A couple of samples of this figure were on ebay a few weeks ago, and nothing was known about it officially, so it wasn't known if it was even an official release.
Now from RobotKingdom are several images of this figure, suggesting that it will indeed be an official release some time soon.

This is the DLX Generations Megatron (stealth bomber) toy, done in purple, and featuring a small football and signature deco of the footballer Calvin Johnson.
Calvin is apparently a fairly well known Gridiron footballer in America, who has the nickname of Megatron, and last year even had some Nikes (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=14831) done in a purple Transformers theme.

After the recent Linkin Park Soundwave by Hasbro, this sort of thing will not be easily dismissed as a fake.
As to where it will be officially release, will be interesting, because at least Linkin Park had a store to sell theirs.

I just won this auction from lena81822 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331027300823?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649) for the price of a store RRP deluxe. Will post my thoughts once it gets here (should be quick, I've purchased from this seller before) :)

Wow, I would have bid if I knew it would go so cheap. I really like the look of him.

There are plenty more from the same seller :)

This arrived on Monday and I just had a bit of time to handle it.

I do not have IDW Stealth Bomber Megatron to compare with, but the plastic does not feel cheap in any way. lena81822 shipped it in a Glad Wrap bag wrapped in foam. Nice comfortable ball joints (not too tight or loose), no signs of plastic fatigue or wear, and no sprig tree marks.

The football slots into either hands after you fold the wrist back into the forearm (as per transformation purposes). It's not a great fit as you can tell it was not in the original design to incorporate a football, but it holds for display purposes.

NB: Will look for the copyright symbols, if any, later tonight.

^ Ouch.

I like the figure. The wings/weapon give me that Unicron reformatting vibe & the signature's a nice little personal touch. Not bad at all :)

So I've looked all over inside and out - cannot find Hasbro copyright trademarks. However, I did find this on the inside right leg:

From memory, the carded figures from that wave didn't have one either, just the #A number.

Those auction prices are crazy, no way they're worth that much. Given the steady stream of them that are popping up on Ebay, I'd guess that these will be a lot easier to come by at some point in the near future.

The lack of official news in the beginning is what got people edgy enough to pour so much into the first couple of listings. It could have potentially turned out to be like the Henkei Blue Bumblebee situation a few years back:

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/403641-what-ever-happened-henkei-glyph-blue-henkei-bumblebee-2.html

http://www.collecticon.org/2010/04/henkei-blue-bumblebee-sells-for-375-00/

I think if the seller was more patient, they could have intermittently released one auction per week and scored a much larger overall profit (even factoring in a 10-15% decline in final auction price with each listing).
