. Not only does the 'game' try to funnel you into paying for cards, but the cost of the microtransactions is practically extortionate (though probably on par with similar 'free' games).

$1 for a chance at a randomrare card? $10 for 1 guaranteed random rare card and a chance at 14 others? It might be worth it if you could choose or they were all guaranteed rare but I've read stories of people who've bought premium packs and got nothing. Put simply, it's gambling - the game is a slot machine but the prize is pictures.

It might almost be excusable if there was any actual game play. As it stands, the game is just to collect all the cards, preying, at least incidentally, on the "gotta get 'em all" collector mind set.

With the way the events are structured, the only way to collect them all is to have been playing since launch and sunk a bucket load of money into power ups to stay in the top 100 or so in the event rankings. Anyone jumping on board now is out of luck, unless the previous events get repeated at some point in the future.

Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant but it makes me really angry. :mad:

TL;DR: Play the game if you like it but don't buy cards - look at them for free on the internet.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same way. So far since I joined I had the one with the femmebots, the one with the Terrorcons, the one with the space-faring autobots and then the one that just ended which had characters from the G1 Ep 'Countdown to Extinction'. Maybe give us a week or two off!


I ended up about 2400 for countdown. Was happy with that. Dunno how well I'll do with the next one.

I got 7000 something in the first one, in the top 2,500 in the next two, and the last one 4112. Unless you can get in the top 1000, I've given up trying to get in the top 2,500 because you only get one of the character card, which means all the other cards where you have the alt-mode end up more powerful anyway.


BTW: Just updated the Ozformers user list for the game. Soz for forgetting for a week or two.

What I found is best way to get points is by helping others out defeating the bosses. Especially later on when it takes ages to get a new level needing so many points. You get points at least for beating them.

this is a good tactic, although i use it as soon as i see them pop up on the list, i just use one cube, and tag a boss, try to go for the ones where you can be the finisher to get that extra battle cube, look for the Level [??] cards too these give you battle cube recharges

also level up as much as you can to regenerate your cubes and accept all boss battles, you dont have to carry through with them but then if you get a couple you can pick the higher pointed ones if your limited with cubes.

additionally get to know what damage your deck can do on 1, 2 and 3 cubes, no point wasitng a cube using 2 if you can defeat a boss with 1.

my deck out of episodes is currently 8260 i have been rebuilding it, max upgrade your bot and alt modes first, trans-scan and then max upgrade again this gives the cards higher stats.

Also i found that upgrading during an event is easier as it seems you get double value for your cards, same goes for selling. so you can upgrade quicker

Nice! Who is in your deck? I'm getting Reflector powered up as well to replace either my Arcee or Firestar that are not max powered.

If you want high scoring bosses you need to friend the high level players (>200).
I check the battle list of high bosses, and then use this (or the ranking list) to send friend requests.

The way it works is if they already have too many friends, it gives an error message. Move on to the next. You will also need to complete missions to level,and regularly "prune" your list of friends if they are too much lower than you. Don't ditch everyone though - low level players send damaged foes you can kill with one hit, and earn abattle cube for finishing off

Anyone else been getting those Ironhide x1 bosses coming up?

They are awesome! 20,000 a pop and you never have to worry about betting a cube as unlike other bosses everyone can 'get help' so you get a massive amount of people attacking him so he is always defeated. The only downside is that if you seem to get a maximum of about 2 minutes to get your shot in, otherwise he is defeated :eek:. Lost count of the amount of times I have looked down to see on my screen a defeated one that I never had the time to notice pop up.

But after about 40 cubes on him I have gone from ranked 10100 to 2700 in like an afternoon :D

Had about 3. Last event I got a stack of bosses with crazy levels of exp, but not this time. I got up to 2900 with a few hours to go last time but ended up around 7000, due to missing the last hour. Must be crazy with powerful bosses then.

Yeah I've only managed to grab a few of the X2, half the time they come up on my screen they are at 20% or lower and even if I tap immediately I still miss out

It's weird that it lets you get help even though you are not the first attack. I have not seen that in any other episode. It gets crazy number of participants.

Getting really annoyed with the lag, keep getting Level X1 or X2 Ironhides with only 20 or so million hp left, by the time it loads after I select the cube, the boss is defeated.

Its not my internet connection, just the 5-10 second lag! I'd be over 7500 by now if I hadn't missed a dozen of them tonight.

That's exactly who I'm aiming for :); currently 20,000 off of hitting 1.5M and am out of Battle Cubes :eek::(, I've got 237 Energon cubes though so I think I'll have to start hammering into those to get the 3 free BCs per level-up. :o
I want to try & avoid spending any dough whatsoever, but I also want at least 1 complete set of cards - Bonecrusher or Brawn, whoever I don't care so long as it is at least 1 of 'em. :rolleyes:

Last night I got down to ranked 905. Thought that should see me through till the morning.

Got up and was ranked 1491. Thought "Thants ok. As long as I get the odd big boss should be fine".

Then proceeded to watch as over the space of 10 minutes I went to 1560! :eek:

There is 55 minutes left. I have 6 battle cubes left and I came in with 50 I didn't use from the last comp. Every time I get a big boss it sends me up about 70 spots which within 10 minutes I have lost again. I'm currently sitting at 1426 (was sitting at 1390 when I started typing).

Oh, and I am actually going to have to start working in a sec! :eek:

i finished at 1995 got both brawn and ratchet, i was never really in the hunt for wheeljack, got my bonecrusher as well thats about it, even put about 2000 gold medals through the spacebridge and not even half another card....

Pretty ticked off again, got down to 6500 at about 1am. Had to stop playing because the lag was atrocious. I know it is not my connection or ipad, as the game did this last event too. Played it for half an hour this morning and didn't get a single Ironhide X1 or better. Also meant I wasn't able to get the points required for alt mode Bonecrusher.

Ended up at 7698 so another single sided level 4 card that will be out of my deck come the next event.

I figured t may be easier to get to a decent ranking this event compared to the ever popular dinobot based event, but was very mistaken. Starting to get jaded with the game, it feels cheaper after every event.

I can't keep up with the events popping up so soon after the last one.

In the last one I went to bed somewhere around 1200, woke up at 8.30am at 3700. No way could I get under 1500 so I just kept myself above 3750.

I hate that mostly only way to have a good deck is rank really high in the episodes, or be a lucky SOB to get rare cards in your SB. I refuse to pay money on this game anymore. Did firstfew eps, but I can't afford to throw money at it. My current deck isn't bad, just having the multiplier cards really help.

Currently 4115, I have a fairly weak deck so I assume I'm going to start losing rank and fall to the 10's of thousands soon. Might as well enjoy where I am, on the plus side though, I got my first and second super rares from the Space Bridge today, managed to get a Metroplex (Alt) and Jazz (Alt).

As I didn't cash in my gold medals last event, I have cashed in over 1200 warrior and 600 weapons today and still not a single level 4 card.

Was ranked 97 in the first 15 minutes (fluidly played a bit at 11) but I'm now around 4000 and sitting 10,000 or so points away from getting Kup. Have not yet had any recharge cube fights. Point allocation is very different too.

Agreed =o( I ended up on 401, so getting only Wheeljack as a useful addition kinda blows, but I guess there needs to be some balance, because Brawn and Ratchet are more powerful than the 3rd and 4th prize cards from the first couple of events, making most (if not all?) of the cards from those events obsolete already. I still had 200x Cubes to use near the end of Heavy Metal War 1, but I know that I could've easily kissed them goodbye and still not break and maintain 150, so I didn't bother trying. I just wanted to keep safely under 1500, because I missed out on Swoop by 21 places last event, very annoyed, so I didn't want a repeat of that skin-of-the-teeth finish.

I really wish they would stop with their blatant rip off tactics though, they aren't even trying to disguise their greed anymore, basically saying "THE MORE YOU SPEND..." etc etc, and making Rodimus the Ultra Rare (aka 'unload your bank account') card; a highly popular/requested character and the only one (to my knowledge) that has no previous incarnation, I wouldn't be surprised if they buffed their bank account in anticipation for the waves of cash they expect Rodi to generate. They bait even further by stating there wont be any Ultra Rares for a while, so get in while you can! With every event comes fewer and fewer ways to farm Cubes, such as changing the 'First Attack' Cube to an Energon Recharge, changing the Cards/Cube bundle to Cards/Transmetal, and reducing the count you get from point reward thresholds. Thankfully, they brought back the guaranteed x3 Bot/Alt/Weapon rewards after the swarms of hate mail they likely received after running 2 (or 3?) events giving just the Bot/Weapon to bait people into the Premium Space Bridge for the Alt (which they've blatantly done from day 1 by giving you the x5 characters' Weapon, hoping you'll buy/try for the Bot/Alt). And a personal favourite of mine, the EPISODE Space Bridge... that DOESN'T give episode cards... now that is a gem right there...

Please excuse the rant, I guess it just bugs me big time when people clearly put profit ahead of decency, because I strongly doubt these guys are struggling to stay afloat, they are just plain greedy and testing the waters for how deep they can wallet rape before people put up a struggle, and with some players dropping enough Cubes for 600mil damage on a 1.5bil boss, they'll just keep on thrusting.

One last thing, wouldn't it be nice if they employed the many decent suggestions players are making...? Trading anyone...? Nope, less profits.

Frankly I put my all into the last event and was well rewarded. But when I found they had started another one the very next day I was "Na, over it. Need a break"

Getting next to no 840 point battles for cubes, a further indication of how they are limiting free to play players chances.
Also had no X? cards, and I have only had 3 out of 15 40,000+ fights actually finish, power levels are too high to whittle down even after 20 fighters have taken part. Gone from 4400 to 8800 due to lack of points, when you can only make 10,000-12,000 from your 3 "free" cubes, makes it hard to stay competitive.

Getting tired of the game too, no new cards, cashing in 2500 gold medals and not getting a single level 4 card is boring.

If they had even given us say a 4 or 5 day break I would have been back into it. I have participated in every event since I got the game on my iphone and always finished in the top 7000 or better. But they just went one event too many for me.

I occasionally switch on my phone, use a few battle cubes and I think I am like 24,000 or something. But considering there will prob be more events on the way I really don't care if I miss out on a Gnaw card. And like others, I'm sick of battling my arse off to get some great cards, then find someone who has just joined the game has dropped $30 and can wipe the floor with me in both battles and event rankings. I'm level 100 with a full hand of level 4's ranging from Arcee to Wheeljack and someone level 30 can kick my arse because he went and bought himself a great deck. Weak.

My sentiments exactly, if it weren't for the artwork employed by the game I'd have nothing to do with it - It really has become an unabashed money grab. :(

I was hoping for a Cyclonus, will be lucky to even get Scourge. Dropping money on it is one thing, but if you don't have the time to play it then you have no chance.

I think I'll be throwing it in after this episode, the constant "Goal Post" resets in every aspect of the game is pure b***s***...

It has become purely geared for excessive & costly micro-transactions, each episode's achievements are nullified with the next, the damage amount of one's deck is decreased successively with each new episode - You basically get punished if you want to play it for free! :rolleyes::mad:

It's been said, but Hasbro should just pay the artist/s of the cards a little extra & put out a coffee table Art Book, as it's the art that's the main draw in my opinion.

I have that same issue with Flame War, Jetfire, Cliffjumper & Divebomb - The odds of getting the corresponding Mode & Weapons cards are practically nil. :(

I detest this game with a vengeance. It is one of the most mind-numbing game designs I've ever seen. It requires no thinking and is designed with one intention in mind: get you to spend money to earn rewards. I downloaded it for a day then deleted it straight away.

As much as I liked the art, I refuse to waste my life waiting for energon recharges and battle cubes to just tap and collect points. I'd be happy with an artbook costing $100 for all this art, hell even an app, but I downright refuse to support anything that treats me like a mindless, smartphone tapping idiot.

This is one of the problems of the "freemium" model. No upfront money means they have to game you to do stupid things.

The Legends game has a deal going with both Hasbro and IDW for the Dark Cybertron mofit going.


If you log into the game they give you some codes which you can redeem to get either some free comics if you sign up to the digital IDW comics, or you can get 15% off at the Hasbro online shop on the latest wave of Generations toys (SScream, Scoop, Minicons etc).


Of course, if you are like me and you already have the latest toys in your POL with BBTS, or you have already downloaded the comics they are offering - it doesn't mean much. Especially since the online Hasbro shop wont ship to Australia. :rolleyes:

I've enjoyed playing this game even though its so banal at times. I thouhht the latest episode introduced some interesting fresh ideas but we always have to take tha bad with the good it seems. Prices for cards and items have been ridiculous recently. If anyone is interested my friend code thingy is 88265231
