acid storm is available for online purchase at TRU. Get em before the scampers do.

http://www.toysrus.com.au/transformers-masterpiece-acid-storm/w1/i4020556/#vwocamp

Price is $100 (same as in store). Shipping extra (usually about $10 for one).

Items will ship from your nearest store, so delays are possible if your nearest store is out of stock and the order gets forwarded to the next-nearest store.

Yeah Acid Storm shouldn't sell out too quickly, considering you could buy one from the US for close to the same price they are being sold here.

If not wrong Acid Storm had less stock than Soundwave, so technically if you are a true fan you buy it online and not risk. I decided to buy it first and decide whether I want to keep it later or sell it.

After being mislead with Soundwave, I think I decided not to waste my time at the store FOR WA, is basically a loosing end.

I am pretty sure this would sell as quick once people realised Soundwave is no longer available they grab the next best thing.

That term gets thrown around a fair bit without meaning to sound condescending. A better term would be "focussed" or "desperate"... as it suggests that a person is more passionately keen to acquire certain key figures or complete a set or series. Using the word "true" is very subjective, and gets some people defensive, when it isn't being intended as an insult.

Wow... it was there just a couple hours ago when I posted about Soundwave's page being taken down.
It shouldn't have sold out already. Perhaps they are just trying to prevent over-selling it like they probably did with Soundwave.

yah I would think so, I have no problem with that though. Like said a True crazy nut wouldn't care and buy it. That doesn't mean you are not a Transformers fan, I meant towards the all out to "collect them all" kind of people. sorry if that sentence kind of put some of you guys off. gee... my bad.

What Griff said. "True Fan" gets thrown around a lot and is very very subjective these days. We are all fans, and personally I think there is no "true" fan because it doesn't matter whether someone has been collecting for the last 30 years or only just recently.

Not trying to have a go at you though drifand, just trying to show my view.

But in any case, I am glad I got someone to get one for me from a store. I prefer to buy instore. Yea I can miss out but knowing it was actually coming out here to stores I wanted to give it a chance to get it that way. Lots of other things however I buy online (Generations, Tak MPs,) when I am not so sure we are going to get them. The latter I know we won't get instore, earlier we used to with MP Magnus, but as far as I know he was the only one to come to Target, and Ghost Starscream to Toys R Us.

I ordered the acid storm later but arrived before SW. It says it was posted from Bankstown.

Maybe SW coming from Perth? It said it was despatched 3 days ago and acid storm only took 1 day. :)

By the way, I went to china 2 weeks ago. In guang zhou and the TF scene is weak there but the tru prices are ridiculous. Each tru had over a hundred of SW and acid storm. But here are the converted prices.

SW $250
Acid storm, $150

Needless to say left it on the shelve :) and bought from aust.

Acid storm is appearing in TRU stores. You would think they would allocate these units to back fill the paid up online orders (as was the case for MP Soundwave).

I am not going through the whole calling crap again, is a waste of time. Every time they won't hold reserves but I see one behind the counter some how, and none on the shelves.

I never actually seen a single soundwave on the shelves in my case but only called and ONLY one TRU had stock in WA by the time I called. Morley TRU in WA had like 3 on reserved and I saw none available. It is lucky I had the online order.

I've also figured out that this is the US TRU site and not applicable here.

compared to the Retail prices they paid for these in the states, we've had pretty good pricing on all these here, except the grimlock/bruticus set.

Considering our minimum wage is what, nearly 2.5 times the US, and that the US price you quote is subject to sales tax where applicable, I think you're really using a very poor example to prove your point...

The US$ buying power is greater because of lower cost of things there.
Aussie may have higher salary but stuff here are more expensive in general.

griffin
15th November 2013, 12:04 AM
Comparing Minimum wages isn't indicative of the two general socio-economic standards of the two countries... especially when many of the minimum wage jobs over there don't take into account tips/gratuities that many employers take into account when paying their employees.
A better comparison would be the average wage of both countries (or the Median - which is total earnings divided by the population, so that it takes into account low income, average income, and high income earners... because "luxury" items like collector figures aren't going to be bought by many/any of the lowest income earners, making it moot comparing minimum wages of both countries).

In about 2007/2008 the Median in America was about US$54,000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Median_US_household_income.png).
At the same time, the Median in Australia was about US$44,000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median_household_income_in_Australia_and_New_Zeala nd).
(this figure apparently takes into account exchange rate fluctuation... because our average in AU$ was about $66,000, which is still only a little more than the figure in America... if our dollars had actually been of equal value)

And that's only as high as it is, due to the number of people in Australia earning massive money from the Mining Boom... throwing out the average in the last 15 years. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ABS-5220.0-AustralianNationalAccounts-StateAccounts-HouseholdIncomeAccountPerCapitaAustralia-CurrentPrices-TotalGrossIncomePerCapita-A2335031A.svg)
(while the American average has been pretty flat for the last 7 years (http://www.tradingeconomics.com/charts/australia-wages.png?s=australiawag&d1=20020101&d2=20131231&URL2=/united-states/wages&type=line&title=AUSTRALIA%20WAGES%20|%20%20UNITED%20STATES%2 0WAGES))

If that Boom hadn't happened, we'd still be significantly lower than the Average American wage (which is more indicative to the average standard of living), and it's mostly the average consumer who buys toys... because it isn't a necessity like food, clothing or accommodation that the minimum wage-earner is often only able to afford.

Still... ignoring the statistics above that disprove the suggestion that we should have higher prices, due to the myth of us having 2.5 times the living standard than America, it doesn't justify the "Australia Tax" that companies like Hasbro apply to foreign items - that doubles the price of items for us (consumers), when it doesn't cost them double to import them... particularly during a time when the exchange rate was at, or near, parity in recent years, making it easy to prove that they have been scamming retailers (and us) in a BIG way (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=293808#post293808).

Oh, I don't totally disagree. For the most part in fact, I do agree.

That being said, the example of a $75.00 toy going for (essentially) $91.00 (a discrepancy of $16.00) is pretty tolerable in consideration of a number of factors, including isolation (and thus cost per unit), lack of decent distribution networks (when compared to the US), the exchange rate, and the minimum wage arguments.

I think the argument is there. I just don't think Acid Storm is the example to hold up, y'know?

griffin
15th November 2013, 05:14 AM
Historically, the larger the Transformers toy here, the closer it gets to US pricing.

But in this case, he was linking to the toy while it was on sale for US$48, so comparatively it was a significant difference... but yes, it isn't the best example of "Australia Tax" with TFs.
Deluxes have always been the best example... constantly being priced here for around double US$ value, when it doesn't cost any different for it to be sold here compared to in America.

drifand

I only think it was a sale so it is just one of those things, the normal rrp to reflects correct prices imo. I have no dispute over either prices.
