View Full Version : Do you want an Ozformer T-shirt

Paulbot

I think this will be easier than 50 people posting follow up ons the other thread (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=273&page=5).

Once 50 people or more have voted yes we can then use another poll to vote on the design and to sort out what sizes everyone are, and what state they are from.

I still think voting on design first might be a good idea but anyway... just didn't want 10 pages of posts of people just adding their name to a list :)

Yes, we can all see public polls. I'd like a shirt pending the design. For now, I've voted yes. Can we get Sofaman to donate his design? How about some extra profit margin in the shirt production to offset hosting costs?

I definitely want one! As I've mentioned before it's always great attending meets where everyone's in "uniform" - i.e.: wearing some TF related article of clothing, so the more TF clothes the merrier I say!

Bartrim
31st July 2008, 04:02 PM
Where as I think it's great to see everyone in TF gear at meetups I prefer to see everyone in different TF clothing. IMO if we all wore the same shirt it would look pretty lame. That being said I would still like an Ozformers shirt of course :D

I was thinking of doing up a customised tee with my avatar pic as a little 'corporate logo' thing. Not so large that it leaps out and smacks people in the face, but useful as a kind of name-tag thing for meetups.

And then there was maybe getting a jacket with the Australia/Autobot outlines on the back, for overseas cons. Instant way to find other Ausfans, shows up well in con photos, and prevents people trying to find me based purely on personal descriptions, which tend to lead to problems like this -

http://nodwick.humor.gamespy.com/ffn/strips/2008-07-23.jpg

(I'm, uh, somewhat generic-looking for a Transfan.)

It's easy to make it personalized, just buy those iron transfer paper and print your name and you can place it (iron it) wherever part of the shirt you like it:)

Aaw, shucks. Actually, I'd be quite happy to donate my design for this. I'm sure we can work the Ozformers logo into it. Or just have that on the back. :)

...that's a pretty darn COOL idea! Maybe not jerseys but maybe just football-style shirts (like what they wear when they play) - kind like this:
http://d.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/ng/sp/empics/20071127/17/3054565715-soccer-friendly-sydney-fc-v-la-galaxy-telstra-stadium.jpg
i.e.: short sleeve
And yeah, you could have maybe your OzFormers username printed on the back. *teehee* :D

liegeprime
1st August 2008, 12:04 AM
Im IN of course hehehe. Yes adding our username somewhere in the shirt individualizes it for each of us. of course this will be added cost as well.... sigh times like this wish that we have Phil price on shirt printing here. TF Phils shirts only costed them Php 300 each ( AU$7.50) shirt, with full on colored design and individuals username at the back of each shirt. They didn't even have 50 shirts made- it was less than 30 pieces. Aaah who am I kidding labors' cheap as there anyhows. Bring on them Ozformers Jerseys

Somehow I like the idea of it like football jerseys, makes the shirts even more appealing than it already is:D cool idea bread!

"Lousy Autobot lovers!"

:D

Is the t-shirt bright orange and red like the board background?

I would like to think that it would be an all Black shirt. Are we able to get use of an Autobot and Decepticon insignia perhaps? For the back of the shirt maybe?? Can we go to Hasbro AUS or do we have to go further??

I prefer all black shirt. "You complete me" design in front(lime green) Big Ozformers Banner at the back (orange backdrop). Although as its devastator in front, Purple backdrop looks very nice especially on black. I have been following this topic, and like the designs being posted (some are similar to the shirts I did up this year that I took to BotCon (http://www.otca.com.au/bc08/m63.jpg)). The place I got them done was limited by the shape of the image - it has to be square or rectangular. That meant that the black one had a noticable solid rectangle of black printed on the shirt with the logo and wording. One way around it was to make the rectangle part of the image, by colour or pattern, esentially 'hiding the printed rectangle in plain sight'. I also wanted to recolour the wording (it was done in B&W to hopefully get around using the trademarked TFs logo without permission) and rearrange it, but never got around to it yet since I got back.
As nice as the B&W lettering looked on the computer screen (looked metallic), it just didn't turn out too nicely on the shirts, and just looked cheap.
Mind you, a white tshirt doesn't have to worry as much about a background rectangle, because you can hardly see it printed on the white fabric. It is just necessary for a background colour/pattern for a black tshirt to 'hide' the rectangle the print shop will end up putting on there.
But this is through one of those print shop kiosks at a nearby shopping centre, so maybe an actual tshirt printer company would have a different process. Though, last time I checked (about 7 years ago) they have such a huge minimum quantity, it may be the same for any shirt print companies (due to their cheaper per-unit process).

I need a couple of hours to play with this to put together something I would prefer, that is legal, recognisable and most importantly, good enough for us to want to wear in public. I keep putting it off, because there is always something else that needs to be done first when I turn on the computer. I want to do something this weekend though, since there is so much interest at the moment.

I also want to see if Hasbro AUS will let us use the TFs logo, if we guarantee that it remains a club shirt that is for members only (not sold publically, or for profit), and the logo plays a minor role in the design.

Prices for the print shop kiosk is about $25-30 for the shirt and the printing on one side. I think it was another $10-15 for both sides to be done, making it too expensive to get both back and front done from that sort of source. And a bulk order will probably knock off a few dollars off each, if the design is the same on each (not personalised).
Some prices have already been posted here, but I might check out some other sources from my end for a more definite price range for people here to expect (when this goes ahead).

griffin
29th August 2008, 10:57 PM
For the record, as much as I like the Devastator image, and how it would make a good shirt on its own, I don't think it should be integrated with the board logo as a club shirt unless we were planning to incorporate Devastator as part of our forum logo and image in general. Personally, it reminds me too much of the Jerry Maguire movie, which is the ultimate chick flick, and feels a little too 'girly' for me *personally* to want one to wear. Others won't feel the same, and would be comfortable in wearing it, but we need to make sure this club shirt is something everyone is happy with.

Kurtd's shirt printer suggestion is worth investigating, if nothing cheaper can be found.

kurdt's idea of personalised shirts is really growing on me. Maybe we could do OzFormers jerseys/guernseys (cos I'm way too old to wear my year 12 one... which has probably been thrown out by now)!! :D We could have TF factions on the front as a small breast-insignia (like they do with school logos) and then our handles on the back! And instead of "08" or whatever on the back we could have the OzFormers matrix logo with the web address as a sub title. The OzFormers web address could appear under the breast insignia, much like how school jerseys have the school name under the school logo. The guernsey option would be very expensive though and we would have to take a lot of orders to make it worthwhile.

So perhaps kurdt's suggestion would be a cheaper alternative. :)

some good ideas Gok but i couldn't see us getting jerseys with that much detail (embroidered logos etc) for under $90-100 a piece maybe more depending on how many people order one

what is the legality of using transformer style fonts, images of characters & faction symbols on the shirts anyhow?

also if the shirts are going to be laser printed what is the minimum resolution the design has to be made at?

kurdt_the_goat
30th August 2008, 04:45 PM
I don't think I came up with the idea for personalized shirts... i just suggested a couple of colours!

Personally, I think printing on both sides/personalization is not worth the extra cost ($10 per shirt @ that site). That said, I don't see any reason why those who DO want double sided, personalized shirts can't get them on their own, using the single sided "official" design as a starting point. The main reason i don't think it's worth the extra $10 though, is because of the complexity of organizing it. If each user took it upon themselves to personalize the design, their results would vary depending on their graphical ability, and if a single user was doing all the personalized versions for everyone, it'd be a load of work!

Griffin, do you have a high-resolution version of the OzFormers logo? If so can you put it up for download? I can redraw the logo in vector format, but since it appears 3D rendered, a high resolution render would best be able to capture all the detail.

GoktimusPrime
30th August 2008, 04:46 PM
Yeah, like I said, the guernsey option would be very expensive and beyond what most folks would be willing to pay for Transformers clothes.

I think we stay like Griff's first ones.......

:)I liked the original designs and I'm quite happy with a T-shirt with a choice of colours. If we keep going on suggesting changes we will keep running around in circles and getting nowhere, I didn't mind paying the $20-$30 for one of these but I'm hesitant to pay the $100-$120 for a jersey because I said I'd buy 2.
