The latest news in that the next Transformers cartoon will take place within the 'Prime' continuity:

From Seibertron:
IGN has posted an interview with Transformers Prime's Roberto Orci regarding the next Transformers cartoon now that Transformers Prime Beast Hunters has concluded. Orci confirms that he will be producing the next series, and much of the Transformers Prime production team will be involved. He goes on to to say that while the next series will be more geared toward a younger audience it is not a reboot and it will take place within the Transformers Prime continuity. When asked if the voice cast will be returning he replied yes, provided they are interested in returning.

IGN: I don’t know if you’ve heard of cynical people on the Internet, but they do exist. You know that some adult fans will say, “Oh, they’re going to make it a total kid thing now. It’s going to just be for kids!” What would you say to that, as far as the balance you’re looking to strike?

Orci: I would say that clever wit always makes it something more adult. I think the look of it, you may find, is more kid-friendly. But we certainly don’t intend to be any less entertaining or any less Transformers. But there is a little bit of truth to that. I won’t deny that also, yes, we’re trying to make sure that younger kids who really love Transformers aren’t put off by its intensity.

So I take it that TFPRime was aimed at an older audience, Rescue Bots is for the wee little tikes, and this will be somewhere in between. Three cartoons as part of one continuity, haven't had that since the Unicron Trilogy.

I am most pleased that they are intending to maintain continuity and not reboot! :D :)

Kid friendly... this could have different meanings. TFP started off more kid friendly, but then got darker as the series progressed. Kid friendly isn't necessarily a bad thing if done right... what I fear from it would be:
+ Campiness
+ Annoying human characters
+ Lack of character development
+ Megatron returning (seriously... leave him dead. Kids can cope with a new Decepticon leader (we did when we were kids growing up w/ G1! Galvatron*, Ratbat, Thunderwing, Bludgeon etc.)

----------------------
*While technically Galvatron is a reincarnation of Megatron, he is in some essence a "new" leader (much like how different incarnations of the Doctor are "new" Doctors). ;)

Don't forget we had to put up with Rodimus for a while!

+1 on the annoying humans bit. Prime had it nailed with the level of human interaction.

Where is a bang head against a brick wall smiley when you need one?

Kid friendly makes me immediately think of annoying human companions and hardened warriors that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

I think I will wait and watch the new series before forming an opinion, I made that mistake with TF Animated. :D

I am glad that it is a continuation of TF Prime

Speaking as someone who has now watched each Rescue Bot's episode 97 times, I'm glad they are bringing something new I can watch with my son :-)

Don't really know how to feel about this right now, but as Gok said, I hope it's not campy. The constant destruction of Autobot bases really helped the whole on the lamb part of TFP.

TMNT is quite dark now, with the whole Nowhere is Safe thing going on and kids are eating up the toys like there's no tomorrow. ;)

Glad to hear that they really want Cullen & Welker as well as the rest of the voice cast back for the new series if they are willing to come back - very cool. While I have really loved season 3 of TFPrime, if the next series is anything like TF Animated I'll be happy :)

Just not another RID/Armada/Energon/Cybertron styled cartoon - please!

I hope it's similar to Transformers Animated.

I dont know why companies assume all kids like things to be "kiddie". My four year old son loves transformers prime, G1 and young justice and the like and when i showed him rescue robots he was not really a fan of the show. So if it aint broke dont fix it.

Oh Lawd! Hotshot, Ironhide and Kicker pretty much ruined the Unicron trilogy for me (mostly Kicker).

I dunno, this might be good. Might just mean this will be a more energetic, engaging show. For all the technical positives of TF Prime, it wassssss kinda bland?

If they switch to simpler 3d/2d, it'll mean they can introduce more characters and just I dunno... DO more.

Anyway, see how it goes!

Eehhh... the Darbies were the only humans in the show who didn't annoy me. I just wanted to strangle Miko for the most part. She was like the freakin' Jar Jar Binks of Seasons 1 and 2.

I hope it's similar to Transformers Animated.
Animated Season 3 was good, Season 2 was hit and miss... Season 1 wasn't that great. Sari (and her Cosmic MacGuffin) were really annoying for the most part... and those human villains were SO lame! And I really didn't like Bulkhead. :(

The thing I don't like is how show writers decide to talk down to kids, assuming that they're stupid and can't handle stories with greater sophistication. But as G1 voice actor Michael McConnohie has said, kids are a lot smarter than adults often give them credit for. If we set the standard high, kids will reach it. As McConnohie said, if your show's any good kids will make an effort to understand it.

Having said that, I think Rescue Bots is an okay show for a very young audience. The intention is to have a Transformers story that doesn't involve fighting and violence, but rather search and rescue and it works reasonably well there. It actually has more character development and better plot consistency than all the live action films put together! :D It's a LOT better than the Transformers Go-Bots cartoon, which similarly tried to tell a non-violent story of Transformers, but it was WAY campier/worse than Rescue Bots. Every episode a Transformer would be "naughty" and do bad things, not because they were really bad, but because they didn't know better. It was up to the other Go-Bots to get hold of the rogue Go-Bot and teach him the right way to do things. Lesson learned. It was STUPID! (and that theme song... aaaaaargh!) I'll take Rescue Bots over Go! Go! Go-Bots any day!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was my favourite, a great character to get girls into the brand. Yes at times annoying especially in the first two seasons, but to put her up there with Binks, thats massive.

I usually don't like any of the human characters in Transformers series. But I found TF Prime's humans to be very engaging and I actually cared what happened to them. I will admit that Miko did annoy me at first but I really enjoyed her character in Season 3.

It was the same with Sari from TFA I didn't like her until season 3. However when my kids watch it they loved her from the start, just as my kids love all the kids from TF Prime.

Remember these cartoons are aimed for kids.

I will miss TF Prime my favourite quote is when Ratchet was about to get his transforming cog removed and he was delirious and he said the little easter egg about Bantor the fuzor, I was in tears!!!

The only human I wanted to see more of was Silas. Didn't like him at first and thought they were bringing in another silly 'RAAT' human faction (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Rapid_Anti-robot_Assault_Team) (was really dreading another Circuit Breaker (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Circuit_Breaker)). However when they installed him into Breakdown, I had hopes for another Head/Powermasters revival.

The reason why Binks is widely hated is because a lot of his appearances don't contribute to the story. You can omit much of his appearance and not much would change. Daniel and Wheelie were hated in their appearance in the G1 cartoon for the same reason. A lot of Miko's appearances, especially in Season 1, were fairly superfluous. Characters whose screen appearance outweigh their plot contribution are just wasting screen time. That's the real reason why Jar Jar was hated... not just because he was silly and clumsy. Yoda was silly and clumsy when the audience first encountered him in The Empire Strikes Back (re: the way he would go through Luke's stuff etc.) - but then later we learn that it was a ruse to test Luke's patience, so it served a constructive purpose for the story.

That's because Miko's appearances in Season 3 were much less in Season 1! And when she did appear, she was actually useful. :) The same could be said for Jar Jar Binks in Eps 2 and 3 (in Ep 2 Jar Jar was pivotal in passing the act for the creation of the Clone Army, and in Ep 3 he had NO dialogue and only appeared at Padmé's funeral). And that's a credit to George Lucas and the writers of TF Prime that they did at some level recognise how counter productive these characters had become, thus making their presence far more subdued in subsequent appearances. But they should never have been that superfluous to begin with. (-_-) See Threepio is a highly prissy robot who constantly whinges and nitpicks... but he actively contributes to the plot so he's not hated by Star Wars fans like Jar Jar Binks is. Sniffing animal farts and snatching food with your tongue really doesn't add to the story...

Sari's not nearly quite as useless as Miko -- mainly because she's the Keeper of the Cosmic MacGuffin. :p (she'd definitely be more of a Jar Jar without it) Overall kids aren't really into useless annoying characters. There's a reason why children of the 80s who grew up with G1 hated Daniel and Wheelie. A lot of fans rejoiced when Daniel and Wheelie were finally killed off (http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/9/99/Departure-WheelieDaniel.jpg). ;)

I personally found Beast Wars had far more memorable quotes (http://www.builtstlouis.net/tf/quote-bw.html). JMHO. :o :D

Where is that from? That actually makes their appearance appealing.

Also, good to know that Daniel is learning from good old dad ;)

Any direct good research to prove that is why fans hate him? I just hate him because he is annoying as hell, and I reckon it would be a fair guess to say that is why so many people hate him too.
