Jet Mode:

Megatron transforms into a stealth bomber in this rendition of the character. It's an excellent jet mode, there is hardly any undercarriage kibble (think ROTF Mindwipe, and Megatron is one step better in the kibble-free compartment). There are some panel breaks (particularly in the wing tips) and you can see robot kibble when viewing from the back, but there are all minor observations. As is the case with the rest of the wave, Megatron feels light and small, although an advantage of being a jet is that with the wide wingspan, the size reduction isn't as visually apparent. A minor flaw is that he lacks any sort of play value in this mode other than your imagination.
Transformation:
Megatron's transformation scheme is okay, he doesn't try anything new that we haven't seen before. Transforming back into jet mode can be annoying since he has all these pegs. This may seem like a good thing since it holds the jet together very well, but lining them up and pegging them together during the transformation process (especially if your toy has loose-ish balljoints) can be annoying. It doesn't feel that elegant or clever. The way the fusion cannon forms is interesting, it's basically the two wingtips extending and combining together. Although the end result is a hollow cannon, it's still to be commended.
Robot Mode:
http://i43.tinypic.com/2pr66fl.jpg
Visually stunning, Megatron looks awesome in this mode. His bulky shoulders combined with the shape and stance of his torso, makes Megatron an imposing figure (even if his size isn't imposing). His lower legs is somewhat weird in that the panels can fold in further (to reduce the gap of his legs) but they don't truly lock into place. This is one of the best looking Megatron's in quite a while. Again, he lacks any play value here but he is a great display piece.
Overall:
One of the best, if not the best, Megatron toy we've had in years. Megatron transforms into something recognisable, and the robot mode doesn't suffer for it. The transformation can be a bit annoying and flimsy at times but a solid figure.

Another great figure, downside it that his cannon looks so good on the front but really ugly on the side and I just wish he had more light piping.

Great looking figure, shame about the size.... and the rrp here in Aus.....it only costs - AU$17.50 rrp in Phils :( sigh.... online would be a better source if ever... or wait for it to go on sale I guess, lest it gets sold out. but the way local stuff now pops up (look at all the movie and prime stuff theyre trying to get rid off now) on sale... this one might end up as cheap too ;)

Agreed, it's a solid figure in both modes, and I'm happy to have him as my first ever Megatron. :)
I found the number of joints in the shoulders and arms a little confusing at first, there's a few pivoting armatures and some concertina extensions everything tabs into place very nicely for a nearly seamless top surface in jet mode.
I thought the fusion cannon extension trick was quite clever, though I would have preferred that they moulded it in black rather than transparent plastic as the paint application is a little thin.
Megatron is a great representation of his comic incarnation. Most of the details are accurately placed and even the 'tron' panel lines match up well, for the most part. It's a shame they're not painted, but it's something I might do myself later. :)

Can anyone shoot a quick side on shot for the jet mode showing the amount of undercarriage kibble?
This is about as sold on a figure as I've been in the last 6 months.

The alt mode is great looking, his head looks a bit small in robot mode and his rail gun could use some work, but overall a great figure! :D
Oh, and the kibble on his undercarriage is minimal :)

Just got this guy from crankcase76 Thanks man :)
he a great figure and the transformation really good...but the only thing is that he SMALL ! and his arm keeps popping out when transforming also.... wish they made this in voyager size it would be even greater... And its a nice touch that they included the comic . he doesn't really fit any where in my collection as he is even smaller then the prime deluxes > actually he fit in with the WST ...well in jet mode they same size :D

Thanks for that!
Finally cracked and ordered this over the weekend, arrived today.
In a brief capsule - function without inspiration.
Decent looking robot folds up into basically a flat square with a cockpit and wings partsform attach to the sides.

Saw it MOSC in hand yesterday. Looks real nice, but the guy selling it wouldn't bring the price under $30; and getting it from Amazon would be about $9 cheaper incl. postage. So I've ordered this toy (plus some other of his casemates) from Amazon now. The guy from the toy store would've had an instant sale from me if he'd even been willing to bring it down to $25; it'd still be a few dollars more than what Amazon would cost, but I'd have the toy by now! Oh well.

I got one a couple of weeks ago just because I saw photos of the robot mode and though it looked sweet. Gotta say I like it! The colour scheme is sweet and despite it's size it seems 'large' and imposing. The transformation is fiddly as hell and I found it a bit tricky to get all the pieces to line up correctly in his altmode but once you get it right it looks good.

Something different to have a panelforming jet. Nothing difficult with the transformation as long as you get things in order. You don't need the instructions as it all comes into place with a few twists and turns.
Nice alt mode, menacing as heck robot mode, the blades flipping out looks great.
Mine is really loose in the joints, however it seems a rare thing so I highly recommend this figure especially if you are a fan of the IDW comics, and worth it even moreso if you get the bonus comic, which is a brilliant standalone and something I am glad Hasbro/IDW have put together.

Pic request: can anyone do some shots of this guy with the Deluxe Classics Megatron tank mold? Preferably the purple-y TakTom version, but any of them are good.
Potential thanks in advance.:)

Considering the nature of the alt mode, I think this is a nice solid toy. They've made a good effort to try and make the stealth jet mode look sleek, and yet bulk up the robot mode - which is especially challenging at the Deluxe size. The metallic finish on the black is a nice touch, although I wish the application were more consistent; the wing tips on mine are more metallic looking than the rest of the figure. I really like how the toy reveals its Decepticon insignia in robot mode but conceals it in jet mode. A very nice touch. :) I get the feeling that they could've done more with this toy if it had been made as a Voyager though, but still, this is quite a well made Deluxe and a much better execution of a "Should-Be-Voyager" than say Generations Galvatron. :o
One minor gripe: I wish the plastic on the shins were of better quality; mine feels too thin and almost KO level quality. :(

I've posted a comparison pic on FB and tagged you. For anyone else wondering, this toy is shorter than Ultimate Battles Megatron.

Finally recieved this guy from ebay.
Love this toy, the plastic colours are brilliant, great transformation and he's a dead set bad arse ringer for IDW Megs. He has fantastic poseability although his weapon and lack of heels does pose balance issues. As a testament to his visual brilliance, my girlfriend is normaly quite dismissive of my purchases but this one caught her attention and admiration for about 15 minutes. Admiration levels also exploded when I showed her what he does to Hot Rod in 'Heart like a Wheel'. She really hates that guy :p
Downside, he is indeed tiny. Probably won't scale well with anything considering he's supposed to be bleeping Megatron. Also the underside of the alt mode is also especially ugly, which is nothing new for planeformers but the purple just makes it stand out that much more.

The tiny for me is one of the worse aspect as he won't display well with any other classics toys on the shelf.
Still getting him though as he seems neat enough on its own.

Cracked him out along with orion pax as I got the Megatronus version from TT.
Quite like it on it's own. Clever robot mode and nice jet mode. Great colouring as Megatronus is void of the horrid purple plastic on the groin and hands.
Did a blog review for him here (http://tetstoys.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/tg25megatronus.html) with lots of piccies.
very enjoyable little toy, it's just a shame he is so small....
I'd even still buy the Dreadwing version. high praise indeed from me :D
