IDW Trailbreaker

For my first foray into transformer customisation I decided to do a little paintwork to make the recent Generations IDW Trailcutter better resemble his comic incarnation. I painted over the red shoulder detail and the blue shin patches as well as the wheel centres in Tamiya bare aluminium, which is an almost exact match for the silver paint used on the figure. The orange details were painted bare aluminium with clear orange over the top for better light reflection. The headlights are a mix of clear blue and yellow to get that greeny-blue colour. I didn't touch the visor but I've now decided to give it the silver/orange treatment so will update once that's done. :)

Ooh, that looks pretty nice. I hadn't seen the character model before and I did wonder whether some of the other details on the toy were supposed to be orange. It looks like the Spotlight version was slightly simplified.

Disassembled the head and painted the visor. I'm glad I did it, it really balances out the colour scheme. :)

I am happy about this figure except the size. Neat Transformation, good outlook. The Japanese version should have the bright shiny metallic look so i am waiting for that version. I shall get my friends in HK to post it to me, guess it would cheaper than BBTS.

The toy is actually quite big in robot mode. The alt mode is really the only size issue IMHO.

That does seem to be the norm, but there are some exceptions sometimes. :) After having a tf for a while, they for some reason seem to look like they're getting bigger, probably just me noticing all the details. PRid Optimus Prime appears WAY bigger to me than when I first bought it. ;)

Painting the visor makes a world of difference, and really makes yours look complete.
