The anagram for his name is actually clever

Smart Robin
bRainStorm

A bit miffed that he doesn't come with an optional face plate but not a deal break as it looks good and I am sure Dr Wu or another will make one.

Yer, I agree, isn't it a homage to the anime version?

I also thought that there was supposedly meant to be a faceplate gimmick too? - Seems to of been nixed at some point. :o

It is a homage to the Headmasters character model, yes.

I think that was a TFW rumor that got out of hand.

Really loving the way the cockpit gimmick is incorporated :)

I thought the face plate rumor would end up unfounded. Fansproject don't bow to fan pressure as easily as some.

In this case while a face plate would be nice, this toy clearly screams Brainstorm to me, moreso than the Toyworld one, even though it does have a nice face plate.

Anyway looking forward to it, the two previous releases may not have been the most fancy 3P toys on the market, but they were both extremely fun to transform.

I am looking forward to it too. Despite the lack of face plate (face plate would have been my preference) I do like it better than the TW one. The 'X-Wing' look didn't work for me although I don't see it as bad as I used to.

I'm with everyone else on faceplate issue. the face sculpt for brainstorm is reallllly orange and he looks reallllly unhappy..

the other issue is that when transformed, his wings fold up into his legs/feet and i prefer winged characters to have theirs wings out. he looks so grounded when posing with his guns.

the one thing i do like about toyworld's brainstorm is that the wings/thrusters can be vertical or horizontal in robot mode.

Ah! fair enough - not terribly surprising. ;):)

I'm honestly not bothered by the face-plateless face, nor the hue of orange employed here as the sculpt & mold overall is vastly superior to any other offering - Now to try and find the funds for him! :D

I feel the same way. However not sure how a future 'face plate' using the same head would work on him since the sculpt doesn't seem to be friendly to it.

Watched peaugh's video. The transformation is mind blowing...Particularly the collapsed torso and the feet becoming wings.

This Jizai guy deserves a long-term collaboration with FPJ. Seriously.

I needed peaughs video to work out the transformation. So unintuitive and different from your normal TF

With the way that they're bringing better and better not-Headmasters, I can't wait to see how not-Mindwipe and not-Skullcruncher turns out. Once they're done, I sure hope that they don't stop at 6 not-Headmasters ;)

I disagree. I got it without the instructions and thought it was quite intuitive. It's a very similar concept to Quadruple U.

Smart Robin rocks, he looks great and is so much fun to transform. While they may not have as much articulation as some third party toys out there, the designer really knows how to balance articulation with fun transformations, and due to that balance I think they have been some of the best Third party releases all year.

Now please make Skull Cruncher, Highbrow, The Horrorcons, and hey maybe even Hardhead for next year please FP.

Absolutely brilliant shots Kup!

After handling Azrael's, also showing him how to transform it WITHOUT instructions ;):p, I've got to say that I'm absolutely itching at the chance to buy my own - These figures and this line are so well executed I think I'm going to have to throw conservatism of my bank account to the wind and go (Mold) completionist here! :D

I love the engineering in this figure. Where is the cheapest place to get this?

From what I've been able to discern, Chimungmung seems to be the most favourable (http://chimungmung.com/product_info.php?products_id=1557) for those living in Australia. ;)
(It's where my own currently inbound figure is coming from :D)

I went too long without buying some TF's recently, and so on a whim last night decided to get Smart Robin .... and hey Quadruple U while i'm at it!
Hopefully get them this week; good ol' Tony @ Chimungmung with very speedy service has already shipped them!

I know they're a little smaller than perhaps would look best, but i'm hoping they look ok next to MP Hot Rod on my shelves. He's all lonely with no other Season 3+ characters!

I'm impressed that the aesthetic of these releases seems to eschew some of the over-detailing that i don't like on many 3rd party figures. They look pretty much like what i imagine a hypothetical ideal official release would look like.

Ultimately i decided to get them cause like Quakewave, i really can't see an official toy for these characters ever coming out, let alone matching their quality.

From memory there is supposed to be a voyager sized Brainstorm coming out under the Generations line this year. I'm waiting for pictures to surface before deciding, but that still won't change the fact that Smartrobin looks amazing. Very tempted.
