Toy Review MP Tigertrack

I just my in today and i got to say the box pretty cool , the printing is nice and shining has a lot of chrome as i was just expecting a black and white box from all the preview picture... My first impression of the figure is that in car mode straight out of the box i can see that on the left side the doors doesn't line up properly having a large gap :( but the right side was perfect ....upon closer inspection after transformation i found out that the black join arm has a runner mark that when sanded down it was fixed and now line up nicely.
Onto the paint job ... they actually painted the whole figure with yellow ..even the yellow plastic bit they painted over as well which was nice to see , but where the side widow are on my it need an extra coat as it slightly dull then the rest :mad: of the body ... i also had a few( 3) dust dot on the paint job as well... After the GT series they have no excuses for poor paint job i reckon... This figure need at least one more coat of yellow paint and it would have been perfect...
His face is different from Sideswipe , been that the eyes are larger ,Sideswipe one comes to a point ...his pile drivers (screw driver on the instruction :D ) is in nasty black plastic and his shoulder cannon is painted in black but other wise the same as Sideswipe one.. Also a mention is that his bio card is printed too dark and have a very slight blurry making it look like a KO , should of printed it like the box and it would have been so good!
Is he worth buying ? ... Well he exactly the same as Sideswipe but in yellow minus the squinting eyes .... So if you like this mold then for sure as they look good together in car mode

That's the thing. He won't fit into either of my shelf themes.
I have no idea where he fits in transformers lore.

Aesthetically, thematically or emotionally I have no reason to want this.

As most of you know, I'm not a fan of the MP Lambor mould - which I was satisfied to pay the preorder discounted price for (approx. $50), but I wouldn't have paid full retail for it. So I'd only get this toy if I found it at below RRP (or maybe at RRP - but certainly not above it). In any case, I didn't know anyone who was able to go to the Tokyo Toy Show this year so it's a moot point. :p More money I can save for the MP Datsuns. ;)

It all gone now ...so fast ..... i thought this one wouldn't sell much .... Well my second one came today for a custom i'm doing and his QC of the paint job so bad...! it on the same spot where the doors are .... it a totally different yellow colour to the rest of the car .... im going to have to fully respray him :mad: which i didnt really want too ...
So the paint job on him ranges alot ....

As Tigertrack wasn't released by Asia Hasbro and was an exclusive to Tokyo Toy Show so no coin was made ..same with MP10B

Thanks Lacalot. I wasn't sure and couldn't find anything on it. It's a shame though, I've gotten right into the coins and it would have been great to have one. Oh well.

Just opened mine up. The yellow paint has got some dust embedded it in but everything else looks ok. Great looking figure.

Man im never going to spray yellow on a full figure again!! it a nightmare ... different tone of yellow on different parts so annoying ! In the end it worked out good ...I still don't know how i managed to colour match it was beyond me!! :D very lucky i guess

I was watching A Plague of Insecticons on the weekend and noticed that Tigertrack makes a brief appearance in that episode. ;) Or it could be Sideswipe mispainted yellow -- but he doesn't say anything in that scene, so it could very well be one of the limited (if not only) official canonical appearances of Tigertrack! :p :D

Go on... ya know you wanna watch that episode and check now. ;) It's the scene where the Autobots are trying to go under the mountain.

Edit: Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=lCDFR5HFlKI&t=591) it is -- look at 09.50, at first you can see Sunstreaker flying down, as we can see the rear mounted engine (though badly drawn), but the second Lamborghini coming down is yellow but there's no exposed rear-mounted engine which Sunstreaker has! What probably happened was that the animator went and coloured Sideswipe the same as Sunstreaker (because the spoiler is silver), but by happy coincidence an argument could be made that this is actually Tigertrack! (or fans could just retcon it as so!) :D This wouldn't be the first time this sort of thing has happened either... in More Than Meets The Eye Part 1, we actually see Yellow Cliffjumper (http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/688833-3/P6063562.jpg) briefly appear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8xxVRr_S7I) (@11.29)! :eek: It's really just Cliffjumper coloured in Bumblebee's colour scheme, but hey... there ya go. If HasTak ever decide to reissue the yellow variant of G1 Cliffjumper as a different character, that'd be his (or her?) G1 cartoon appearance! ;) :D

Or it could be that Sideswipe was off camera at that moment when Tigertrack appeared, and then he was in camera after that, but Tigertrack was off screen!

Look, As I said, I did have 3 of them and I think I will get the 4th one for the sake of having all of them. If you are not a fan of it or a collector, getting one of them is already good enough.
