It's so hot the rub signs are activating on my army build junkions.

Are you guys coping? Are your little plastic friends surviving the heat?
I'm not really looking to get answers. I just wanted a place to vent, share tips on staying cool and protecting what is possibly our third most expensive investment.

Was quite hot here last week. Rubsigns all revealed, it came and went. Just really didn't move or talk while I was. Just closed the curtains to protect them from direct heat. ;)

Close the blinds during the day when we're not there and all is sweet. Thanks to K-Rudd I got in on the free insulation so my house doesn't get that hot until late afternoon. By then usually the wife or I are home and the A/C gets a crank while I usually head for a swim ;)

the heat up here is snapping all of the rubber bands in my vintage GI joes. the young fella left 1 of his cars outside for a couple of hours and it turned yellow down 1 side.

I got a wax sculpture oh my hand doing the horns from Madame Tussades in the city a number of months ago. I got home from the shops the other day and saw that it had melted to a wax pile.

Half of our airconditioning conked out at work today & you could see the sweat dripping off some of the staff, some even looked like they were going to pass out.
There's a nice breeze, so its not too bad at home right now.

We had a 40 & 43 degree day here last week. This week coming is 30, 35, 37, 37, 37

Hope it's better than last January when we had in Swan Hill 8 days straight in the 40's, then 1 day at 37, then back up to the 40's for another three days :mad::( Was barely able to keep my little farm alive!

It's going to be very warm in Vic this week, from high 30s to low 40s. I'll be driving to regional Vic to visit clients. I just hope the air con in the rental car doesn't konk out like several years ago. Having the windows down did little to help.

well I dunno what the temp outside is, but I really needed to give my plants a bit of a misting coz they're bleaching... it works well for the solar garden lights but the leaves are yellow green instead of green only. Inside though it's 31ºC inmy room, same in the collection rooms with all the blinds and blockout curtains shut, feels pretty warm. I need to invest in two more a/c units so I can put it in the 2 collection rooms. After 8 years I had enough and bought 1 but is just for my room, it may not cool to freezing but it helps lower the room temp to a nice 25º at night time and on direct afternoon heat to about as low as 27º. I'd hate to see my upcoming power bill though. :O

My trip to regional Vic got cancelled so I'm in back in my office. Only problem is, the office air con is either not working or barely running. The thermometer is showing 32C inside. I've heard nothing but whining all day. There's going to be a RIOT in the office if things don't improve.

32ºC is no aircon temp at all. When I turn off my a/c that's my rooms temp, geez.. you definitely got a busted A/C, best to put a fan in front of it, mebee some of the cool air it spurts out can at least be blown and spread around better with the aid of a fan.

We aren't allowed to bring to work electrical equipment which plugs into a power socket unless it has been 'Tested & Tagged'. It's part of OH&S rules to remove the electrical shock/fire hazards from external electrical equipment . But I reckon the company may have to compromise somewhat .... otherwise there will be a peasant's revolt.

It so distressing to see attractive women stripping down to bare minimum clothing. :o

A very important rule of working out: listen to your body. Overdoing it will only set you back in the long run.

there's a point where blind OHS rules have to give way to OHS Logic, get ye some fans and stir up the air a little. Even a hand full of small desk fans would be pretty cheap for your work and cost less than all the lost performance otherwise.

i used to do that when i was younger working for arnott's. they had a policy that if it hit 38 outside we could go home but if its 38 outside then it'd be 50+ on the inside. it's really weird up here atm. at this time of year we are sweating like pigs and sitting in ball soup but it's been really really nice here. not even sweating.

Melbourne is expecting to reach 44C today.

With A/C still not functioning in the office building, the company have come to the party by bringing in electrical fans. Supposively, the A/C will be fixed by the end of the week, by which time, the heat wave will have passed.

Nice idea, but it's getting unbearable. It's hit 33C in the building and slowly climbing. Unless the fan is directly pointed at you all the time, it's not having the desired cooling affect.

Well I feel justified in how obsessed I've been with running the drippers and sprinklers during the heatwave.

The dam was empty and I was getting it filled this morning. Due to it being empty I couldnt do my morning watering and so we took Orion to the park and then to visit his Grandmother.

Came home just before noon - my fruit tree's were all looking like they were dying, the corn was frizzling etc etc - and this is all from missing ONE water!

Fricken heatwave! 4th day in a row of 45 here - and they say it will drop down to only 39 tomorrow - oh joy.

My challenge to myself is to not lose one tree or plant to the heat this summer - it's cutting close as I have two tree's which look like they are ready to cark it at any moment

Nah, it's the clay that all houses in my suburb were built on. One of our neighbours at one point wanted to build up but they were told by council that they couldn't as the house would sink given the clay foundation. They ended up moving instead. It's all good, when winter comes back and it rains everything will sort itself out.

This kind of belongs in the vent section as well, but in the blasted heat, even with my blinds closed, the paint on the logos on my drums, mainly my left tom, have melted a little, as well as a tiny bit on the cymbals. Hasn't gone anywhere, but some of it went on the end of my sticks, so I'm hit the drums plenty of times in the past few days and there are faint black marks on the drum skin.
