Doesn't appear to be anything not already revealed previously with the Marvel TFs, but some first images of figures is still a good thing. There are a few new SWTFs though, most are recolours or repacked older figures.

Star Wars TFs.

Any fiction as to how the Marvel characters got to be tfs? Something to tie in with the marvel tf comics?

This is on the back of Venom's box -

Based on prototypes stolen from his nemesis MR. FANTASTIC, DOCTOR DOOM builds a series of mechanized war-suits for the use of the world's worst Super Villains

Obsessed with the destruction of SPIDER-MAN, VENOM welcomes any advantage. This powerful war suit allows him to cruise the city streets in secrecy, searching for his quarry. It's got the speed to pursue any target, or outrun any hero that might give chase. When it comes time to fight, his mech mode spews out volleys of powerful missiles capable of blasting other war suits to pieces.

I've never read Marvel TF comics but i'm guessing that's no tie-in :p

"Mr Fantatstic had watched the transformers with fascination, one day he met WheelJack and they traded ideas, thus he created prototype transformers of his own, in time they would be stolen by Dr Doom!!!"

Whatever the storyline Joe Quesada will eventually come to the conclusion that the war suits are holding the characters back from new and interesting storylines and will introduce some half-arsed storyline which sees Mephisto re-writing the time line so the war suits never happened.

The power of retcon! :p At least they're trying to give them some form of fiction for the toys.

And a yellow Ep2 Anakin Jedi Starfighter?! Blarg! Give me his Clone Wars Delta Class Starfighter damnit (the one he customised and coloured like his pod racer)!!

Ah I see, just as Star Wars Transformers are always shelved with Star Wars toys instead of Transformers. :/

It's nice to see that Hasbro's at least attempting to make a back-story for these toys, even if it's not in-canon with the rest of the standard Marvelverse(s).

I am remotely tempted by the black Palpatine repaint. At least the robot mode will bear some resemblance to the character, and a black shuttle might be cooler too, if not strictly accurate. I have a rule with SWTFs - I only get those from the original trilogy. Palpatine is they only one I've missed so far, because the grey version was shite.

Getting a bit sick of all the marginal characters being used for making SWTF - we've had about 6 or 7 different mould and paint variations on stormtroopers/clone troopers, but we still don't have a Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2 or Yoda! Surely we could have a Leia/Speeder Bike? Admittedly, I'm unsure what they could use for Yoda and the droids though - there weren't really any vehicles associated with them.

Scroll through the first few images to see:
- Red Venom (recol)
- Silver Ironman (recol)
- Thor (new) (edit by griffin - called it Captain America by mistake)

And here for a few more photos of the MTFs in the Hasbro display from that same website:

I think that last one is supposed to be "Thor".. at least that's what i read somewhere else today (i forget where). I'm not familiar with the character though... if that toy is actually Captain America, consider me disappointed!

The image above is definitely (100%) THOR with the hammer...
why would Captain America have a hammer, it should be a round shield

Damn it. You'd be right on that. I was thinking Captain America from the name being used on the bio of one of the first wave toys, and typed that in without thinking.
Sorry about the confusion. I'll fix up the post and make a note of it.

liking Thor, alt mode colours are horrible, but since it'll be repainted 5 times it could come out well

Red Venom as Carnage is lazy... I can see how they've tried to make Venom's robot mode bulky to match Venom's form. Ditto the choice of a muscle car. But Carnage is far lankier and slick looking compared to Venom and the muscle car/bulky robot doesn't seem to suit him as well. Being substantially larger than Spiderman he's probably not deserving of being a repaint of motorbike TF Spiderman... maybe just a regular sports car? *shruggles*

http://ui30.gamespot.com/1469/vencarnspi_2.jpg

I wonder if the silver repaint of Iron Man will be War Machine. The grey Hulk variant is clever (not that I'd get it - I'm not really a Hulk fan, but I can appreciate it).

Unless they do a TF Loki. :) Hercules is also another Marvel Comic god they could do. If they ever did do a series of TFs crossed over with Norse gods - then I'd really like to see TF versions of Veršandi, Uršu and Skuld as a gestalt team with the merged gestalt robot called Yggdrasil. :D

A giant robot tree? I don't think it's been done but I'd pay to see it.

I love the robot modes of Captain America and Thor, but I think they sacrifice their vehicle modes for it. Thor has to have one of the worst colour schemes I have seen in a long time in vehicle mode. Sure it looks great in Robot mode, it is a good representation of the character. It is just a shame they couldn't hide it better in the vehicle mode.

:)

I'd go for the Tantive IV, though I still prefer the speeder bike just as there is a more 'active' connection.

On the face, the escape pod/R2-D2 is obvious, and it did cross my mind, but the fact that it is something of a 'passive' (in the sense that it is not particularly piloted or controlled by Artoo and few or no others) vehicle led me to discount it. However, there aren't really any others, so I can happily pay that one.

Never thought of the Star Skiff for Threepio, though I probably didn't consider it since it comes from *that* trilogy, not the real one. :D

GoktimusPrime

Leia as Tantive IV would be easier to execute without making her a shellformer as the colours are more similar to match. Bikes are always difficult and configuring a primarily brown speeder bike into a mostly green-camouflage robot wouldn't be easy. :/ They could do Leia as both the Tantive IV and the Speeder Bike (after all we have Luke as an X-Wing and Snowspeeder). :)

Golden Phoenix

They could do Leia as both the Tantive IV and the Speeder Bike
They could even retool it half a dozen times like they did with the Jedi Starfighter.
You could have Leia, Luke, Imperial Scout Trooper, and if you stretch it Wicket the Ewok
