View Full Version : Robot cast - reveals (spoilers)

Just to keep spoilers out of the other news topics, as confirmation of new Robots (or images for speculation) could be very spoilerish.
The first stand-in "head on a stick" has been seen on set (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/first-transformers-4-robot-face-revealed-178144/), with a face that reminds me of Beast Machines Primal... chewing on a rail spike?
Someone on tfw2005 suggested that it could be like a cigar (Kup?).
(heads on sticks are used as prop markers for the actors to look at when speaking their lines... so that they know where the CGI robot will be drawn in later)

meh, the look of that robots face implies that they haven't made many changes to the design style as promised. it still looks too busy.
I can see it matching the huge truck thing they have pegged as hound though.

[I]Mark Wahlberg’s character, Flynn Vincent is a dad. He’s trying to make it as an inventor, and provide for his family. Then, all hell breaks loose.

Is it me or does that sound like the plot to 'Gremlins'? :p

Considering it has a cigar - could it be Kup? Possibly, but I'd say considering there has been no sign of a pick-up vehicle, Hound might be a better bet. With the beard looks a bit like Castro so perhaps a Decepticon

Does Hasbro still have the naming rights for all 5? Slag's been a no-no for a while now
.Must look into that. Then again, being another reimagining of the franchise, anything and any alt-mode is possible.

They definetly still have Grimlock. Guessing they still have Swoop and Snarl. Slag, as you mentioned, is now Slug. Sludge - who knows? He's never had another toy so it's never come up.
But yeah, anything and any alt-mode is possible - sadly

Attaching 'Autobot' like they did when they released the Commemorative Series toys may be an avenue for the other 4? (i'm including Slug for reference only) Would be nice to see all 5, if they're even planning on all of them, together again.

Would it be likely that Bay just has the "Dinobots" being regular sports cars (because he's a car enthusiast), and their robot modes just have dino-armour on them (for being fans of earthen dinosaurs)... because we haven't seen any dino props yet to stand in for their CGI dinosaur modes. Unless they aren't yet filming that part of the movie yet (finding or introducing the Dinobots).
Or "better" yet... the Dinobot element has been one big red herring, masterminded since the beginning (on all the documents so far leaked), like the return of Megatron in TF2 that was supposed to be a big secret.
griffin
2nd September 2013, 01:12 PM
Names will be interesting too... but after the occasional random name in the past movies (like the Wreckers having Leadfoot who wasn't a traditional Wrecker, Blackout was meant to be Soundwave, and the Constructicons having a couple new names), I think we have to expect and accept the names we end up for the Dinobots (and not be too upset about it).
Slag may still be a problem, due to the European market... so if they resort to using Slug, at least it won't be without precedent.
As long as they don't do like Beast Machines, which had all new names for their EIGHT Dinobots (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Dinobot_%28BM%29) - T-Wrecks, Airraptor, Dinotron, Triceradon, Striker, Rapticon, Terranatron, Magmatron.
They couldn't even throw in one classic Dinobot name.

I was actually thinking the other day when looking at the vehicles for TF4 how it's almost all sports cars - I've yet to see an aircraft for this film. There is so much potential for there to be fantastic air battles (Silverbolt vs Skywarp maybe) that it seems a shame that Bay is so obsessed with what many men buy to compensate for some other form of inadequacy :p I have Alternators Grimlock, and I gotta admit he is my least fav version of the Dinobot Commander so I hope that doesn't happen here.
Possible the Dinobot thing could be a red herring - if so they are going to a lot of trouble, even having hats being made! If so I hope they fix it in post production, we ended up with Brawl still being called Devastator on screen, I don't want to see a moped named Snarl ;)

or perhaps ask a mod to add your post to that thread.
It can be hard to avoid certain spoilers leading up to a film like TF4 but there are still plenty of people out there who try to avoid it, a good method is to use the descriptor in your title and keep spoilers themselves in the post so it's harder for people to stumble on.:)

As for this video being possibly just a rumor, sure its possible but this youtube channel has been going for years. I have yet to see any information she has given turn out to be wrong. She does say "ah", and "um" way way WAYYY too much and sadly that does not look very professional.
You might actually remember her from the Marvel show called "the Watcher "
http://www.gracerandolph.com/Marvel.html
Or her other channels on youtube like think about the ink and bleeding cool
But as she said "theirs a very good chance that the transformers are going to ride the dinobots"
Take it as a grain of salt :D as I will as well but I would not put it past Michael Bay to do this after what he has done in previous movies.

STOP... SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER BELOW
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=86423
TRANSFORMERS 4 Spy Photo Reveals Return Of Major Character, thanks to TFW2005 board member Evac167.
It's a bit late posting this now, but I wasn't aware of this news item until yesterday (thanks Cat), and it hadn't been posted on the boards here at Ozformers yet.
Here's the summary below. Beware: it contains a major SPOILER.
"Transformers: Age of Extinction appears to be the title of the new Transformers film based on trademarks that Hasbro has applied for with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. They also came across trademarks listed under the video game section: under Video Game Category: "Spirits Rising," "Autobots Supreme," and "MEGATRON RETURNS." Clearly the last trademark is the one that is most interesting, as Megatron was killed by Optimus in the last film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. To be more exact, Optimus smashed Megatron's head with an energy axe and for good measure ripped Megatron's head from his body. Now, a spy photo reveals that Megatron will be back for more punishment. Or, he'll become, Galvatron? " Click on the link above to see the photo.
Well... it's too early to tell just what will happen yet with the above, but I am cautiously hopeful. I just really hope that "his name does not change, and he gets revived somehow, rather than just being used for technology/parts".

Instead of giving us something new, and giving Hasbro a chance to sell Optimus toys (and Bumblebees) that aren't just the same toy a parent has already bought from the previous movies... it is because Bay could get some free trucks to replace the "junkers" he had for the first three Movies.

I've felt strongly since Sideswipe in ROTF that they are either changing things for the sake of changing things or are just using names randomly. Out of all the characters I've felt it was SSwipe that had deviated from his original form as much as possible the most. While I have no issue with the Bayverse doing it's own unique spin on the TF universe, I am in agreement that at least a bit more of a shout out to G1 would be most welcome indeed. Many of these characters are turning 30 next year, and the reason for their enduring popularity is that they were so great the way they were. Hence, to use ROTF as an example again, why I loved Long Haul's look and quite liked Ravage, but Mixmaster and Arcee did nothing for me.
Gofigure
26th November 2013, 06:51 PM
It does appear that way doesn't it? I'm also fine with modern interpretation and updating characters but it would make sense to retain some core design elements. Otherwise the name really means nothing, particularly if there are no personality traits retained either

Brains was a mostly in the movie for comedic relief, but if you read the comic prequel and adaptation (or maybe TFWiki (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Brains)), the character was meant to have some decent back-story that was completely dropped for the movie.

So Grimlock should be a speaking character in the movie, according to one of the upcoming electronic toys. A voice actor (not the one doing Grimlock in the movie... so wouldn't it be great to have Gregg Berger back), has been commissioned to record lines for a Lights & Sounds Grimlock toy.
The video clip might be how the movie Grimlock will sound (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/sneak-peak-at-the-voice-behind-the-lights-and-sounds-grimlock-toy/29404/)... or it could be like most Hasbro toys and sound nothing like their onscreen versions. :p
There might be royalties involved that Hasbro hates paying, but getting the actual voices onto talking toys, makes them worth buying. Just look at GEN Metroplex and the second Stomper Movie Optimus, those give me chills when they speak in my hands the same way they did on the TV screen... and you never want to take the batteries out. But when you have a poor fake voice (like pretty much all other figures), you never play their sounds ever again.

The official art for Grimlock has been released by the official Transformers Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/transformers)page as their new banner (mirrored at fansites (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/age-of-extinction-optimus-prime-riding-grimlock-official-art-179289/))... super-imposed over the current official image of Optimus (which you can see on the First Edition packaging).
