View Full Version : Upcoming Generations figures?

Found in an American Walmart computer database (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generations-classics-44/rumor-transformers-generations-upcoming-releases-in-wal-mart-computers-178320/) are four new Transformers Generations entries...

Rattrap
Nightbeat
Crosscut
Tankor

Note that these are advance place-holders, and in the past they have sometimes ended up being different names or cancelled altogether.

But if any or all of these are true, it makes for more random selections from the various eras of Transformers (but taking its cues from the IDW cartoon, if they are packed with comics like the first couple waves of Deluxes).

Well Rattrap has shown up in the recent comics, and Rhinox is getting a Generations Toy so Rattrap looks likely.

Tankor - if he is getting a 2nd Generations toy I hope it's Voyager Class. A Voyager Class Tankor, Astrotrain and Broadside would be sweet!

Nightbeat would be great! Scoop is getting his Targetmaster partners so I wonder if Nightbeat would still be a Headmaster?

Crosscut - had to look him up - had never heard of him! I suppose it's a way to get a second use out of the new Skids mold.

Rattrap: WOOOOOHOOOOO a new version of one of my first 2 transformers toys? count me in :D :D First Rhinox and Waspy, and now this. finally beast wars is getting some love, and it makes me so happy :D come on Hasbro, give me more!

Tankor: if it's Beast Machines Tankor that could be interesting, but I'd rather he be a voyager. oh well. then again the name Tankor has been reused but since there is already a deluxe classics Octane (called Tankor) I doubt it's octane again

Nightbeat: could be cool, about time he got a toy. but I have a nagging feeling it will be a repaint (new head) of the IDW deluxe Bumblebee. and I doubt he'll have his headmaster gimmick (which could be a good thing)

Crosscut: a rather bizzare choice, but I guess it will do as a repaint of Skids

Rattrap is very sweet news indeed. Looks like I'll need to pick up a Henkei/Classics Cheetor with all these BW figures making their way out :)

Really looking forward to Nightbeat - was afraid this wouldn't happen and that I'd need to resort to the TFCC release.

When I saw the name Crosscut, I was thinking of the Squadron X (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Crosscut_(Decepticon)) one :p

Hopefully true, if so...

I sure hope Nightbeat is a new mold.

I wonder what size Ratrap will be?

They're already retooling Bumblebee to make Goldbug so I don't know if they'd do it again so soon to make Nightbeat. It works pretty well though. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Generations-NIGHTBEAT-Deluxe-Custom-/161087055000?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item2581896498) I just want a new Nightbeat.

A show accurate Tankor (Assuming it's the Beast Machines guy) would be cool. You could build an army of them instead of tiny Tank Drones.

Rattrap: would be nice to have a modern deluxe series 1 Rattrap especially as the BW mold has been lost.

Nightbeat: I have no nostalgia for him from G1 and he wasn't really developed that well in IDW G1 before his end.

Crosscut: Skids repaint

Tankor: Better be a repaint of the Henkei mold, I don't feel Hasbro should invest the time into a new mold for him.

That is one sweet custom. If Generations Goldfire Bumblebee is meant to be a Bumblebee repaint, that's going to cause some confusion as Goldbug is his own robot in IDW.

You might not be up to date with the latest comics but Bumblebee (in his WFC body) was badly damaged and rebuilt with spare parts from his old earth mode (the other new deluxe IDW Bumblebee toy), the result was that IDW Bumblebee now looks just like the Goldfire Bumblebee toy...

Rattrap I would buy in a heart beat, but I sincerely hope if they indeed make a Rattrap it would be more cartoon accurate than comic, similar to what we've seen on Generations Rhinox and Waspinator:o

Tankor could be interesting if he's a Voyager triple-chaging Octane. NVM he's a deluxe...
But I'd like to see a Generations take on a BM character, with the series not getting enough love imo.

Nice variety in choices there.

Hopefully Nightbeat is his own toy, we will probably somehow be seeing him again in the IDW stories, maybe not in flashback this time.

Tankor is probably the most interesting of choices, someone on the decisions board loves them some Rhinox!

Considering both Rhinox and Waspinator have been seen to be 'organic', I think it's pretty safe to say Rattrap will be the same.

I was thrilled to hear the news a couple of days ago! 3 new figures to get! I haven't had 3 new figures to get since... well... a long time ago!

Yeah, it's possible that we are looking at what the basic toy will look like but for the comic, it has been stripped of 'organic skin' so that Rattrap can fit more with the typical Cybertronian crowds you see in the comic.

I doubt we'll see any re-hashed Transmetals when it comes to BW homages in the 30th Anniversary line, so you'll have to find your metal beasts somewhere else.

I don't know... judging by that IDW Rattrap image, which is more like the Beast Machines (metal beast) version, it wouldn't surprise me that the Rattrap toy with Tankor, could be the "Beast Machines" component of the "thrilling 30" (commemorative) Generations line that appears to be covering as many different eras/series as possible.

But back on topic - Takara have confirmed they'll be putting out their own versions of Rhinox and Waspinator. No pics as of yet, but going by their past track record, they're bound to have some metallic paint on there! Around $35 and $65 respectively, and coming out Feb-Mar net year. Someone should write a better conclusion to the Beast-era; one that doesn't end up with Cybertron being a cabbage. There was this Transformers: Deicide story...

I'm very much considering going the Takara route too, as the metallic paint will be more consistent with the rendering of the CG models from the cartoon. ;)

...also, if Rattrap ends up being his Beast Machines iteration? - It'll be a total pass from me but if Tankor turns out to be his BM iteration I'll damn pick that up!, had better be a Voyager class figure at that. :)

Don't get me wrong, Beast Machines has its place in TF history and needs to be represented in the Thrilling 30, but if the Generations Rattrap toy does end up being his BM version, I'll be very disappointed and look on it as a wasted opportunity.

Skids looks particularly unappealing with all that bland baby blue, and Waspinator isn't really doing anything for me either. A little detail around the chest area would really have set him off.

Skids looks particularly unappealing with all that bland baby blue, and Waspinator isn't really doing anything for me either. A little detail around the chest area would really have set him off.

I'll probably go TT's version for the two of them :)

Will definitely need to see what TT will do with correcting Skid to a nice navy blue (even if it's the same shade as Tracks). Goldbug looks much better than the first Bumblebee release, but not loving Dreadwing's All-Spark blue parts.

I don't mind this lots colours, but I agree the plastic will be nasty, Hasbro's always looking to save a buck.

I'm still not sold on the last batch of TT versions shown either.

If Rhinox is anything to go by, we won't be missing much if they don't come out here.

Oh dear, oh dear...

Well, I think I'm left with little choice than to buy the Hasbro and Takara versions of Waspy and Rhinox. The Hasbro versions to play with, and the Takara versions to sit beside Henkei Cheetor and Dinobot just because they're chromed.

Just to clarify -- I'm not overly impressed with having to do this :(

I like the big ol' Predacon and G2 Decepticon symbols on Dreadwing and Waspinators packaging.

Waspinator should really have blue eyes...

The lack of paint on his guns is disappointing but I think he looks fine otherwise. He even has the little Maximal symbols on his head!

I need a better look at Takara's. I dislike the Rhino skin colour in the pics they have shown, but the painted chain guns are a big plus. However accessories are easy to DIY paint so I'm still undecided.

The word is out:

Tankor is going to be a deluxe version of Beast Machines Tankor and a brand new mold

Crosscut is going to be a recolour of Generations Skids with a new head sculpt

Very cool news, though a little dissapointing for those of us hoping Tankor would be a Voyager version of Octane.

From TFW:

Rattrap is as you can see in the image based on his season 1 beast mode. The image in the magazine shows Rattrap comes with two guns, most likely they combine to make the larger gun shown on the cover. His beast mode is an organic rat, nicely detailed but it seems to lack some poseability.

Tankor is likely to be the star of this assortment, for those wanting show-accurate Beast Machines toys. His robot form is nearly spot-on to how the character looked in the Beast Machines series, with the tank mode sporting the semi-exposed head which was something of a trademark for Tankor. Plus he sports a Vehicon faction symbol - making the Vehicons the sixth faction represented in the current Transformers Generations series.

Crosscut is as some anticipated a silver redeco of Skids, with a new head. The new head seems to be based on the original alternate head design of Diaclone Skids, later used on the exclusive E-Hobby Crosscut and Generations book Screech figures.

Not surprised that Rattrap's rat mode lacks poseability.

Show accurate Tankor is really a pleasant surprise though. Hope they'll give us more BM characters. Pretty much anything they will be a huge improvement in terms of show-accuracy.

Saw the news this morning. I've never seen Beast Machines and don't have anything from that line in my collection so Tankor better be really good or I'll be skipping him. (who am I kidding, they will put him in IDW and then I will have to buy him.:() Crosscut should be good.

I guess now we just need Nightbeat confirmed.

Not so much for Hasbro as for the club. I've never understood how or why in the internet age the club are so prissy about the one or two exclusive images they manage to get a year, nor why the fandom in general has shown itself so willing to humour them.

Rattrap looks great, in alt mode at least. Tankor looks... eh. I'm sure the people who've always wanted a show accurate BM tankor will be delighted. Crosscut looks cool. I think I actually prefer him to Skids.

I think the original mega sized Tankor figure actually looks better than this one, though I spose it is more show accurate (I have the DVD's but I barely remember the show). I will prob get Crosscut simply as he seems an interesting character as an Autobot AMbassador to alien worlds

Rattrap's alt mode looks great. While the head is mostly show accurate (and realistic),the teeth are a nice homage to the original toy.

Looks like they sacrificed modern engineering for show-accuracy on Tankor though..

Not bad, Tankor's alt mode is a little odd. Guessing he will be a bit on the small side too, however not as small as scout Tankor I suppose.

Kinda nifty they gave Crosscut a new head sculpt.

I am not in a big hurry for a Generations Tarantulas mostly because his 90s toys were pretty competent and still look good today, specially the 10th anniversary repaint for the non-TM version. Rhinox and Rattrap did need updates (Rhinox more so) so I am happy with that. Generations Cheetor was a bit of a downgrade unfortunately.

Yeah, it was all about the bulbous abdomen with the dream, making him more screen accurate, but you're right about his 10th Ann. version -- it's a good looking version.

http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h357/Rh1n0x/New1.jpg

If you'll notice, he's the only Hasbro toy in my 10th Anniversary display. Takara didn't do a version of him, perhaps because Hasbro did such a good job of him, or because they wanted to do other figures instead. Either way, he stands up well next to the better detailed/quality Takara toys.

Of the two spiders, Blackarachnia is in most need of a new toy incarnation.

Lord_Zed

I'd like to see and update of both spiders. I wouldn't call the original Taranulas a particularly competent example of Beast Wars at all, I'd say Rattrap was better. The original Tarantulas was pretty spartan on paint aps, I had to customize him just to make him look remotely good and even then he never looked at all like a tarantula. As soon as Transmetal Tarantualas was released he pretty much replaced the original Tarantulas on my shelf.
