Well today ive started one this project...and was doing the led head setup...
Man i hate soldering the led ! ...i hate LED !!! I cant believe everything you can imagine did happen !! ...i check the led ..work perfect ...then heat shrink it..didnt work ....so had to cut it open.... the red wire fell off... solder that back on ..worked...taped it up and twist the wire together ...didn't work again/...! then the resister fell off... ! F'"K!! drop on the ground and couldn't found it until half hour later@! in the end i think i fried the led from too many soldering to it..! Lucky i got a spare one somewhere around here ..try again tomorrow ...also when i was popping out the wheels the clip broke on me :( just not my day...

Not sure if there's a local branch near you, but I got a bunch of LEDs and associated bits and pieces (for a custom) from a Jaycar store near me. They're pretty good at the whole electronics gig. You should be able to get pretty cheap single LEDs from them if you need to. http://www.jaycar.com.au/

Generally speaking, they're limited time/limited places online classes offered by customiser FrenzyRumble which includes online videos, paints, brushes, accessories and custom built parts, and other bits and pieces depending on the item and the extras on offer. Some come with base figures, others don't.

Best way to see when they come up is via FR's Facebook page, although I imagine his website (www.frenzyrumble.com) has details too. A bit pricey, especially with the extra shipping to Oz from the US (still worth it for mine), but I understand FR is gong to offer video access from previous classes for a much smaller cost from his website somewhere down the line.

Thanks M-bot. I work on some customs myself but I'm a REAL novice at it. Mainly just repaints using same moulds. Would prefer a proper way to do it and looks like a way.

If your starting out ...you should do at least one of his classes....the tip that he give is invaluable.... To me he one of the best customiser out there so he know what he talking about... And in the video be goes step by step....
Just join his FB page to get the lastest new and when his next class will be... it usually sell out in a couple of days of the intake ....

Here the car mode..... i still need to finish up the robot mode.... He was just a pain to do ......every thing keep going wrong...i was trying using enamel...but using a paint brush left too many lines... with his new head when i tried to push it into the socket , the ball joint snap off.! So had to wait for the super glue to dry... i was peeling the masking tape off it peel with it the paint job underneath as well. :( ... shaved the front wheel so it more narrow then the back one ..Also added the spikes to the back end because it look hollow before and the front to look like the concept art ... what you guys think?

Painters tip. Never use masking tape when painting. It will do as you mentioned. Use painters tape or hobby tape. The glue is not as strong that it won't ruin whatever is underneath.

Looks brilliant lancalot. Robot mode in particular, it is amazing what a tiny led light can achieve. Cannot say I am overly fond of the pink/purple on the tires and spikes, but that is just a personal thought.

The pink/purple is that im trying to paint a glow effect like on the concept art from teh first page ....but i think i over did it and put it every where  same with the damage effect as well ... got abit carried away :D

I think I like the bot mode a bit more. The car mode, with the spikes and the glow and all the colours and the battle damage looks a bit too busy. I agree that you probably overdid the battle damage a little, although considering all the mishaps you had doing this one, I don't blame you. The head and the LEDs looks great though!:D

Really cool dude. Also love how this guy's design incorporates the G1 model with a bit of TFP thrown in to give that beefy look.:D

I like it.

Yeah regular masking tape is a pain. You can reduce the adhesion by putting the tape on your pants and peeling it off a few times. I've heard that using aluminium foil or blue tack works as well.

Yep, I've used blutack, it's especially good for masking irregular shapes and curves.

That a cool tip...i keep that in mind...yeah very hard to cut out the irregular shape ....

One thing i got to point out is that the glow and the battle damage with the added spike are all my doing and not part of FR class ...as he abit slow on posting his videos..so i just decided to finish breakdown off my way....but that because he got so much going on like the scratch build 71cm Epic optimus prime...

Yeah after all that happen with this guy i just wanted to finish him off.... Cause if i left him for a while ..i don't think ill ever come back to him ...He was just a pain ...even to the very end! the logo sticker on his chest didn't even peel off properly as it wasn't cut correctly and i tare it almost in half  ...lucky i stopped in time and was able to save it
