I LOVE the colours on the commander OP. Everyone's been saying how cool it is but I've been unconvinced until now. Definitely going to pursue that and the Shockwave/Hardshell set (I need them to complete the Prime cast in Cyberverse form). Might also get the Abominus set or the other Cyberverse sets if I need them to complete Abominus. Will probably pursue Cryofire Predaking too. Will only get Dark Steel and Sky Lynx if I can't get the molds any other way, and not impressed at all with Bumblebeast.

Shockwave looks alrightish, but not really anything else for me. Sky Lynx as a predacon just doesn't seem right to me... :(;)

It mentions "Fall" in USA, so that is likely to be about September, in time for the Predacon Rising movie.
That'll be a fair bit of new stock for US Target to get in, after the main series of Beast Machines toys have ended. I wonder what other stores are getting during this time then.
Maybe "Predacons Rising" is a new series of toys, and these are just the store-exclusives of that new line. Hasbro America did mention at Toyfair that the "Prime" part of the label was supposed to be dropped mid-year, so maybe a new series of toys is what they meant.

Oh wow, they are uninspiring to say the least.

Is it just my eyes or are the terrorcons made of translucent plastic? (specifically noticeable on Sinnertwin)

See, now why couldn't Hasbro put this much effort into the Prime RID line? Takara had to pick up the slack for that one.

A few parts look like they've retained solid cast colours like hungrrr's chest plate, but the majority of the figures and all of the weapons appear to be translucent.

Looks like the Ultimate Predaking could be a Target exclusive in America after all... despite some people were saying on TFW, which they claimed Hasbro told them at Toyfair.
Unless, a Target exclusive version has a new deco that these images don't show.

Yeah, that was noted on the images we came across a couple weeks back (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=16106).

None these really interest me that much, and I see we have another 2 bumblebees for the prime line.. that's always a good thing
I was really hoping Predacon Rising would have some new molds, especially since I want a voyager Insecticon/Hardshell
the only 1 I really like is Cryofire Predaking (Aka Cryotek)
oh well, it's unlikely this stuff will ever find it's way here anyway

I really hope you're right on that Boss-Bot, that gives me just a little hope to hold onto for any interesting new figures

I just saw over at seibertron news of newer beast hunter deluxes that are just scaled up legion and commander figures. Is that true? I mean limiting articulation will make it cheaper to manufacture but... Ugh.

I was really excited when I glanced at Deluxe Windrazor and Twinstrike on that list, but when I looked more closely... seriously? Hasbro is now doing what bootleggers are doing to their toys now by creating their own 'oversized' versions??? :(

That's enough to make me cry :( I suppose those combiner pegs weren't originally designed to carry the weight of a Deluxe-scaled combiners.

The Legion Terrorcon repaints look interesting enough though.

Talking about how they dislke the overly complicated Transformers transformations. Comparing a Movie 3 instruction sheets with a G1 Wheeljack instruction sheet. They want to get back to kids playing on the floors and easier transformations.

Taken from the new product panel coverage over at TFW. I think they managed to render 30 years of enginnering advancement moot just by comparing a G1 instruction sheet to a modern one (not to mention the DotM line was already toned down significantly in engineering complexity). Well done Hasbro. If this is the direction future main lines are headed you better keep those Generations goodness coming:mad:

People are looking at it wrong - MOST (not all) of the toys are simpler to make them as playable as they were when we were kids and could convert toys in a couple seconds.

AND the simpler design and development means the toys are A LOT BIGGER for that size class. Deluxes are about the size of recent Voyagers, while the Voyager Predaking is close to the size of the Ultimate.

These are better value toys, and going to be more fun to play with... while also giving us the various "puzzle" toys as well.

It's a good thing, for the Brand.

I was just about to post that I'd changed my opinion on the new BH deluxe. My nephew would get a kick out of this and seeing as this is the first wave of upsized figs there's nothing to say that Hasbro won't add knees and elbows (or a neck)

I agree that it's a good thing for the brand and I'm all for Hasbro making big money, by whatever means necessary.

But better value or more fun? Guess that depends. There are children who actually enjoy more complex transformation and good engineering (maybe not the majority these days though seeing how Hasbro make this kind of decisions by observing children's play pattern) more than size. I know I did.

I think the PRiD line yielded some good examples with their simpler and "fun to transform" design trend and in these figures I see a good balance between show accuracy and easy, fun transformaton. Now they are just taking it a bit too far imo. It would be sad if they do the same thing to deluxes and voyagers in future lines. So much for intricate and innovative engineering.

I wonder when these observations took place, as within the same toy series you have one of the better examples of modern engineering figures to date - Prime First Edition.

I think the problem is the lack of articulation. I have no problem with simplified toys, especially if they are based off of the IMO awesome Cyberverse figures, but they need to do more than just upscale them. It might well be the case that kids have more fun playing with figures that are easier to transform, but kids also like figures that are poseable. The new Optimus and Predaking both look pretty good in this regard, but the deluxes need elbow and knee joints at very least.

A closer look at the new Deluxes, they do look to be just upsized Legions. Bad for those who already have the Legions, but good for anyone new to the series
http://www.toycollectors.com.au/z66.jpg

The Voyagers are new moulds though, but are similar transformations to the Cmdr versions.

It's not some Transformers alone that are being produced with little articulation on Hasbro's part

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS22951&mode=retail

Some Star Wars figures are also being produced with the bare minimum.

I may jump at the Predacons, but I am very happy with the current Bumblebee and Smokescreen.

To be honest I hope that they display well, I usually transform them for a few days and then they just go on display.

I know I am just going to end up buying them for my kids. I haven't bought them any deluxes as they are way to complicated.

Indeed they were all brilliant. I'm not quit sure about the reasoning behind releasing the First Edition sub-line. It seemed like it was intended for collectors from the get-go. Maybe someone else could shed a light on this?

I heard that the designers left the combiner pegs off because they weren't sure if all the Terrorcon Predacons would be released in this size class. This is totally in like, a botcon report somewhere and I have totally forgotten which one.:o

What I find a bit odd is that these are slated to be released next year, but the Beast Hunters show ends in September?

Yeah I agree. They're obviously designed with kids play style in mind, so I hope they like them. Of course, I did see a kid on the verge of tears because his dad wouldn't buy him one of those terrible Stealth Force toys, so Hasbro probably has nothing to worry about.

I think it would be better to call them something other than Deluxes though, like Fast Action Battlers, or Revealers. They're not really "deluxe" in the engineering.

This is the filler line until the TF4 toys comes out in April... and maybe even after that, if they sell well enough (the cartoon is always being re-run in America, and we'd only just be getting season 2 on free-to-air here.

The rest of the new toys should be out by August, then until the end of the year we will have replenishing waves of previously released toys in different assortment ratios. At the same time Target will have its series of redecos to coincide with the release of the finale movie in September.
Then these "new" resized figures will be released from December/January, with Movie toys coming out in about April.
