I'm looking at my options for Metroplex. I'm wonder how much will he be locally? If it's the typical Hasbro AU markup I'm thinking I'll just get the Takara version from HLJ.

No probs. Isn't the TG 23 Metro from HLJ $168 before shipping? i'm not sure if you can get it shipped here for under $200. Or can you?

They may be, if they have a 20% off sale or something similar
Here's the original post with pricing details:
While looking for something for a customer I found the APN for Generations Titan Class Metroplex. It will retail at Myer for $199. I can speculate that it would be something they'd put on sale for $150 maybe. No idea when it's coming in.
It's September, if nothing changes

Doesn't he have voice grabs from the game? If so does that mean that the Takara version will be speaking Japanese?

Well, I hope not but eh - what can you do? :p
At least I'll have a flashier paint job & a 2nd whopping great gun for him to wield. :D

My 20th anniversary takara G1 Galvatron screams a half dozen different phrases in Japanese - it's awesome! And when he does his evil laugh there isn't a person I've met yet that can keep a straight face :D
I've got dozens of TF's with lights, sounds & voice grabs - he is the only one I consistently play with ;)

The eHobby Galvatron reissue has one different line from the regular reissue - where the original says デストロン軍団、トランスフォーム!("Desutoron gundan, toransufoomu!": "Decepticons transform!"), the eHobby version says わしの子分にならんのか ("Washi no kobun ni narannoka": "You will be my servant"). ;)

I don't care about electronics, I take the batteries out right away. And I figure if I'm going to be paying $200 I may as well pay a little extra and get the Takara version, apparently he is slightly more G1 accurate in his color tones plus he has an extra gun like G1 Metroplex.

Did a quick check on TG23 from RK
Metroplex $170 USD
EMS Shipping $107 USD. EMS is the only service they offer, regardless of what you choose
$277 USD = $300 AUD or ~$311 with PayPal
HLJ has him for $168 AUD, i suspect the shipping will be similar

besides, if Myer are listing it at $200, then everyone else will have it listed at or below $160. normally, except maybe TRU.
for normal figures Myer is typically 20% above normal retail, at least that's what I've found in the past. Special items they are even more expensive.

It is possible that down the line, it may be possible to find a very cheap beat up Metroplex at the Parra Fair or some garage sale. Then if you are willing, you could change voice chips.

It's awesome - he screams (not yells, screams) Desutoron gundan, toransufoomu! But it's still the evil laugh that gets ya. ;)

Someone has posted a video review over at seibertron (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-generations-titan-class-metroplex-video-review/27665/)
Insanely huge and wobbly. Looks fantastic but I'd only buy him at a really, really, really good, good, price because I don't have the space for it. Maybe if I won him in a competition.
However, if Hasbro was to release a smaller version without lights and sound I'd snap it up.

I was disappointed after seeing how flimsy he is. Not quite the brick that Fort Max is.

I see Amazon is taking preorders for Metroplex now. He's $165 shipped.

You reckon that's worth it? How much is Metroplex slated to sell for here?
Also... has anyone else started reserving shelf space for Metroplex? ;)

lol, love the picture. Much more appropriate space for him than my space on the floor next to Fort Max. My shelves are too small for Max and Metroplex.
After seeing the review of him I want to get him as cheap as possible cause it really soured me on him. I canceled my preorder of the Takara version I've got a Hasbro normal version on order at Amazon now. I don't want to have to pick one up at retail cause I'm guessing he will be in short supply. He's still cool, but not Fort Max cool. And stickers, really, Hasbro ain't got enough cash to tampo him.

Knee joints take a lot of strain in robot mode, as it keeps wanting to lean forward... and if the knee joints wear down over time from transforming it or moving it, the toy will not be able to stand up straight.

Can some one tell me (or point me to another thread) why I want to wait longer and pay more for the Japanese release?? A side by side comparison in this thread would be good with all the subtle differences listed for each (US vs Jap). Thanks Guys

Because...
(a) You really want a second gun and you're willing to pay however much the difference is for that gun? (some people are paying for Platinum Edition Ultra Magnus primarily because they like the hammer... IMPO $39's a tad much to pay for a hammer!)
(b) You really dig the voice chip gimmick (which would make more sense if you understood Japanese).
(c) The subtle cosmetic differences matter to you enough to pay more for the TakTOM version.
Personally none of these things bother me, I'm just gonna get whichever version is easiest (and hopefully cheapest) for me to get. I'm gonna be overseas in late Sept~early Oct, so if I happen to find this toy on my travels, I'll grab it; doesn't matter which version. If I find it locally, I'll grab that.
Though $165 for the toy at Amazon incl. shipping sounds good. That's why I'm asking if anyone remembers/knows how much this toy is slated to sell for here... if it's gonna be cheaper then, I can wait for a local release. But if it's gonna cost the same or more, then I might as well preorder. Though I'm kinda reluctant to preorder until after I come home from my trip in case I do find it in my travels. What's Amazon's policy with cancelling preorders? I suppose worst case scenario if I do end up with a second Metroplex I could just sell it off to another local member -- I'm sure someone would want to buy it off me. Hhmmm... <indecision>

What's Amazon's policy with cancelling preorders?
They don't charge you till the item ships and canceling a preorder is just a matter of going into your account and canceling it. You only will have trouble canceling it if the order is processing.
