My latest acquisitions:

Racers Tiny Turbos:

Power Miners Titanium Command Rig and Crystal King:

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q305/Redboost77/Acquisitions/acquisitions184.jpg

My Titanium Command Rig actually came with a bonus blue monster fig (only 1 is supposed to be in the set) which was a nice little surprise. I'd like to see Hasbro gimme a freebie for once! :p

Cheers Digger. Although my pictures are blurry since I take pics at night with bulb lighting.
Only a select few sets are out built. Any that's nice to display like the Technic Towtruck and my favorite Creator sets are on display. I've got a few of my favorite lines easily accessible such as Agents, Mars Mission, Space Police and Aqua Raiders. The rest of them are in re-sealable baggies in pieces . There's simply not enough room for them all and will need to choose one line to collapse again to make room for the upcoming Agents sets.

Nice pics Fungal and nice to see the Titanium Rig look better than I expected. Still hesitant at that price though.

Hah, I got a Technic Front Loader at Myer yesterday for $90 :D We had a $20-off-for-every-$75-spent-on-toys voucher as well as a $20 gift card, total of $340 worth in toys for ~$160 after all was said and done!

Finally got one - local stores never received and after passing in Singapore I thought I would never receive. However saw it on an out of town work trip and just had to get.

Picked up courtesy of K-mart's sale:

Power Miners Cave Crusher

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q305/Redboost77/Acquisitions/acquisitions186.jpg

Racers Ferrari F1 Pit

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q305/Redboost77/Acquisitions/acquisitions185.jpg

I really like the Cave Crusher - as is typical of all Power Miners sets, the saws spin as you push the vehicle forwards. Really stoked to pick up the Ferrari set as well as I've been wanting to grab it for a while. Found it on clearance too which makes it an even better buy at only $25.50 (discount price). :D

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk269/StompBrother/LegoAgents20.jpg

So much new minifigs and some really cool vehicles. Not sure about 8968 though. The boat looks unfinished. The 4WD, robot and Gold Tooths bike looks ace and I'm sure the heli will be in the same league as the Mobile Command Center.

Saw the Agents sets in Target today and was sooooo tempted to grab them all but I'm holding off until they are on sale. But I was this close to grabbing the copter until my wife put things in perspective - "the money you save when it goes on sale can be used to grab another set." Now I know why I married her. :p

If you are talking about set 5979 Max Security Transport as the atv, I've spotted it at Kmart. $65 there but I think RRP is $70. Looks pretty expensive for what you get though.

Erm, light and sound has been in Lego sets since forever. The latest Agents Robot set has a lighted-brick arm blaster, last years Agents Turbocar had a sound brick, the early Exoforce sets had light bricks and the some of the Creator sets include lightbricks. Even Chansformer's Space Police SP-Striker has light and sound and that was released in 1989!!

yeah i saw that youd think they would add more today and maybe more technical aswell - thats what i was getting at

The good thing about Lego is that it doesn't need gimmicks to make the toy. Building the toy is the gimmick! And the times where light/sound features are used they compliment the toy rather than dominate it. So it comes down to not why they don't add light/sound but rather why should they.

Picked up the last Power Miners set I needed, Underground Mining Station:

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q305/Redboost77/Acquisitions/acquisitions189.jpg

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q305/Redboost77/Acquisitions/acquisitions190.jpg

I highly recommend this set - the towline function works a treat and the build is enjoyable. Even better if you can get it discounted (used the 20% off voucher last week at TRU).

Other sets I got round to finally building, having acquired them during the last round of sales:

Wooohoo, I got a Crane Truck! Picking it up this afternoon for $199 from K Mart :D

Has anyone got the Telescopic Handler? I'm in two minds, I'd like it but just don't know if I'll enjoy it as much as the other Technic kits I have. Four wheel steering, raise and lower loads, sounds good, but .... I just don't know! If you have this kit, let me know if you liked it!

Also it's available from Target at 20% off right now, which ends on Wednesday...

Patience is a virtue...

Picked up the Dropship/AT-OT set for $212 at Kmart thanks to clearance price of $250 and the 15% off sale. Stoked.

The only down side is that it's technically a Christmas present, so I have to wait till December to start building the bad boy.

Also noticed that a few of the other Kmarts I went to today in Hobart had pulled them off the shelves and had them sitting at the service desk...I'm guessing that someone must have realised that $212 is getting close to (or under) cost price...?

Now if I can hold out a bit longer I might even be able to pick up one of the straggler Death Star sets using the same method - anything under $400 would be good IMO. Still waiting for that to garner any kind of clearance price at all, so could be a long wait.

There's one at my local that's been gathering dust since they first showed up - literally hasn't moved an inch. The trick is, because they sold so well, it might not get picked up nationally as needing a clearance price. We'll see.

I'm willing to get it for $400 or so, but I won't be majorly upset if I miss out on it either.

So... Myer has 20% off Lego and various percentages for a month, check the catalog out! If you have a Myer One card, you get a further 10% off your purchase! (They apply that 10% after they take off the 20%, so it's not the same as 30% off, boo.)

We went to Carindale this afternoon and went a little crazy with power... :D

http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz190/daehenoc/NewLego.jpg

Those models are:
Imperial Flagship (http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=10210&cn=554)
Cargo Train (http://city.lego.com/en-gb/Products/Trains/7939.aspx)
Tractor with Log Loader (http://technic.lego.com/en-us/Products/default.aspx)
Emerald Night (http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=10194&cn=419&d=328)
A power functions and spare train track.

I think that will do us for the rest of the year and Christmas! It's good having a wife who is not only a Star Trek and a Star Wars fan, but also likes Lego trains! Woot!

Anyone know if Lego ever did a military set *planes, ships, tanks* or did just Mega Bloks do that? I am a big fan of military vehicles and have a couple, but would like to grab some more.

Lint
26th June 2010, 08:56 AM
Lego have delibrately avoided doing military themed sets to maintain a squeaky clean image but they do bend the rules a little by supplying the very sci-fi-militarised Star Wars franchise and more recently the army men from Toy Story.

Some of the chinese (arguably KO) manufacturers have designed some very good military themed sets.

I got the first of five orders from BrickLink tonight. I cannot believe how quickly I got it! It was posted TODAY from NSW with Aus Post standard post and I got it tonight here in Victoria. What the frak?

It's more impressive than that time I bought a PC case in the morning and it arrived in the arvo from Melbourne with Courier delivery!

I like.

For some reason 7949 really appeals to me (well, it's the figures). I didn't really fancy dropping $18 for 3 figures. But tonight while looking for the blind-packed minifigures, I found one which had been unceremoniously ripped open. I asked about it, and they gave it to me for 1/2 price. Turns out - once I got it home and had a good look - it was complete:

that is a tricky piece.

you need to fold the top half back over the bottom ill take a pic and see if that helps you

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/Sharkysparky/P92208092.jpg

first you need to put the bottom half on, like you would the wrestler or spartan,

then secondly you need to fold the top half back over onto itself and over the head peg..

it is a bit of a fiddle

if you want more pics let me know

Even though I scoff at the people who are aiming to collect 300 of them, the spartan has to be one of the most awesome minifigs ever created.

I can't confirm if it's over or not. Your best bet is to go and see for yourself or call up the store and get them to scan the price for you (insist on the scan as many of the staff haven't been informed of clearance prices and may simply state the price from memory or off the sticker)

Failing that, someone else might have been to Myer this week and might like to share :)

Last week (and likely still) there was 30% off on top of the $109 red ticketed price bringing it down to ~$72. If you can't catch one at Myer, Big W are selling the same set for about $74.

I've heard this additional 30%-off-already-reduced-prices at Myer also applies to the atlantis neptune carrier, atlantis hq, woody's roundup and as I mentioned earlier, the fire brigade.

If it makes you feel better jay, I have been using bricklink for the past 4 months and I can't figure out how to find these sets of 16 either. Though I am tempted to get a case. - feeling for the 6 figures I want in series 4 is annoying me this time around.

Lint
5th April 2011, 07:48 PM
I might be wrong but bricklink really isn't really built to sell 'random' lots of things because it is built around a parts database. Your best bet is to try to find a single seller who has all 16 individually in stock at a decent price+shipping. It's a pain but thats what bricklink is all about :p

Another counterpoint is anybody selling sets of 16 (from a box of 60) are going to be left with 12 loose minifigures which they are going to have to somehow sell off to turn a decent profit. It's far less risky and easier to sell a whole box and let the customer deal with the overs.

Golden Phoenix
6th April 2011, 12:02 AM
If you set up an account you can add items to your own wanted lists.
I have a collectable minifigure list. I just added each of the individual figures to the list.

You create the list. Add the sets to it. Then in the "Wanted" section you click "by shop" and it will list the shops that have the items on the list. You can tell it to sort by the number of items on the list it has.

Ok, with GP's help, I've worked out this cumbersome, behemoth of a website. With great power comes terrible usability.

Rather than making a want list of the figs by themselves, I've chosen the figs as "sets", meaning that you get the black plate they stand on, plus instructions, etc. Doing as such, the best price I can get for those from one seller is Ash's Extras (http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=ash_274) for US$56 before shipping. That's about US$3.50 before shipping. Next best was Rolling BrickStone (http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=ash_274) at US$59. I can't seem to generate shipping quotes without committing to an order. Is this another area I'm just not getting it?

For series 3, I paid A$3.55 ea. at Myer, so I'll likely just stick with retail like I did last time. I'll just buy a truckload, feel them out at home, and return the ones I don't want.

Theres a splash page or 'store rules' tab at the top of each shop's homepage. They usually contain shipping information/guides. But your official shipping quote comes by email after you've committed to an order. Be aware though, some "big business" shops will take the order submission as commitment to an order and not allow you to bail on the order just because you don't agree with the shipping. Most shops however go by the sensible rule of contract upon payment.

As you've discovered, if you're not willing to buy a whole box the choices on bricklink aren't very competitive at all.

Try ChromeBricks (http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=ChromeBricks).
They only have 15/16 of the minifigures, but they are EUR 32.87 (~AU $45.26) before shipping and based on the weight and postage info on the splash page, it would only be EUR11 (~AU15.14)extr a for postage.

Works out to be just over $4 a figure. If you can't wait for a sale at Myer it would be worth a shot. Don't know how long until we get Wave 4. At least around me, I see a lot of Wave 3 at a lot of shops.

Printed bricks. I think LEGO made a good descision not going with stickers, as this theme is aimed at kids (more so than other themes) and stickers would have became a mess all over the sets.

I'll be picking up Ultimate Build Mater/Mcqueen and a few other sets on wed/thurs. Hopefully this theme lasts more than a year.

Picked up Ultimate Build Lightning McQueen from Big W today. I was hoping they would have Mater in stock but haven't seen him anywhere. I'm guessing that set will be released later in the year.

The McQueen set is actually pretty good. I've read a lot of complaints about the price/piece ratio, but there's some nice pieces in there and a good mix of colours. The model is nice and solid, although with a few gaps, but really captures the character. Can't wait for Ultimate Build Mater now, and i hope they make a Doc, Sheriff, Fillmore and Flo.

I give the set 8.5/10.

It's like one of those stories you see on TV: man goes into kmart looking for generations, fails but happens upon a giant lego head he was hunting half a year ago.

Man I've wanted one of them for a while.
Just to display, but I am curious so see how well it works.

It works about as well as it looks. I honestly would have preferred an empty tub to just store bricks en masse.
When stored in a container, bulk lego sorts itself out by size naturally.

Man i remember seeing heaps of those at my local Kmart relatively recently.

They were first sighted at Big W just before Xmas and then at Kmarts not long after but they were very sought after and numbers seemed to have been limited. Perhaps they're bringing them out of cold storage recently? The shelf was pricetagged but the space allocated could have fit 2 of these at the most

I'm having fun deciding what set to pull the trigger on next. Looks more and more likely that it will be an imported one what with local prices and all...

Is that out yet? Cause I vaguely remember seeing something on the LEGO news letter that it was coming to Myer in July or something. Or I might have mixed it up.

Did you ask the gal to check out the back for you though?

The light house I got was also out of stock on the shelves and the nice sales gal went to the back of the store to get one out for me.

Yes, I saw a few before the sale, and the lady said she put out three that morning.

I did to no avail. Will keep trying though. Ta.

Jay, is this the one you're looking for?

If yes, I'll keep a lookout for it when I go to Myer again tonight. But probably have to get STL or someone to get it for you first?

I put one on layby at myer today. They had about 4 others, I'm sure you have found one, if not text or pm for location. They also had a few imperial flagships if anyone missed them.

Who had Imperial Flagships? Myer? The Big one?

Sorry. I know what you mean now. Initially I misread it as Imperial Shuttle.
