Madman Entertainment are releasing Transformers Armada DVD in the future, with season 1 around December 2013 I expect. Based on the upcoming covert art:

I expect Madman Entertainment have a similar deal to Shout Factory, and will release Transformers Energon and Transformers Cybertron on DVD in the future too.

I never managed to pick up Armada on DVD so I would gladly buy it. I have Energon and Cybertron on DVD so I can miss those.
I will be very happy when we get season 3 of TF Animated.

Sorry to be a newb on Armada but never got a chance to see any.....what's the quality of the series? And what was its intended audience?

Opinions are mixed. Storywise: repetitive but better at the end, animation: poor. You can read some recent discussion about the series here (but SPOILERS!) (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=16605). It's aimed at a young audience, a wannabe "gotta catch em all" Pokemon series.

I'm ok with it being aimed at a younger audience. We (being myself and my 5 yr old) are nearing the end of season 2 generation one episodes and really need something else for him to continue his passion.....not super keen on showing him the 86 movie and moving on to season 3, for obvious reasons. Don't really want him to experience PTSD by letting him see his fave characters being unceremoniously killed off

There is a Malaysian DVD release of Cybertron from about 5 or so years ago that is in English and is region free. Keep that in mind encase Madman doesn't get around to it in a timely manner.

It might be great for a 5 year old, but you might struggle. Quality-wise (animation, story, acting and dubbing) it's doesn't hold up to G1. But there's three kids as main characters (as well as their two bullies) who get to hang out with the Autobots, and some kid-friendly Transformers they "own" (skateboard, bike, push-scooter). And a common joke about the fights is that they mostly involve people holding each other fists and trying to push the other one over, so it's maybe not as violent as some other cartoons. There is some death towards the end of the series though. It's also worth noting that it's very much an ongoing story, rather than G1's mostly standalone episodes.

These are obviously following the new US accouncements, so it'll be the full UT.

I think my heart skipped a beat... I am having high hopes for having the whole Armada collection in my grasp. Won't worry about TFC since I have the American DVD collection, although the third episode of the series is... not entirely whole. Not gonna bother with Energon. It ain't worth giving a cent for all of it crapness. I'm even having hopes for a Robots in Disguise release as well. All my fingers and toes are crossed!

RID has different owners (long story) and isn't included in this deal due to that.
Chances of RID are same as always: slim to none.

Which is really a terrible shame :(
I actually wouldn't mind picking up DVD boxsets for Armada, Energon & Cybertron as they aired during a period of complete disinterest with Transformers for me, I'd like to go back and check them all out at some point. :)
(After poo-pooing Animated for so long, I feel these deserve a 2nd chance too ;))
It's a nice idea that at some point we could all have the opportunity to own every televised iteration of Transformers cartoon series; I feel, though, that Beast Wars: II, Neo & TF: R.I.D. will forever be lost to the void of Western releases. :(

At least RID has been released on DVD in the past (but very hard to find now)... Animated Season 3 is the missing piece to the Hasbro puzzle.

I would have to assume yes. But then I don't even know how the UT was censored/edited, and if it would be even possible, if Madman did have the audio tracks, to just slot them in.

It wouldn't be possible to just slot them in.
There's timing differences due to edits, and a whole extra episode to account for.

Armada isn't being released as a single set but as two volumes. So you can presume that they'll do the same for the whole trilogy. $300 in total? Uh, no thanks. I'd have got each series as a complete volume but not in this bit by bit release method.

Season sets of 26 episodes on DVD are very good, especially when you consider most cartoon series are still released via single DVD volumes.
Madman eventually bundles sets into complete series anyway, if you can wait long enough.

Yeah but Armada wasn't two seasons, it was one. Those single releases of current cartoons make sense as a way to sell to kids, but Armada is ten years old. Its not Ben10 (or even Prime). I hear about a collection and I expect to get it all not for the distributor to make up season breaks.
I was on the fence about buying these three sets but as six sets I'm tipped over. The eventual box set might get my money but none of these cartoons are worth spending $100 a series on.

If they weren't splitting the sets the prices would be much higher.

This pricing and division of the series into 2 collections is in line with Madman's current structure for their other titles too.
If you wait till 6 months after the release of collection 2, they will most likely release a "complete collection" for $69 or $79.

It's at this point that the consideration of importing Shout! Factory's releases becomes all the more attractive - Whole sets & at half the price.

The DVD release of the complete series of Transformers Armada from Shout Factory in the USA, was recently added to Amazon, and looks much better value:
Transformers Armada-Complete Series (http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Armada-Complete-Series/dp/B00GSTHDCU/) $31.49
Definitely makes the local DVD releases look over priced.

Usually this can be achieved by entering a code into your DVD player but it is all dependant on make & model. ;)

"Format: NTSC"
Do our tvs and dvd players do NTSC? Is NTSC vs PAL still an issue in these times? It's a different thing compared to regions.

Shouldn't be a problem if you have a recent TV. Heck, even if you had a nice CRT tv then it'd probably handle it fine. My old TV of 10+years ago never had a problem with NTSC.

Tets is indeed correct, where you'll run into issues with the American release DVDs is that they're region coded differently to Australia; to circumvent this you'll need a region unlocked DVD/Blu-Ray player, but it seems you're privy to that issue. ;):)

Cool, thanks for the info. I've been reading up on these series' on tfwiki.net, I'm not sure I'm that interested in them now! Seems like they aren't actually that great a cartoon in a few ways. I've never actually seen any of them before though myself.
