The 30 Generations Toys this year

Here is what we (or maybe just ignorant me) know of them so far:

1: Platinum Edition YOTS: Optimus Prime (Recolour of Energon Optimus)
2: Platinum Edition YOTS: Omega Supreme (Retool of Energon Omega)
3: Platinum Edition: Ultra Magnus (Retool of TFP Weaponizer Optimus)
4.
5. Orion Pax
6. Megatron
7. Bumblebee
8. Trailcutter
9. Hoist (Retool of Trailcutter)
10. Dreadwing (Retool of Megatron)
11.
12. Megatron with TM Chop Shop
13. Starscream with TM Waspinator
14. Optimus with TM Roller
15. Bumblebee with TM Blaze Master
16.
17. Twin Twist (Retool of FOC Brawl)
18. Topspin (Retool of FOC Blast Off)
19. Roadbuster (Retool of FOC Swindle)
20. Whirl (Retool of FOC Vortex)
21. Impactor (Retool of FOC Onslaught)
22.
23. Blitzwing
24. Springer
25. Sandstorm (Retool of Springer)
26.
27. Metroplex
28.
29.
30.

Does anyone know or care to guess who the missing 8 are at this stage? And do you intend to get all 30 or bypass a few?

Personally I am bypassing Platinum Optimus and I'm not sold on the retools of the Combaticons since I've got the G1 & G2 colours of the toys already. Maybe Impactor I might pick up and I may have grabbed Twin Twist if they had redone the alt-mode cannons into drills rather than just giving them to him as a handheld weapon.

Not sure, no, but I reckon by midday tomorrow we should have a better idea as I believe there should be some announcements at Botcon - At some stage at least. :o

Ooh! - Actually you forgot Predaking (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/botcon-2013-hasbro-display-case-images-transformers-30th-anniversary-177874/). ;)
*Edit: Also the FoC Grimlock & Bruticus 2 pack. ;)

I would guess #26 will be the Blitzwing retool (Flywheels or whomever) that's surely to come.

I would also guess that a Platinum Megatron would be included but which toy I'm not sure. Maybe Energon Megatron but I could see that being released as Platinum Galvatron.

Could the Hasbro MP be included. I know they have their own numbering starting up though with Acid Storm.

It's an SDCC exclusive. ;)

So is the "out of 30" thing applying to everything now, or just Platinum?

Waspinator being Starscream's gun does NOT count as a BW homage. And for that matter, neither does BW Megatron's head on a Grimlock toy.

So every era of Transformers is covered by something on this list except RiD/Car Robots and the movie. I know why the movie is missing, but I'm bummed that there is nothing RiD coming out this year unless Fire Convoy wins the vote as the 30th Anniversary Masterpiece figure.

Bidoofdude

Rhinox and the like are 2014... And I'm pretty sure Omega is number 2 or 1, for sure, seeing as the "out of 30" thing seems to apply to Platinum figures. ;)

I got the impression from some of the panel reports that the 30 figures are 30 "special" toys, so not including the ordinary Generations line, but including Platinum series, Metroplex, and the SDCC exclusives. If that's the case there are a lot more blanks than we presently know about.

Yeah I thought that was the case too. Maybe they didn't explain it well, wouldn't be the first time a company has bungled their explanation of a product.

There couldn't possibly be trademark issues with "Predacon Tantrum™" could there?

I wonder why "Torox". It just seems so out of place.

Not a big deal I guess. Would be very keen on Platiking if I didn't already have the last Takara reissue with the gold paint.

Hmmm, Well I only just got Blitzwing Hursti and haven't had a chance to inspect/transform him yet. So in answer to your question, not sure! One thing I will say is that all of the new Generations toys looked somewhat 'premum' in their paint apps, I find it hard to believe they will pop as much as the ones on display. Swerve in particular really stood out in his glossy red paint.

Ah, fair enough :) - Yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if what was on display were painted prototypes :o; that said, we could get lucky and that the better paint is due to the money saved and diverted from the upcoming Prime/Beast Hunters lines. :D

It would be nice to have a Takara quality paint job on the Hasbro Generations figures, but I doubt the final products will be that good.

Like with Metroplex it's only a special edition of Ultimate Optimus thats number 7. Cybertron Con Beast Hunters Ultimate Optimus Prime (what a mouth full). I'm guessing that all of the Thrilling 30 will be limited editions.

This is my impression as well, and I think the running speculative list is misleading and incorrect. :/ Sorry Trev.

When did Ratbat get confirmed?

Also it's weird that Platinum Edition YOTS: Omega Supreme and Optimus Prime don't have the "x out of 30" on them, when Platinum Magnus does.

Yup, the Thrilling 30 line is aimed at collectors anyway so it's a good excuse to re-package existing figures and sell them at a premium price. :)

Absolutely gutted at hasbos handling of his.... I had planned on getting 2 of each for this special series.... Then Predaking hit me as getting included. Well I love my combines, and although I've loved him since 1986, even I was having trouble justifying 2 more. Then metroplex... Well defiantly not keeping a sealed set now coz I won't end up with2 of him...

And now here we are having beast hunters prime in the list.... I grabbed his box and checked all over for a missed sticker... Nope... I'm not getting another of a crappy toy just because has to wants me too.

If they had of told us before, I would have held off... But not making these easy to get is just mean and nasty

I'm just trying to figure it out dude - never said it was a definitive list, hence the constant revisions. As you said, it's speculative and the thread title is "what do we know?".

At the time of starting this thread I was working under the assumption that the 30 Generations for 30 years premise was taking into account pretty much all the Generations figures being released over the 12 months as many of these limited edition figures were not known about at the time.

However to prevent being misleading, since that was never my intent, here is what is definetly known:

1: Confirmed 1 of 30 SDCC Metroplex
2:
3: Confirmed 3 of 30 Platinum Edition: Ultra Magnus
4. Confirmed 4 of 30 FOC Bruticus vs Grimlock

Tea pot Prime at #7? Somewhere, Wheelie sheds a tear as his hopes of making the 30 get slimmer by the day...
And why does Hasbro's numbering system seem so haphazard, almost like it was an afterthought? Releasing Omega & Prime with no numbers, numbering Magnus as 3, Predaking as10, SDCC Metro as 1, Grim v Brut as 4 and now CCBHOP as 7. What happened to 1,2,3,4,5 etc?

I'm wondering if the ACG-CON Metroplex I ordered is number 1 or if Hasbro is making him a different number simply to get an extra Metroplex sale out of the super hardcore collectors. I'm not liking this line very much as it feels like a money grab, but at the same time I can't wait to see whats on the list.

Not happy now...

I was one keen to collect the 30 "30th Anniversary" toys, thinking that it was just going to be Platinum figures. I was even willing to double up on the Bruticus and Predaking and just keep them in their boxes... but now SDCC Metroplex is one. How the heck are we supposed to get one of those without paying a fortune in shipping fees (and a scalper).

When I thought that the Platinum Optimus and Omega, with Magnus, were an example of the 30 being significantly different toys, I thought this was gonna be a great set to collect... now it just seems some are likely to be limited edition repacks of previously released figures. Which will give it even more of a bad taste in the mouth, because people are going to hate themselves for spending "limited edition" pricing for toys they already bought... and would choose against buying again, even at retail pricing.

yea, I've got to agree, no way am I doing all 30, since the SDCC Metroplex is number 01.

to be honest though, I never was going to, the re-done energon prime (surely it's part of the 30) was something I was never interested in.
I don't have a Platinum Omega (also surely part of the 30) and probably won't ever find one. And I'm still not convinced I want it.

1: Confirmed 1 of 30 SDCC Metroplex
to big/expensive (shipping) and i don't like the chrome face

2: Confirmed 2 of 30 SDCC Shockwaves Lab
it's kind of nice but the deco of both shockwave and predaking are not grabbing me.

3: Confirmed 3 of 30 Platinum Edition: Ultra Magnus
I have it, but I haven't opened it, I'm close to taking it back. I'm just not convinced when compared to the voyager.

4. Confirmed 4 of 30 FOC Bruticus vs Grimlock
I have the sdcc bruticus, and the super shiny Grimlock doesn't appeal at all.

5.
6.
7. Confirmed 7 of 30 Cybertron Con Beast Hunters Ultimate Optimus PrimeI'll just stick to my voyager
8.
9.
10. Confirmed 10 of 30 G1 Predaking Reissue
I have the last predaking issue, so I'm not interested in this.

I really do hope we get some more interesting items in this line.

I can't believe that the first 10 figures (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-30th-anniversary-figures-press-release/27930/) include double ups by counting the Asian release of the same toys separately! Why don't the Asian release of Metroplex or the Lab just have the same number as the Western release? Collecting a bunch of exclusives from various locations is a challenge, but having to get two slightly different exclusive versions of Metroplex? Madness.

I prefer the earlier list with the regular Generations toy. Can we make that the unofficial 30 toy list? A Hasbro list should just have Hasbro toys, shouldn't it?!

I think it's a global list shared by Hasbro and Takara, but either way I totally agree with you. out of the 30 years of transformers, you'd think they could have 30 unique exclusives.

#11 TRANSFORMERS CONSTRUCT-BOTS PREDACONS RISING PREDAKING Set

Just looking at the official list from SSDC on Seibertron, saw #11 was missing from our list.

SARCASM: My ACG-CON Metroplex comes with gold and silver Decoys, not red and purple like that crappy American release. Thats why they are different numbers.:p

But seriously it seems like they are padding the list cause they don't have enough figures to make up the 30.

You're right, it's padding.

It's clear the idea of collecting the 30 special toys was appealing to many people here, but the way they've gone about it seems wrong and has already alienated people.

Making it a global list, really does make it more elitist (as if only having some items only available at hard to get to conventions like SDCC wasn't bad enough).

Hasbro have only recently (with DOTM) started numbering their figures on the packaging, and I can't see any good reason to include toys from other markets in the numbering schemes.

Why not label Metroplex 1B or 1-JP or something to tell the Eastern version apart from the Western version? And then collectors could choose to get one or the other and still have the 30 different figures.

The whole concept is dumb anyway. If they were only releasing thirty toys this year it would make sense. Or if there was a specific theme to the thirty (like one from each year of Transformers plus the fans choice winner.) Since it's just a random selection of toys, there's no reason for anyone to give a crap.

I too am slightly pissed because I was keen to get each of the 30. Unlikely now considering the scalpers price for the convention exclusives. Seems I won't have to bother now and saving myself a huge chunk of cash not getting these.

Great work, Hasbro. You had such a fantastic opportunity to turn this into an amazing celebration of the brands rich 30 year history -just look at the plethora of characters that have kept kids and adults alike entertained all this time. Instead, you give us four convention exclusive figures from two moulds () and a Lego dragon. Thank you.

PS: What number will G1 Prime be? I missed the other 48 reissues.

lol If it wasn't for the chopped off stacks Hasbro would surely go with I'd actually hope there is a G1 Prime reissue in the line, I never bought a new one to open and can't be bothered paying scalper prices on eBay.

I know I certainly don't.

If a toy happens to appeal to me and I have the opportunity to get it at an acceptable price, then I'll get it... otherwise I'll pass. So far the only one I've bought (and kept) has been Omega Supreme. And Plat Ed. Ultra Magnus isn't exactly flying off shelves either (I wouldn't say he's shelfwarming at all, he does seem to be selling very well, but certainly not as well as Omega Supreme who seems to have sold like hotcakes - possibly because Ultra Magnus is cross-competing w/ the Voyager).

so they numbering metroplex twice and soundwave lab twice...? wtf !!in the first 11

That just sad..... i don't think the marketing department even really care about this line or just plain lazy and then it was even approved to go ahead ...

I just think the only thing the marketing department cares about is to somehow push the first 10 to be as close to $1K USD as possible (they're doing pretty well, it almost $900USD).

Now that really blows... for buying the regular Metroplex, if I want the full "30" I have to buy two more Metroplex toys (from SDCC and from the Asia Con).
Not only that, a regular version of the Shockwave's Lab, AND the SDCC version are in the "30". Could they not think of anything better in there - out of the various toys being released in 2013 AROUND the world (not just America), these were the only 11 they could think of?
That just made it so much easier to not bother collecting the set, if I already have the moulds or colour versions already. (or can get cheaper retail versions)

It would have been really cool if they used the opportunity to make Metrotitan in its G1 colours or any other of the funky colours in MTMTE's Cyclonus' flashback.

Perhaps Hasbro has the Metrotitan idea down the pipeline as a mainstream release rather than an exclusive, as this would more likely reap better rewards than convention exclusives.
