Got this in HK. Joints are not good. Wonderful transformation.
He also has soft plastic, and I think the design is very clever.

I hate this with a passion. If it had a metal look and not a skin/leather look, I'd love it. Hate the face. Looks more like something out of MOTU. I watched Peaughs video review of this and it was flopping all over the place with loose joints.

Joints are really loosy. I have no idea why. This wave, all of them shared the same joints problem.

It's Beast Wars. If you don't like the style of that show then best to keep away, not for you.

However disappointing about the loose joints. I hope its isolated to the Hasbro version but probably Tak-Tom has it too.

Transmetal Rhinox is a robotic rhinoceros. But Transmetals flopped in Japan where a lot of fans preferred the more realistic organic modes of the original BW TFs - a lot of collectors complaining that the Transmetals just aren't robots in disguise. A metallic rhino isn't foolin' anyone (sorry Ramhorn and Headstrong ;))

This Rhinox toy looks great. A significant improvement over the original (which was already a great toy). The detail in the sculpting is just exquisite. Want! :D

Looks awesome!
A must have figure... amazing cartoon accuracy.
It's not a shellformer any longer!
Want it.

At least with Ramhorn, he can transform into a convincing micro-cassette :)

Perhaps the loose joints have caused a delay in production and thus a delay to market. BBTS have said he'd have a November release, but they've only got 72 hours to come good on that.

Even if he's just a loose statue that's pain to transform, that robot mode looks so perfect I just would not care. Can't wait for the preorder to come in!

So got him and love him. As only those with long memories would recall, I once had the username Rhinox around here. He's one of my favourite characters but the original toy never a favourite and the statue was just a statue.

This one is basically perfect. He's got the size now, and he looks amazing. Even the limited colouring on the chain guns isn't a big deal since the design of them makes up for it.

As a beastie there's still panel forming to be done, some of it is a bit fiddily. In Rhino mode he doesn't have a lot of poseability (nor do most vehicle TFs in alt mode either) but he hides the robot mode very well and even has a bit of Beast Wars traditional hidden weapon storage.

His robot legs are weaker than you'd want and the shoulders are a bit weak too (what is it with shoulders these days!) but he looks so good in robot mode I forgive the flaws.

If they redo this figure as his Transmetal version I might consider picking him up... maybe

I would also buy that... :D

That would be a pretty extensive retool, how would they do his skies and tread? :p

Got my TT version in the mail, fanastic figure. He's got the size, sculpt and colours plus the chainguns of doom! I really like the look of this figure and the texturised plastic is especially impressive. The shellforming transformation is interesting enough and he also shows incredible balance in alt mode :p

Love this guy, best representation of Rhinox to date even if he is just a giant rhino statue in alt mode.

How are the hips on the TT version? The Hasbro version is a bit loose.

I think the TT version is the same, I wouldn't call them floppy but they're not as tight as I would like either.

Any looseness with the knees or other joints?

balmatrix's review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1vPQM3eBx4) was quite concerning.

Knee joints and all other joints are perfectly tight

I got mine along with the rest of my pile of loot a couple of weeks ago and i couldn't be happier. Mine is a Hasbro version, and basically perfect. No looseness in the joints, and IMO doesn't need the extra paint applications - especially as they're not accurate to the original Rhinox toy. I love this figure.

I'm hoping to get my POL shipped this month, after Rattrap comes out (and minus Waspinator of course, as Hasbro are inept at making toys in sufficient quantities it seems).

I think the designers have done supremely well in reducing kibble on what could potentially have been a kibble-licious figure.

The majority of his rhinoceros rear swings down onto his legs, which serves a dual purpose. Not only does this minimise the kibble, but it also adds bulk to his legs, which is entirely necessary given the broadness of his robot shoulders. Without it, he might have looked like an AT-ST from Star Wars.

Then the butt-flap tucks neatly under the rhino neck, again, reducing any stray paneling.

I still think Hasbro have missed a trick in not displaying the toys in 'beast' mode in their packaging. They're (Waspy and Rhinox) are beasts -- It makes them incredibly unique.

A really fantastic figure.

I was thinking about that earlier and I think it's probably best that beast modes are in robot form, other wise it just looks like a rhino in a box. After all This rhinox is a pretty good rhino mode. ANd remember most average consumers aren't too savvy

He looks fantastic in both modes. The standard pose I have him in on my shelves makes him look more like a very detailed statue than an action figure. Had two different people comment on how good the statue was, only to be surprised when I told them to take it down and transform it!

Springer was brilliant, but Rhinox is the best Generations voyager (yes, even better than jetfire!)

But... he's a rhinoceros, and looks very much like a rhinoceros, so why shouldn't he appear in the box as a rhinoceros? That's his entire gimmick!

When did the vogue become putting Transformers in robot-mode in the box?

I dunno, maybe rhinos aren't as fun as trucks The other gimmick is that he's a robot that looks a lot like he does on the TV show. I was just speculating.

Transformers have only really been showing up in robot mode packages regularly since DOTM IIRC

Okay, so I ended up getting this toy, and I must say that I'm really impressed. :) It does a much better job at updating the original toy than Waspinator; whereas I don't feel that Generations Waspinator is really a better toy than the original, I do feel that Generations Rhinox is absolutely better than the original (although that's not to say that the original is a bad toy, keeping in mind that it's a cheaper Deluxe and is of 1996 vintage ;)).

And I like how the transformation "compacts" a lot of the beast mode's shell kibble so that it all doesn't hang out over the place. It makes the robot mode a lot tidier. :) The sculpting and detailing in both modes is exquisite, and the chainguns of doom is a really cool & non-invasive gimmick. My main gripe about this toy is the orientation of the Maximal insignias on the head; I would have preferred from them to be "side on" like in the cartoon rather than "front on". Oh, and he has no cutlass; just the guns. But I guess that's the trade off.

Another really neat feature -- the tail panel, which is that soft almost rubbery plastic, actually smells like a fart! A similar gimmick to Masters of the Universe's Stinkor, but replicated here as a neat homage to the Season 1 episode "Low Road"! :D

Okay, I'm lying about the bum smell, just wanted to see if anyone went ahead and sniffed their Rhinox's butt after reading that. :p
