Hasbro or Taka MP-10

I can't seem to find any posting about this on the forum, but if you had a choice would you go with the Hasbro or Taka MP-10.

I know the key differences are the eyes, shade of blue/purple and yellow lights at the top as well as the colour of Roller.... but what are people's preferences?

The TakTOM version is undeniably better looking, but about a hundred bucks dearer than Hasbro's at RRP. Hasbro's version isn't as nice looking, but is significantly cheaper. It also depends on whether or not you already have MP01 (or some version of it). If you don't already own any kind of MP Optimus Prime, then TakTOM MP10 might be more enticing. I personally went with Hasbro's because already owning MP01 made me skip TakTOM's MP10, but then when it came out locally at a much cheaper price, I decided to get it. It all depends on your personal preference, but for me, the $100 I saved (more including postage) was used to buy more other Transformers! ;) :D

Hasbro.
I prefer the colours over the TT version & it's cheaper.

WeAllScreamForStarscream, MP Megatron is scaled to MP01, not MP10

No. MP-01 Optimus is the same size as MP-05 Megs. MP-10 Optimus stands just up to MP-01's chest windows.

If money was no object I'd get the Takara Tomy version.
But since there's a $100-$150 difference, the Hasbro version is more than adequate.

Here's some size comparison pics between MP01 and MP10, and as others have said, MP Megatron is scaled to MP01.

there is also the platinum YOTH prime , that might get a local release later if you want to wait ...but he in gold chrome in some places , which you might / might not like .... and that going to be cheaper .... so more choices for you :p

You've pretty much got the differences there. Personally, the Hasbro colours are much better for me. Takara's just looks a bit dead, JMHO.

I'm going ahead with the Platinum Edition, it being the most widely available and cheapest option of the mould currently. Both the Takara MP-10 and Hasbro versions demand very high prices which aren't worth it IMO right now.

I went with Hasbro MP-10 since I was able to get it locally from TRU with the 20-25% discount.

I went with the Hasbro version, because I like the lighter blue used on the eyes and the extra paint application on the fog lights.

The eyes on the Hasbro MP-10 really sell it for me whereas the Takara eyes look hollow and lifeless. Not fussed about the color of Roller since I mainly keep him in the trailer.

Too right!!!! That being said I'm considering it and probably will lol. Aaahh boys and their toys. There's a reason why we're suppossingly meant to stop playing with toys after our teen years - we now have the capacity to generate $$$ but still lack self control!!!

I did think about the painting, but I don't think I want to go back to painting figures - don't have the time and reminds me of other hobby stuff that I still have to paint!! Oh the guilt!

The price difference in AU is quite odd to me. When they came out at retail in HK:

- MP-10 was HKD$1300 (AU$188)
- Hasbro version was HKD$1100 (AU$160) at TRU if I remember correctly.

I recalled the price difference was not great (and for both, we can just cash and carry here, so shipping does not factor in).

My wife loves the clear trailer and that might turn out to be the driving force behind us getting this release...

I have the takara one I got it just after the hasbro one was released here.
Absolutely stunning I have no regrets paying more than the hasbro version. Only downside is the eyes which is easily fixed with paint.

I agree I like the Hasbro version's eyes better, but everything else I'd go for the TT version.

This is one of those rare occasions where the Hasbro versions looks better than the Takara one (except for the trailer). Hasbro's eyes in particular make all the difference.

buy takara for the trailer because it is painted silver inside and roller if you like, then buy hasbro for the OP and spike, you will get a real Hastak MP-10.
Sell the remaining parts as a set. lol

the YOTH version could be a cheaper alternative too if not for the clear trailer. but you can use the trailer for MP-10B and make sleep mode convoy

For the clear trailer , you can always just customise it and paint it silver .... or I can always be able to do that for you :D and it be heaps cheaper then the MP10
