A little off-topic here, but what series are the Platinum Optimus Prime, Omega Supreme and Ultra Magnus from? Sorry but I haven't really been keeping up to date with TF news lately thought these 3 figures seem like nice additions. Thanks.

Originally, Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme are Energon toys and Ultra Magnus is a TF:Prime toy.

The Platnium series overall is it's own thing I guess, but most closely fits with the "Generations" toyline.

The Platinum series is a line of repaints and remolds of various toys, most of which haven't had repaints before. As to which continuity each belongs to:

Omega Supreme is based on FOC Omega Supreme, so he belongs with Generations/WFC/FOC.

Optimus Prime combines with Omega but is a pretty generic OP. Since he combines with Omega best guess is he's an as yet unseen reformat of FOC/WFC OP.

Ultra Magnus is pretty clearly based on UM from Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters, so he's Prime continuity.

We've not seen enough of Grimlock vs Bruticus to judge yet but they are the Generations molds, so FOC.

The other toys in the series are still just rumours at this stage.

I think Hasbro probably intends/thinks all these toys are part of the "Aligned" continuity, whatever that means, but since that's meant to encompass WFC, FOC, the novels, and Prime, all of which contradict each other, it's not entirely clear what that means.

The poster above me explained which series the repaints are taken from.

Added in the second Kmart catalogue, with just two items.

A rather disappointing year this year, with only Myer having a regular size-class on sale... and even that might be difficult to get price-matched to anything that doesn't have Movie packaging.

Myer and Target seem to have the best discounts though, with Leader Bumblebee for $49, Platinum Ultra Magnus for $39, and the Ultimate Optimus & Predaking for $59 each.

Everything else is pretty much just advertising current stuff at regular prices. :(

I was thinking about the omega also, from the vid reviews I have seen it looks pretty awesome. My only problem is if I get the omega, it would be silly not to get the Optimus for the combined mode... Then it starts getting a little out of control. The missus may have a heart attack if I come home with all three 😁

from what I've heard though, the combined mode is complete rubbish, so hardly worth the purchase if that's your main reason for buying one or the other.

I used my emergon fatimus prime in combined mold so I could use the platinum edition on my Prime display as the colours are infinitely better.

The combined mode is not that terrible as it is Omega with optimus's head and junk in the trunk but acts like a freaking awesome mech suit for Prime. I didn't use the drone bots as they look crap

Also I didn't get instructions with my Omega. Anyone else find this

IMO the combined mode is pretty cool but it's not what you'd call a traditional TF combiner with various different robots forming limbs. It's more like a battle suit for Optimus.

I used to like having the drones from Optimus combined with Omega while Optimus himself was combined with Wing Saber. I really miss Wing Saber, I hope that's one of the Platinum releases, to complete the set, especially since it didn't get a wide western release.

right, so prime is wearing Omega Supremes skin...
Omega supreme doesn't actually get any bigger or more articulate, he just gets a different head? Do I have this right?

As far as I could work out without instructions. Optimus's drones just peg on various parts of Omega's body

Basically. I guess you can make of it what you will, but I like it.

Thanks for the replies guys! I reckon I'll probably get them since they are released as special editions in the Snake Year.
And this year has been and will be really special for us. ;)

Was hoping Big W could have at least discounted Omega Supreme a bit in their toy sale. :(

On another note, saw TF Prime Beast Hunters Ultra Magnus at TRU yesterday, was really tempted to get him but couldn't find a price tag.

I'd say it's the same as the others which scanned up at $44 on the wall scanner. it wasn't in the system for me.

Now THIS is how a mid-year toysale used to be....

http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=110167

Just about every size class was on sale somewhere, with stores actually listed "savings" rather than just advertising new items with no discount.
