2013 Hall of Fame awards

A bit late (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/hasbros-2013-transformers-hall-of-fame-fans-choice-nominees-177541/), but I'm really glad they (Hasbro & FunPub) managed to get this happening again this year, as it would be a shame if it was dropped due to some immature vocal minorities campaigning for joke characters.

Since BotCon is only 5 weeks away, it will mean the nominations period is only expected to be about a week or two long, leaving about a week or two of voting on the Transformers site.

If you are a member of a global fansite that Hasbro has asked to participate, submit your votes.
If you aren't a member of a voting site, post here who you think should be inducted this year.


This is actually something I'm looking forward to now for this year, as it brings a respectable/formal element to the convention, to go with the all the "young fun" the rest of the event has.
(it wasn't included in the BotCon brochure, so must only be a last-minute thing.... and is likely to be part of the Saturday night party/event)

Some more details, (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/hasbros-2013-transformers-hall-of-fame-fans-choice-voting/27367/) noting that the initial round of fansite submissions (not ours, as this is an "American" International vote) ends this Thursday - so was just a week.

It also mentions that the 2 winning characters would be announced at Hasbro's panel on the Saturday of Botcon... not at any after-hours event.
I hope that it isn't true, as it would make the concept a lot less significant if they don't have it be a part of a dinner or semi-official function like the previous three years.
I guess if this was a last-minute thing by Hasbro, it meant FunPub couldn't organise anything (with 5 weeks to go) around their current convention schedule.

I only just found this - the official Transformers site has a page (http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/hall-of-fame/) on the current Hall of Fame inductees, both human and robot. Unfortunately, it only has the first two years, so wasn't updated with last year's winners.

I was trying to figure out what fansites are actually invited to participate in the nominations round.
Aside from the big three (TFW, Seibertron and Tformers), if the Collector Club has their forums back up yet, they would be an obvious fourth.

Those I would understand being big enough to be "international", although the Collector Club messageboard wasn't ever really big, it was expected to be "international".

Other sites I found that Hasbro America contacted/invited...
TFViews (http://www.tfviews.com/news/category/main) - has just over 100 members, with very minimal traffic in its 4 & 1/2 years. (we have double that who are active here at least once a week)
Allspark (http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=93604) - a long-running site that used to be fairly significant with its membership and traffic... but looking at the board stats, we appear to be similarly sized/active.
Unicron (http://forum.unicron.com/viewtopic.php?t=4213&p=21636) - a fairly small site these days, with most of the posts being done by one person.
Cybertron.ca (http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/showthread.php?t=47251) - still part of North America... and is part of the TFW family (it split away from TFW to focus on Canadian fans).
Toymania (http://www.toymania.com/node/12426) - a very small community, with just 12 topics replied to in the last month.
tfwiki (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/TFWiki.net_2013_Transformers_Hall_of_Fame_Audition s/Entries) - unknown size due to its nature, but isn't an interaction site, so isn't likely to have more than a core group of regular contributors.

I think if they want this to be a fan-vote of an international brand, maybe they'd include some European and Asian communities.

It's an interesting topic, with a fairly detailed treatment at snopes (http://www.snopes.com/business/names/worldseries.asp)

In the last couple years though, I've found it rather entertaining that during the pre-game warmup/entertainment, they introduce the players in a similar manner to how the linup is introduced prior to a game of league or cricket is here, except each player introduces themself mentioning the country they come from. you may find it surpriseing but there are many players from other countries apart from the US and Canada (Canadia:D). Dominican republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Japan, Korea and on rare occasions even Australia. The majority of players though come from either the states or south America.

I find it amusing that they are making this small attempt to legitimise the title given the competition being nearly entirely set in the USA.

In time they will all get their places in the hall of fame. Unlike previous years it is nice to see no joke entries.

Funny how four of the five are big in IDW at the moment, yet I think the character that will win (and the one Ill be voting for) is the Beast Wars character.

Sadly voting has ended already dude; it was extremely short polling period compared to year's past, I put in as many votes as possible but admittedly I missed 1 or 2 days. :o

The results will be revealed at Botcon; where the "Class of 2013" will be inducted, including the Fan-voted inductee, along with a presumed group of Human inductees (Who really are the main point of the whole 'Hall of Fame' thing anyway ;)). :)
