I like the part where at $200, it still undercuts ebay prices.

If you don't already own it, this is one of the best MP moulds made. He looks great on display.

I think I'll take your advice on this Trent! Will be in Japan when BBTS has him scheduled for release, so should be able to pick him up for a reasonable price in Akihabara. :)

I've only started getting back into TFs this year, so I missed the original release. Gotta have him. What a cracking year of MP releases! Thick and fast.

A couple of questions that I hope someone can answer.
Is MP-11 Coronation Starscream the 'new' or 'old' mould? I have the Hasbro MP Thundercracker so not sure if they are from one and the same mould.

And what was the price of the original release? Just out of curiosity.

Will other stores have him? BBTS tends to be more expensive than the others.

I think he might be a Chinese reissue, in which case it might not be as cheap or? I don't know.

It's a Chinese only reissue. Not available in Japan apparently.

Yes it is the same mould as Hasbro Thundercracker. Except it doesn't come with a stand or missiles, which is a shame. I managed to get my hands on a MP Starscream stand from a fellow board member and it definitely adds to the figure. He looks much more regal with it.

And as for cost, I can't quite remember what I paid but it was far from the cheapest MP going. I think somewhere in the vicinity of $160-$170 delivered?? So this release, all things considered, isn't that bad a price.

And yes other stores no doubt will have him as well. Robot Kingdom or Chimungmung might be your best bet. They'll be almost certainly cheaper than BBTS too ;)

I have the original hasbro release of mp (3or4? was it) which ive modded to more or less look cartoon accurate. Is it really worth getting this if you already have the old one.
I'd be interested to hear the opinions of those who have owned either or both versions.

I prefer the alt mode of MP3 mold, but the robot mode & colours of the MP11.
I wonder if MP03 would've been the new MP11 if things were different.

Oh well, I'll see how things play out once other stores start putting up pre-orders. :)

If you already have Hasbro Starscream, then then my suggestion would be not to worry about it. It's a lot of money for a few upgrades to the mould and a cape. And if you've modded it, then I definately wouldn't bother. Maybe try and convive someone with a MP Sunstrorm to sell you their coronation set.

UltraMarginal

The coronation set does not fit the MP-03 version of Masterpiece starscream, I tried using the sunstorm gear and it's all just not quite right. even the crown is too big.

"Starcream"?? Please tell me it's not going to be printed like that on the actual box...:rolleyes:

Anyway, I don't have an MP-11 yet and am looking for one. What differences will this reissue have to the original?

Much like the second run of Soundwave & MP10, I suspect this'll be a straight reissue of the existing colour schemes etc.
Although some form of a stand like the one found with the reissue of MP10 or the existing one from the original MP03 as a 'bonus' would've been a welcome addition.

I'm still giggling. :D

And this'll probably be a straight reissue, so I wouldn't expect any differences.

Meh, I personally was never interested in the first MP11, so the reissue doesn't tickle my fancy. The original MP03 moulds for Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker are good enough for me, IMHO the improvements in the robot mode on the MP11 mould doesn't justify purchasing the same characters again in the MP11 remould; but I'm happy enough to collect the Rainmakers in the MP11 mould. Also helps to make the Rainmakers look more distinct from the 'main' Seekers. ;) :D

Considering the quality issues that Mayzaprime and I have experienced w/ out Acid Storms, I do hope that this MP11 reissue doesn't suffer from further mould degradation issues. If Acid Storm does suffer from degradation (and it's not just Mayzaprime and I lucking out by fluke), then I would hope that Hasbro HK does something to address it, lest the MP11 reissue suffers similar problems or possibly even worse as the mould continues to deteriorate.

I wish Robotkingdom got their act together. No MP Starscream or MP Grimlock listed. The 'surge' in the aussie dollar is making these more attractive.

And BBTS has sold out on preorder of MP Starscream.

I've been looking around the sites I know to try and purchase one of this second run of MP11 and despite its release date seemingly being December 2013 It's not available via a lot of the normal vendors yet. The going rate seems to be $199 US plus shipping. Do you guys think this the best I am likely to do? Thanks.

I just can't understand the price increase when they do second runs on these items. The initial research & development costs would have been on the first run so if anything this second run would be cheaper to manufacture with none of the aforementioned attached to this production run. Seems like they are having a lend of collectors in general:rolleyes:

That and why when running a business and releaseing a second issue of something that is selling on the secondary market for well over the initial value you sold it for would you not capitalise on that and sell your re-issue for a bit more?

it's just good business sense, it sucks for us, but that's how it is.

$200 is about $50~60 dearer than MP11's original price.

Are you guys talking USD? $159 AUD would be an awesome price and would make me mad :D

I just ordered the reissue MP11 from ishop2go.com for $155.93 USD plus shipping, so it comes out just over $200 AUD all up delivered plus other costs. More than I wanted to spend and the most I ever have spent on a Transformer (next being TRU MP Soundwave) but I was unsure if MP11 Starscream would ever be released by Hasbro (thus TRU AU) so I pulled the trigger.

Did they give an explanation? I've never purchased from them before so can't pass judgement. I wonder if other Ozformers members who pre-ordered MP Starscream Reissue from this site also got fobbed off as well???

I pre-ordered mine from Chimungmung and have received dispatch notification on Thursday. I can't locate this item on their online store so am assuming that it is (temporarily) out of stock.

Some of the previous post mentions ehobbybase but I've never bought from them.

Just to avoid confusion (since the online store uses a confusing name), since people are throwing around "ehobby" and "ehobbybase", it should be noted that the HK online store is at ehobbybaseshop (http://www.ehobbybaseshop.com/) for anyone looking for it. (note that it isn't in Japan, and has nothing to do with ehobby)

The reissue Starscream (which is by Hasbro HK not TakaraTomy) is on there for a hefty US$190 (http://www.ehobbybaseshop.com/?p=6&ev=&id=10), or US$180 (http://www.ehobbybaseshop.com/?p=6&ev=&id=968) if you don't mind a dented corner to the box. Otherwise, BBTS have it for US$200 (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11770&mode=retail) if you prefer them.

(A mould that already paid for itself, is supposed to be cheaper when used again... not double the price - it's like Hasbro HK are preventing scalping by being the scalpers and pricing their items based on what they see it is going for on ebay)

Yes but they are trying to maximise their profits, if there is a market out there willing to pay that sort of money for this why wouldn't they charge those prices? I'm not part of that market and if this release was $100 I would probably think about it.

We've seen them do this with multiple different releases over the last few years and it's not just Hasbro HK.

I noticed what appears to be 2 different boxes for MP-11 floating around the web.

http://tformers.net/g/generated/17393/takara-masterpiece-mp-11-coronation-starscream%20(01)__scaled_600.jpg

and

Is the first picture simply the initial MP-11 issue? Apart from the box itself, are the contents identical?

Thanks
