I couldn't find it posted anywhere else so I hope it's ok to link to another board like this.

What do you guys think? I like the style. Not sure about the curvy head crest, though. And the upper arms look disproportionately short, which bugs me.

Yeah I've been watching this guy, somehow Hasbro's Classics Galvatron always felt a bit wanting for such a major figure in the TF universe, hoping this guy will have more presence. Looking good so far.

He looks great so far. I'd need to see in-hand reviews before committing since it's from UniqueToys. Glad they've made a drastic step up from their not-Predaking release in terms of sculpted detail.

Best rendition of Galvatron since G1 and nobody else has taken up the challenge to make a proper representation of the character (not even Hasbro as that deluxe doesn't really count).

The toy looks to have a gorgeous sculpt. I'm a little iffy about the curvy head crest as well, of all the artistic liberties to take that is one of the most detracting.

That said, colours can change everything!

So how tall is TFP Ultra Magnus? I don't collect TF Prime so I am not sure but from what I understand, it's a fairly short Voyager isn't it?

The sculpt and proportions on this is spot on...
It's got a nice anime samurai appearance (to me at least).

It's kind of a stand/third leg, mostly for alt-mode balance/stability - I think. The original G1 design had something similar.

its a shame that i really like this design except for the face. its not menacing and crazy enough - he just looks slightly annoyed. as for size, it would be nice MP sized but with the upcoming MP Ultra Magnus, there's a chance for a Takara Galvatron.

There are a few significant things that I don't like about this toy and that is one of them. However this is the best rendition of Galvatron we have gotten and nobody else (not even Hasbro) seems to be willing to do the character justice so this is it. It's still good as I wouldn't be buying it otherwise..

Things I don't like are:

- The wrists. I don't care what they say, wrist articulation is not overly difficult to incorporate. This is more of a design omission than an engineering consequence.

- The white. It should have been gray not so white.

I like the overall design a lot but feel a bit annoyed at having to 'fix' some of the things that should have already been there. If someone else was doing a Galvatron with a similar competent sculpt and engineering but with these small refinements, chances are I would be going with that instead of UT.

Still good and worth getting for sure. It is a good competent representation of Galvatron just that it could be better.

The orange is gret, but I don't like the grey, that much. it's too muted and just doesn't pop.

I don't have any real problem with the first release, the orange gun is the main improvement here for me.

More than content with the first release, so I'll wait until they release a classic comic version. :D

This toy essentially stole the transformation scheme from Jizai Toys (http://jizaitoys.up.seesaa.net/image/galvatron_change.swf) - a really clever approach - but i never noticed until later that Jizai's transformation scheme doesn't end up with the colours for the back of cannon mode in the right spot:

It's gonna take some serious ingenuity to pull that off!
Likely they'd have to stick with some derivative of the G1 toy's transformation and somehow store the white cannon front within the robot's chest.
Can anyone else see another way it could be done?

Actually, maybe they could keep the leg transformation from Jizai/Unique and instead swap out some parts from inside the chest for the back of the cannon. Still have to store the arms somewhere though!

Apparently there are 2 versions of the Unique toys Vintage color version of Mania King. One version has the cannon with a laser pointer, I just read the listing on Robot Kingdom and they have a list of warnings, like do not point at a person's eyes, also they wont ship the item to USA and several other countries. Australia was not included I don't think, but I wouldn't risk getting this product as the laser pointer feature might be illegal and will be held up at customs.

This may of already been mentioned somewhere already but I thought its worth repeating.

There is another version with an LED in the cannon.

For what it's worth, mine arrived this morning and wasn't opened by customs. It only came through WA though according to the tracking, so other states could be different... and i also might have just got lucky! Mine came from Chimungmung (in a reversed out beer carton box no less!)

The new deco is really nice, and the laser extends for quite some distance! His side skirts have been painted a purple that doesn't quite match the rest, but since they're so small it's not really that noticeable at a glance. You can actually see it on the promo pics now that i look at them closer. This version also comes in a more standard cardboard box, and a plastic tray instead of foam on the previous release. Can't wait to transform him later on!

May I ask if there's anything glaringly obviously on the figures display box that indicates it has a laser pointer? Because if not, any xray image is just going to look like a humanoid toy, which is probably the case why you got yours, lol.

There's some text on the box, pointing to the cannon that says "Lazer lights"... and mine had a separate slip of paper with basic warnings about lasers.

I received an email from RobotKingdom last week about this. They wrote saying that there are 2 versions of ManiaKing being shipped. One with laser, another with LED. This was due to various countries which had restrictions in place for laser devices.

They mentioned that Australia was listed as one of those, and gave the option to say which version I wanted them to ship me. If I didn't reply, they would ship me the LED version (to be safe). So I updated them to ship the LED version. Still waiting on item arrival atm.
