PROS
+ Greater show likeness. I'd say this toy is the most similar to the cartoon model.
+ Comes w/ two missiles which look more 'balanced' when attached to the sides of the shoulders, evoking a greater G1 Ultra Magnus homage. The missile on TFPRiDUM (http://otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=15399) looks and feels better, but sadly it only comes with 1. So... you have TFPRiD with one good missile, and BHUM with two lacklustre missiles. :/
+ A carry-on feature from the original Optimus Prime design; the chest windows actually transform into the truck windows, instead of having faux-chest windows. This toy is less kibblicious than TFPRiDUM.
+ The hammer is much simpler and a better accessory than the try-hard TFPRiD electronic weapon.
+ Colourwise this toy does more to break up the primary blue than on TFPRiDUM with a more generous use of grey and dark blue highlight, though less silver and no white accents at all. The silver primary antennae are a nice touch too.
+ Backpack snaps on tightly; better than it does on BH Voyager OP.
+ No transparent bits! The more 'solid' colours and retooled chest really improve the look of this mould over the original TFPRiDOP IMHO.
+ The unsightly holes on the top of the roof are now gone, and it has the 5mm holes on the arms from Arms Micron Optimus Prime
+ Missile launchers can point up or forward

CONS
- It's another redeco of Optimus Prime. :/
- Less articulated/poseable than TFPRiDUM.
- Head feels too small, and while well decoed, the sculpting isn't as nice as the head on TFPRiDUM.
- Neck/shoulder line looks more bland; it's better accented on TFPRiDUM with the silver 'collar.'
- Autobot logos are these really small pale blue symbols that don't stand out well. The logos on TFPRiDUM look much nicer in vibrant white.
- Hasbro grey (TFPRiDUM uses a nicer looking darker grey)
- As mentioned before, the quality of plastic for the missiles isn't terrible good. It's that soft almost rubbery like plastic. Ditto the handle for the Solus Forge, although the handle is thicker than the missiles so it's no where near as bad. The shoulder clips that hold the missiles are really strong and solid, so the missiles have a tendency to bend when clipping in and out. The handle of the hammer has a tendency to bend when inserted into the back of the vehicle mode... I just gave up in the end rather than risk warping the hammer.
- Hubcaps are unpainted (TFPRiDUM shares the same problem)
- Eyes are unpainted - they're just the same blue as most of the toy (eyes on TFPRiDUM are painted green)
- Shin panels don't lock in
- Smokestacks have been removed
- Minor gripe: each pair of wings on each side is a single piece, so they cannot be individually positioned like on BH Voy OP.

Also, something I liked about the hammer on Twinstrike was how it could also become a gun for the robot mode. This toy's hammer does have a small peg on the side of the shaft to attach to the truck mode, but it's not long enough for the toy to adequately hold it in robot mode (at best it sits there very loosely).

OVERALL
Transformers Prime Robots In Disguise Voyager Ultra Magnus is the better toy, but wasn't released in Australia. If you can find TFPRiDUM at close to AU RRP, then I'd recommend that over this toy. However if you'd like a toy that bears closer resemblance to the way Ultra Magnus looks in the cartoon, then this toy would be suitable for you. It looks a lot better than the bigger and more expensive Platinum Edition Ultra Magnus, and is cheaper too. But overall I feel that it is worth the $39 Kmart price. :)

Hmm you just need the Takara UM in there too for comparison shot Gok... You can shoot my fig if you want :D but I guess it's the same mold anyways from the initial UM Hasbro release, except for the stickers, no missle and the hammer is a minicon.:)

Id prolly buy the BH if it was drastically reduced price ... only for the Forge of Solus actually. but this voyagers version is small, mebbe the Platinum one would be better - since the Fogre on that one is big as and painted as well.

Yeah, the hammer on the Plat. Ed. does look nice. But I'm not going to pay $80 for a hammer. :p

Target are going to have him at $40 in their sale, if you feel the figure's worth better there.

$40's still a lot to pay for a hammer (I have no interest in the figure itself ;))

Honestly, the box is prettier than Plat Ed Ultra Magnus himself.

I like this guy. Great robot mode, although I think Hasbro has wised up and is now making show characters "toy accurate" rather than having to worry about making toys "show accurate". I'm not much of a player these days… just a displayer, so don't care too much about truck mode. It's my first of the mold (I have 1st Ed Prime), and the transformation is fun enough. I don't really understand the wings / jetpack, but suspect the show will show us soon enough (I just finished ep07).

I think if you display your Prime / BH Autobots in robot mode, this toy is the best choice.

A great figure. Overall a clever re-use of the powerizer Optimus mold. This is my first toy of this mold as well and it's much better than I thought. Transformation is simple but fun. The supporting piece in the chest rotating down is a stroke of brilliance, making the whole transformation work. And it always fascinates me that the designers can come up with completely different transformations for the same size class charcaters with same modes.

Truck mode:
One of the reasons why I didn't like the powerizer mold is that the proportion of cab is not quite right. The nose is a bit too short. But it's still a solid truck and I like that it's a slightly different truck compared with FE Prime.

The window area is half red to form the chest piece in 'bot mode, wish they had a seperate red piece to cover the window. Also wish they'd come up with a backpack that transforms like the truck bed on the show. I do quite like the jet pack though.

/eidt/ Oh, and the show model doesn't have the smokestacks either, so I'm fine with the toy not having them (but how the truck's exhaust system works is beyond me:D)

Robot mode:
It wins in the show accuracy catagory. As jaydisc pointed out it might be "toy accuracy" on the show though. The head sculpt is spot on (forgot to do a comparsion of the mugshots..) down to the facial expression. The giant shell-former backpack isn't quite as distracting as it was on powerizer Prime, partly thanks to the giant shoulder pads.

Personally I quite like the bright blue plastic but I can see this might throw some people off. Paint apps are mostly there where needed.

Articulation is okay. For a hammer wielding character this mold could really use a wrist swivel. And the neck ball is limited to only rotation which takes away much personality in dynamic poses.

It's good that they kept the Micron ports on the forearms. Jet pack fits very snugly on the back and it looks great with wings deployed and U.M. all armored up. Forge of Solus is quit disappointing imo, being two small and not painted orange. But looks alright when Magnus is holding it.

Overall: best BH voyager to date imo. AND he's awesome on the show. Got it at 20% off last weekend from TRU but he's worth the full retail.

I just saw this figure for the first time today on the shelves. Considering I picked up Platinum Edition Mags cheaper than he is going for ($39 vs $44) I don't see the point of this figure. Plus I got the original mold TFP Magnus from last year as well so it's a definite pass for me
