An image has been released of the Asian convention exclusive of Metroplex (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generations-classics-44/acg-con-exclusive-generations-metroplex-revealed-177985/), which differs yet again from the Hasbro version, the TakaraTomy version, and the SDCC version.
Similar to the SDCC version and the TakaraTomy version, this one has chrome parts and two guns.
But this one comes in the SDCC box, and, has the 12 SDCC figurines... although, the figurines in this one are gold and silver - the SDCC ones are red and purple, like the Gen1 Decoys.

There's some chrome to the hips/thigh when you enlarge the picture (not sure if takara/sdcc has the same chrome). Think this is the one i'll be after more so than sdcc.

the sdcc has the chrome as well with the chrome face .... i think it should have more chrome as only them two places look funny ...
So the only thing that different is the colour of the extra figures ..?
here the sdcc pic link..

im just getting the retail one and then probably re-paint him ... if the SDCC one had more chrome then it worth it but 100 difference is abit too much for me ...
I wonder if the Asia one has a coin that come with it??

I don't think Tomy's version has chromed thighs.

Nope, you're dead right dude - The Takara version doesn't have chrome thighs, only the chrome face. ;)

I wonder just how 'available to us' is the Asian exclusive?

Not sure eh, might have to keep our eyes peeled in the direction of RobotKingdom, Chimungmung and the like - Takara's is (Was) available at RK, HLJ, Amiami etc. as far as I know. ;):)

Something about the white on the ramps on his legs looks weird on the Takara version. I'm happy with buying the Hasbro version at retail.
BTW, does anyone think the chrome face makes his face a bit busy and hard to see? It may just be the light but I can't seem to make out his face.

I don't like the chrome face at all. It reminds me of the random chrome they put on the Henkei! Henkei! toys.

Robotkingdom has Pre orders up - $179 for him.
$106 for shipping

I totally agree, for this reason I won't be getting a version with Chrome.

285...that's a bit much for extra chrome, nice box and 12 tiny non transformable figurines.
Will give it a skip unless there's a cheaper option out there!

I doubt the SDCC version will be any cheaper than that since Hasbro is charging $150 at the convention so I grabbed the ACG-CON version off RK just before. I've gone full circle from liking him to not to now spending extra on him. I think the ACG-CON version will be more collectable than the SDCC version in the long run.

The only part of these special editions I'm interested in is the extra gun, since it's part of Metro's look. But I'm not spending an extra $100+ to get one.

that's quickly becoming how I feel about these also.

I don't know what it is, the chrome, i feel, looks better on G1 Metro than the new version. That's not a G1's better point, just an observation i made this morning while comparing the two.

This. It looks fantastic on the G1 toy and it's good for those that like having toy-accurate toys, but it just doesn't cut the mustard enough for me to justify the price.

I agree on both points - I like the black ramps in 'battle station' mode, because the black really gives the impression of a short road/runway, and the chrome face doesn't really work for me as well. Perhaps silver paint instead of chrome would have worked... perhaps.

I second this, what were they thinking? A silver matt finish is better.
Saying this, if it arrives in Aust, I don't think I have a choice and take whatever is available.

Modifying topic to include the other Asian exclusive version of an SDCC exclusive.
Similar to the Metroplex having some minor differences (well, the decoys are probably the only difference), the Shockwave Lab (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/cybertron-con-exclusive-beast-hunters-shockwaves-lab-set-178093/) set has Predaking done in translucent dark yellow compared to the clear white & blue of the SDCC version. Shockwave appears to be the unchanged though.

G1 Metroplex had a chromed face and thighs- later replaced with chrome thigh stickers. it's nothing new, we've seen it all before.

Has anyone gotten theirs today? My ACG-con Metroplex arrived at home today but I'm 600 km from home. I'm wondering if he has metallic stickers like the SDCC version or not. The images RK put up last month show him with regular stickers not SDCC metallic stickers.

Yeah no problem just a personal preference I would prefer if it was just a normal silver finish.

Just got my ACG-con Metroplex. I can confirm it has the retail stickers not the SDCC metallic stickers. Given the problems people reported with placeing the metallic stickers I'm happy to have the retail stickers.
