is this hasbro only?

It's a Hasbro marketing gimmick. Here's what TFwiki says

In addition to the mass-retail Generations toys, a second line of anniversary toys was released in the form of a "checklist" of 30 toys that were in some way exclusive - be it to a convention or certain retailers. This count of figures was drawn from a variety of toylines and franchises, including Beast Hunters, Platinum Edition, Masterpiece and Construct-Bots.

oh ok, does that mean hasbro's 30 is slightly different from Taktom's?

It seems to be a rather arbitrary list, with many duplicates that are either Hasbro exclusive or Takara exclusive, so that its practically impossible for someone in either country to collect the full set without spending some SERIOUS coin.

Can't wait to see the in packaging pics though on Windblade. I want her NOW, dammit!

Had Hasbro not used essentially the same figure SDCC & ACGC Metroplex (which I own) I would have tried to complete the thrilling 30 but to be honest I will just get the figures that interest me, like Shockwave's Lab, Windblade & the MPs

....ahh ok, I just assumed because they have the 30th anniversary logo on their boxes.

The 30th Logo (on the front of all the toys by Hasbro and TakaraTomy this year) is something completely different to Hasbro's 30th Anniversary set of 30 (which is the list of 30 "special" toys with special number labels on their packaging).

Are some of the "Platnium" movie toys part of this? They'd have to be wouldn't they?

The two pack at Myer (not that TF:Prime one), the new toy kurdt_the_goat started a thread about. (See how I'm avoiding movie toy spoilers).

MP Prowl? The rerelease of MP Grimlock?

Does anybody still care about this "30 of 30" set any more? I don't want to collect it but I'm curious to see the final list.

griffin
22nd May 2014, 03:50 PM
I've been keeping an eye out, but none of the official images have shown any, and I haven't seen any review images of the first Platinum 2-pack yet.

I expect MP Grimlock will be on the list, which has just been released in America, so I should see review photos of that one soon to see if it is.
Some of the Movie Platinums are likely to be on the list as well... and I expect the BotCon boxset on the list as well.

(I don't think people care about the 30/30 listing anymore, after the three HK figures that were the same as US items, but a lot more expensive to obtain)

The set is one no one would sensibly want to complete which is a shame.

But guess what a few hours later and three more have been identified as AOE toys (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/986095-tf4-aoe-evolution-two-packs-out-now-hong-kong.html)!

25 and 26 are Deluxe/Minicon Then and Now sets. The Leader Then and Now set is going to be 24. Photos at the link above.

Leaves a lot of empty numbers still, but I think there's at least two more Then and Now sets that are probably included!

Sounds like the time to move over to chrome :p Possibly a firefox addon was blocking some parts of the script on their pages. Explorer will always load everything, because it has no care for protection :(

Okay... looks like #14 was the First Edition Optimus, which is going to be another one people will be missing from the 30.

Someone on TFW told me that it was on the press release, but not on the box, so I did a search and found this (http://transformerslive.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/transformers-age-of-extinction-first.html)...

Fans eager to own the first official merchandise inspired by TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION can now order the TRANSFORMERS FIRST EDITION OPTIMUS PRIME action figure exclusively on Amazon.com before the broader toy line becomes available in May. The TRANSFORMERS FIRST EDITION OPTIMUS PRIME figure converts from robot to vehicle, features all new deco including metallic embellishes, rubber tires and is styled in the character’s new look as he will appear in TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. Additional features and accessories include an impressive new sword and shield. The TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION FIRST EDITION OPTIMUS PRIME figure is also the #14 item in the numbered line of “Thrilling 30” action figures celebrating the 30th anniversary of the TRANSFORMERS brand in 2014. Fans can visit http://www.amazon.com/transformershq now to view and purchase the figure while supplies last.

That's going to leave a blank spot on the collage...

Thanks to a reminder by a post by ilikesoundwave, I've updated the list, which leaves us with just 6 left unknown or unconfirmed.

These ones were out in stores in the last month somewhere, so have been confirmed (two I've seen myself)...
22 - TF4 EVOLUTIONS Bumblebee
28 - TF4 SMASH & CHANGE Silver Knight Optimus Prime
29 - PLATINUM DLX (TF3) Silver Knight Optimus & VOY (FOC) Grimlock

These ones were revealed at BotCon (which we could see the logo on the packaging in the display cabinets)...
15 - MASTERPIECE MP-05 Sunstorm
20 - TF4 AOE PLATINUM EDITION Breakout Battle (Optimus Prime, Vehicon, Rollbar)
27 - MASTERPIECE MP-04 Prowl
30 - GENERATIONS Windblade

Still missing 16, 17, 18, 19, 21 (tfwiki claims it is Generations Jetfire), and 23 (looks like it should be Evolutions Optimus).
Some of the other upcoming Platinum sets (Leaders, 5-pack Autobots) might be on the list as well. And don't be surprised if the SDCC figures this year are on there again as well, as the time-span of this list so far is 15 months.

I'd be thinking that MP-03 Grimlock is on the list since 04 and 05 are on there. Not sure why Sunstorm is so much higher on the list than Prowl... as the list was mostly ordered by release date.
Windblade is indeed just the regular release figure, which might make it the one non-exclusive item on the list.

One of the Hasbro reps at BotCon said that they should be releasing a full list of the 30 publicly, and when the full list is known, it will be interesting to see just how many people here managed to get from of this "special" Anniversary 30.

The SDCC Hasbro display had the box for Generations Jetfire, which confirmed it having "21 of 30" on the back, so I've updated the list.

Five left to confirm.

Added 19, which is Knights of Unicron SDCC set (which I had, but didn't realise until I just saw it noted elsewhere).

Also, since Evolutions Optimus is now released, it shouldn't be long to verify if it is indeed 23.

Leaves 16 & 17 still to figure out.

Unlike the other masterpieces, judging by the lack of xx/30 on his box, no, he's not.

griffin

Yep, nothing on the box, but until Hasbro releases a list, we won't know for sure if we never end up seeing 16 or 17 on any boxes (because First Edition Optimus is supposed to be 14, but doesn't have anything on its box).

As long as photos verify those two, that's the list finished then.

I finally found a photo of Evolutions Optimus (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/998442-tru-optimus-prime-evolution-2-pack-hand.html), showing the 23 of 30.

Just when you thought Hasbro couldn't stuff this concept up any more... along comes the icing on the cake.

They forgot to print number 14 on the First Edition Optimus box, so to make up for it, they've printed number 28 on the Silver Knight First Edition Optimus box... despite the Silver Knight Flip & Change Optimus already having number 28 printed on it's box (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/946492-x-30-a-9.html#post11642698).

So the Thrilling 30 has now becomes the Thrilling 31.

I updated the icon collage last night, with all the toys I currently have.
The remaining ones I have on order or are currently on the way, so will update it with all but one in a couple weeks time (and the remaining icon - Amazon's Slog - in December).

Big version can be seen here (http://www.toycollectors.com.au/transformers/2014/tf30.jpg).

All but two will be from my own collection, or photographed by me in person. One was taken from the internet (7 of 30), the other submitted by another member (5 of 30).

^ TRULY TRAGIC.

It would have been good to have a greater spread of characters. Instead Optimus makes an appearance 9 (?) times. A missed opportunity.

Knowing what we know now, which character(s) ought to be included that aren't on the list?

Hasbro at BotCon said that they would eventually release an official checklist for the 30 of 30 commemoration toys, and today they did (on Facebook) (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-generations-classics-30-35/hasbro-transformers-30th-anniversary-thrilling-30-exclusives-retrospective-gallery-181598/).

And just when you thought they couldn't screw it up any more, they go and swap out one of the items, giving us 32 official items on the list of 30.
Number 14 was on a press release at the start off the year as being the First Edition Optimus Prime, but now, it is the Walmart Stinger 3-pack.
And number 28 has been put on the boxes of two different toys, Silver Knight Smash & Change Optimus and Silver Knight First Edition Optimus. (this new list is only acknowledging the Silver Knight First Edition Optimus in the 28 spot)

Sheesh... so much potential for the concept, but so little going right for it...
Limited to just Hasbro America and Hasbro HK.
Several toys released on the list that were identical or had a negligible difference to a previous toy.
Some random items included, while other ones from a set not included.
The number order is way off from the release order.

The most disappointing thing for me with this list, apart from the repeats of molds with very little if any differences and/or significance (I'm looking at you Strafe) is the omission of molds that had a 30th anniversary connotation.

Deluxe Tankor
Deluxe Rattrap
Voyager Rhinox
Voyager Brainstorm
Deluxe Arcee
Deluxe Chromia
MP Wheeljack

and that's with a couple minutes thought while writing this post.

I will update the collage later, as I'm still missing one toy/logo.

griffin
24th January 2015, 11:46 AM
Collage updated with Slog (#18), and replacement images now that I have them (#5 & #30).
That only leaves #7 that I didn't take myself, and #28.2 (FE Optimus) to add when I eventually get it.

As far as I'm aware, #14.2 (Walmart 3-pack) doesn't have a logo, but I still don't have one yet to know for sure.

Today I received the final two that I was wanting, so now the collage of logos is complete... almost two years after the collecting began.
I needed the Silver Knight First Edition Optimus for the one logo that was missing (28), while I needed the Walmart 3-pack to verify that it didn't have the logo despite it being listed on a Hasbro press-release (as 14).

So below is the 30 of 32 of 30...

Apart from Metroplex and Jetfire, why was the main Generations Thrilling 30 line not released in Australia (ie Orion Pax Rhinox Swerve etc)

Retailers don't buy everything, unless a Brand is REALLY popular. They prioritise the lines or items that have advertising/cartoons and gimmicks... and the big fancy items like Metroplex is a selling gimmick.

Wow, interesting to see the final result of the "Thrilling Thirty" but I have no urge to own them at all.

Such a wasted opportunity.

So many limted releases and re-uses of the same toy. Two Shockwaves labs? My not-care feelings are high;)
