I hope there's a way to collapse the backpack better, but I like it. Looks like a Voyager. EDIT: It's confirmed to be a Leader....:(

This must be a 'premium version'...........to many paint apps and chrome to be a Hasbro version. Looks great though.

I dislike how the whole robot front is made without truck parts - it looks very similar to a shellformer. It still could be fun to transform but the chest looks more like TF:Prime Ultra Magnus than Optimus to me. The chest does lift up so a matrix (probably just sculpting) could be in there.

I notice a lot of (large pieces) vehicle parts hanging off the arms, back and back of the feet. I hope this isn't leader class but a first hack voyager.

the paint apps are great but it could be just for the display model.

Looks like he has a luge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvam9BhUL10) strapped to his back.

Can't say i'm a fan.

That's exactly what I thought too.

I quote like the vehicle mode, but the robot doesn't really inspire confidence.

Looks incredibly simple for a Leader class figure as well. Hmm, While the vehicle mode is different enough to distinguish him from previous Movie Ops, I think if they package him in robot mode, there'll be a lot of "No Johnny, you already have that Optimus" coming from parents, as it just looks too similar to the others in robot mode.

My thoughts exactly!

Didn't Hasbro say a while back that they would be simplifying transformations and bettering the little details like paint apps? This figure seems to be in line with that.

Positively there doesn't appear to be any major gimmicks like mechtech to detract from the figure itself.

It's the way Hasbro show off their toys at the fairs and cons now. If you look back, we all thought Ultimate OP was going to be really cool because it had all the extra paint apps, but when it was released it had none. It is very irritating but it's the way Hasbro have decided to market, I guess.

I hope this toy at least comes with the chrome.

Looks interesting and look forward to seeing the CGI model to compare.

I was wondering yesterday what TF news might come out of the NY comic con, and its already started.

Mmmmmmmm, what a delicious looking shell.

My wallet and display space are both very happy another movie is coming out, as it saves them both a lot of hassle. Especially if this is all we can expect (minus the chrome, extar detailed paint apps, size) from a Leader class figure. A very simple figure, which is good compared to previous movie toys, but sometimes things can be too simple.

I wholeheartedly agree, while I'll see the movie ( & probably enjoy it), I highly doubt I'll be buying any of this trash

that's... not what I was hoping for
and his chest really looks like prime magnus... weird
hopefully some of the other figures from AoE look better than prime, that sword is pretty nice though
I didn't know another comic con was coming up, can we expect more transformers news over the next few days?

Terrible design - lately (with the exception of some Generations line), the new line of TFs have turned me off with their designs and transformations and this latest is even worse.

Optimus AOE seems to be carrying an awful lot of "truck-kibble" on his back - and as someone else has mentioned it looks like a "luge". This wasn't a problem on the previous movie series Leader-class Optimus.

Also the mustard-yellow sword and "key" also looks terrible.

All in all scrap these crappy toys and let's get back to some G1 goodness like the latest Generations Metroplex and add some paint apps to that instead.

Official pics out. Oh dear dat backpack....Kinda reminds of DotM Ultimate Prime. Maybe this can combine as well...

Suppose this is a rather faithful representation of the new movie Optimus design, then I already like it a lot. Dig the knight motif. And he will be the first Optimus since Armada to not have window chest (and people are STILL complaining about fake chest....)

One thing of note, this is part of the Generations line, which is supposedly geared towards collectors. So no line-wide gimmick and I'm surprised to see chrome. But after they gave us so many great figures in Generations this feels like a major step back, engineering wise.

Generations line?

I think I will wait before I form an opinion... On the other hand, I don't like the bot mode, that backpack is awful. The vehicle looks awesome.

This interests me in no way whatsoever (I may have threw up in my mouth a little looking at that backpack), and that's coming from an extensive collector of movie toys over the last decade. BUT, it looks like something a kid could play with and transform without too much help, and that's really more important than servicing the older fanboys.

I think the wheels on the back look okay (seemingly the only one that does; I hope it's in the CGI model) but it's the parts behind the hips that don't look good. They are hidden in the stock photo and they might fold back more than in those first pics.

Can't say that one is a leader class.
Looks so cheap, should call it light class.

The description suggests this might be a "preview" type figure, like the "first edition" Prime toys that were meant to be released as part of the Generation line ahead of the Prime line proper. So the AOE line figures might be a simpler/gimmicky from this example (good or bad thing?).

Here's hoping they avoid gimmicks. Maybe they'll focus on those weapon accessories instead.

Another possible explanation they put this in the Generations line could be to prevent retailers from skipping the Generations line altogether in a movie year.

I'll be buying one & i suspect quite a few other figures too. That alt mode is just too good for me to pass up, even though it's missing a few bits, like headlights :p

+1 Getting this mainly for the truck, and he'll stay in truck mode on display.:D

That's exactly what I thought, he looks like the TFPrime RiD Ultra Magnus toy. And not in a good way :( I've bought the leader class Prime from the last 3 movies, will have to think hard if I want that to keep going or if I will skip this piece of slag

Yes. My initial thought was of a hand trolley strapped to his back.

I'll pass on this one.

a very good point, and something that Hasbro brought up at Botcon this year. An intention to split the toy design, some complex items for the older more "mature" fan and other items just as big but with less transformation steps to allow for more fluid toy play for younger fans.

Weird that this is being promoted in the press release as a Generations toy. My guess is either Hasbro is promoting it that way as a "preview" of the new movie line or - and this will horrify some fans, I'm sure - this is actually the "older collector" version of the toy and they are now using Generations as a banner for all toys with any kind of decent articulation and looks, and the movie mainline will be even simpler. Either way I hope we get it in Aus.

pretty sure he's just a preview figure being released in generations

he'll probably end up being 1 of "the 30 exclusives" too

Time to start saving up money for the next line of movie toys

Digging the new Prime look though, the smoke stacks make him look tribal-ee.
