Vangelus (http://www.youtube.com/user/Vange1ushttp://) and Peaugh (http://www.youtube.com/user/peaugh) have both posted reviews of the, seemingly, long dormant Glacialbots from FansProject - Based on Prehistoric Ice Age Mammals in an extremely G1 Combiner Toy-based aesthetic.

Vangelus shows us "Retro-Future" Tail Club (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T27misw-ANI) and Peaugh provides a look at "Retro-Future" Fangro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzK3Ti0E8vI).

How many years ago did those first pictures of these first appear? Was soon after the first release of Commander wasn't it?

Those are the most hideously awesome toys I've seen outside of dollar shops. I completely approve of these and will buy them. I hate the airy-fairyness of modern poseability, and these are more a homage to/parody of G1 Transformers concepts than a rip-off of intellectual property. I wish Hasbro would do this. #%@* Eighties characters with modern engineering, I want 21st Century characters with Eighties engineering.

They've even given the boxes fake wear and styrofoam inserts...

Whilst these are pretty cool, there is so much official stuff thay is coming out that look fantastic that I have to decide to stick to that rather than third party stuff coz I just can't afford it all.

They look great though and would love to see the combined mode when its finished.

Clever touch, at first I thought the boxes had just taken a bit of a beating. The "damage" to those edges and corners is very convincing!

Not really keen on the figures, but it's pretty clever that they've managed to put knee/shoulder and elbow articulation in to them. Imagine if the original scramble city combiners were reworked like this?

You sure mate? I'd hate to see you paying double the price on these when you gotta buy them off evilbay coz you hesitated. ;P.

These might be the coolest "3rd Party" toys I've ever seen. I'm interested, depending on the price.

Well Vangelus was saying he thinks they might go for $30 which would mean for us here theyd fetch around $60 :p'. Again this is just his speculation, as Fp didn't say anything to them about pricing anyways. They just wanted the 2 people to do a review and promote their upcoming products.

Wow, completely shocked with these  I'm not completely on board with this direction, however I do like the continued theme of FP creating their own universe. That comic teaser looks amazing. What's next - third party G1 styled cartoons?

But you know what would be hilarious? If Hasbro strikes back with a team of 5 Generations Classicsverse combiners that homages back to these guys.

I keep getting lingering painful memories of not buying City Commander, the Aerial Team Appendage, Colossus or Protector the first times I saw them. Against better judgement, I feel that I should almost pre-order this lot even if I'm not jumping on board at first.

Okay,
Since the burst of pics & info from TFCon2013 has come & gone, I thought I might throw these in here to keep this thread "up-to-date", so to speak ;):):

Holy cow! It's all the reasons why I don't collect G1 but without the nostalgia.

It's totally playing on nostalgia. It's like a lost G1 toy designed to bring back lost feelings of childhood.

I've always loved the G1 Scrable City style combiners, and the thought of newly designed toys makes me squee inside. I' also love to see them create their own toyline and IP, rather than just leveraging Hasbro's. I think that if they planned it carefully, don't release too many at once to flood the market, that people would uy. I mean, how many of us can honestly say we never stuck a Gobot or Voltron lion into our transforming toy adventures?

Cue Gok coming in with a complete and lengthy affirmation that he never mixed Transformers with Gobots in 5..4..3..2..1....

Erm, I don't think he follows this thread kup. Knowing him any third party stuff, news or otherwise and he's completely uninterested and oblivious to it. So were pretty safe for now hehehehehe.

As a resident of the "basement" ....
I am so getting this. There is no nostalgia with regards to characters, but only to the design, blocky bots. Ive already put up a 3rd party shelf space in the other room, so All the 3rd party figures can have their own shelves. I look forward to add this to that collection. :D So what's the name of the Gestalt itself - or is it Glacial Lord?

Yeah I know, I was only joking. I believe that on occasion Gok has looked in and even posted so I am sure that if he ever sees 'mixing Transformers with Gobots' we will hear about it ;)

What do you mean by 'unique'?

I like the names they've used so far :) Tusker, Tailclub and Fangro really do sound like TF names circa 1987.

I don't believe they're available to pre-order yet, but I would expect BBTS, TFSource, Captured Prey and maybe Chimungming to have them when they are.

I heard they might only be available directly through FansProject on their FansProjectCore site - just like one of their earlier releases (Steelcore I think?).

Very keen on these guys.

For an arm and a leg (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fansproject-Retro-Future-Glacialord-set-Tusker-Fangro-Tailclub-MISB-/221260871812?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item33842cf884&_uhb=1) you can get a combiner that's missing an arm and a leg via eBay scalpers (http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=fansproject+retro&LH_PrefLoc=2), but it seems like there are no bites (http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_odkw=fansproject+fangro&_osacat=0&_from=R40&LH_PrefLoc=2&LH_Complete=1&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xfansproject+ retro&_nkw=fansproject+retro&_sacat=0) as yet.

Ever wonder who those accounts belong to and how the heck do they get their hands on these so early on?

I think these were being sold at TFCon recently. Given that, last I heard, the rumoured price is somewhere in the $35-40 range, those ebay listings are ridiculous. I'm heartened to see that at least no one's bought them at those prices (yet).

oh so that's how. wow, the mark up on those are freakishly more than 200%. Shame on these sellers!!:mad:

The rrp $35-40 is very much welcome and axcceptable... that on ebay is extortion prices. hope no one bites >:(

My Fangro and Tailclub arrived yesterday. They are fun - the only bits that worry me during transformation are the knees of the not-Nebulans, which require force for them to 'click' from mode to mode. Very clever homages to Scramble City/Headmasters.

(These two (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=382375) threads (www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=368115) should probably be combined.)
