View Full Version : Lego Simpsons

It's probably been announced on Lego sites somewhere, but I just saw this today... Lego Simpsons, in time for their 25th year next year (http://www.toyhobbyretailer.com.au/news/woo-hoo-lego-goes-to-springfield).

If they end up doing a fairly decent amount of Springfield, I might be tempted to get into this... if the minifigures look good.

wow. with the amzing amount of content the Simpsons have in their history a LEGO series seems fitting. I would really like to see modular building sets of the more important settings like the Simpsons house, Flanders, Moe's tavern, Powerplant, Springfield Elementary and maybe the Evil Base of Hank Scorpio. Smaller Sets i would like to see would include The Homer car, Bart's Treehouse etc.

basically if they made LEGO versions of the stuff in the Simpsons Tapped Out game - that would be pretty cool.

Great news! But it will probably mean 30 bucks for a small set with two minifigures and a few bricks. :p

Also LEGO don't have the greatest track record of set design when it comes to licensed themes (asides from Star Wars which they do amazing sets of, but that is now a full-time gig for the Lego brand).

With stuff like the Simpsons I think fans will be looking for detailed recreations of their favourite Simpsons settings which is something LEGO will not be able to deliver at a non-exclusive level. So prepare for a single wall fascia of the Kwik-E-Mart, a 2 desk classroom at Springfield Elementary and some generic industrial looking set that's meant to be the springfield nuclear power plant with Mr Burns' office.

On the bright side, Ralph Wiggum minifigure! (I hope)

i_amtrunks
13th August 2013, 10:42 PM
I think they are making a power plant set of homers little cubicle, so that could be done easily.
The house will be the tricky one to appease fans.

I bet lego do what they did with LotR, split the family up over the first wave of 5-6 sets so you have to buy them all or pay crazy eBay prices for the mini figs.

Someone has found a picture of one of the new Simpsons sets on Eurobricks (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85449&st=650#entry1782844)

I am so going to get this. I didn't think they were going to do the whole house.

Does look kinda weird, though I guess Spongebob and the others did too, although I could have sworn I spied an inanimate carbon rod (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfTgxrxL9ug) which would be amusing. I wonder if the couch is accurately portrayed?

Lego tends to be like that. Look at the car for example. It is a bit thinner than it should be, only one person will fit in the front.

I'm thinking more like the haunted house.... $269 Aussie retail, but that's my base without extra license cost....

Unless they manage a larger expected audience, therefor lower the price expecting more sales unlike "niche" lines like monster fighters and starwars

I'm thinking a lego shop exclusive may be how they end up selling this to Australia, much like the Tower of Orthanc. Similar piece count, but more minifigs in the Simpsons set.

$329 is a wee bit steep! (http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/The-Simpsons-House-71006)

i_amtrunks

Feb 1st is earlier than I was expecting too!

If it is that price at the lego shop it will likely still be $300 in Big W if they get it in at all.

Sad thing is that the one off lego buyers will pay $300 for it and Lego will see it as a positive for their brand to keep making expensive licensed sets and overcharge for them. I know there are a lot of new figures being made here and it's a big set, but that is what the minifig line is for.

No reason to have such a large price discrepancy between us and the US. Not event he Orthanc tower had such a price difference.

The Minifigure wave comes out globally in May (http://www.toyhobbyretailer.com.au/news/lego-schedules-release-of-the-simpsons-minifigures) (probably later here), to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the cartoon. (has it been that long already? It's amazing to think that it is only 5 years younger than Transformers)

The set of 16 figures will include - Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, Maggie, Chief Wiggum, Itchy, Scratchy, Mr Burns, Krusty the Clown, Milhouse, Ralph Wiggum, Nelson, Apu, Ned Flanders and Grandpa.
(they are probably the most significant 16, so will probably all be available in the build sets as well, just to cater to both completist and thrifty collectors)

Interesting to hear that the 25th anniversary episode will be a Lego episode... or at least one of the 25th anniversary episodes, as I read elsewhere that a crossover with Family Guy was to be expected as well.

I assumed the Lego bit was just going to be one of those extended guest animated couch gags they've been doing lately.

$329 is out of the question. What's worse is that you can't ship Lego overseas from American retailers now. Scumbag Lego. I could deal with the prices, but only when I have another way of getting them.

Keeping an eye on ebay to see the inflation!

Watched the Simpsons lego episode tonight, it was easily one of the more enjoyable and funnier stories they have done in years! After 20 years, they have done almost every story to death, but it was a sweet, if not somewhat similar to the movie in more of the themes explored.

Found a case that was 85% full at Woolies Newington on Mon night. Spent a good 40mins feeling around for Itchy & Scratchy, Mr Burns and Maggie (I need that damn Bobo).

Got Itchy and Maggie. Felt quite a few Homers and Marges but cannot distinguish Mr Burns! I kept feeling for the Radiation Stick and Fish Bowl. Kept coming across Chief Wiggum's baton (an obviously different shape, and baggie also comes with his loudspeaker) :( Also couldn't feel anything that resembles an axe for Scratchy.

Burns was short packed, there would have only been 3 in that carton. If he was there I think you would have got him as he has two very distinct accessories to the rest of the set.

That makes sense. I'll check it again this weekend. Was Krusty short packed too? I'm quite sure I only came across one figure with a 3-sided head shape.

Krusty is pretty long packed and also one of the easiest to pick out mostly because of the head shape as well as his pie.

I think the short packed ones are burns, grandpa, milhouse and ralph

For those after the Simpsons house, they seem to be back in Target which has 20% off Lego right now. There were 3 of them on the shelf at Target Doncaster (Vic). $329 less discount.
