Wow, we are paying through the nose here in New Zealand
$200 for the truck over here!!
$120
$70
$50
$40
$20

Australia is roughly 20% cheaper after the exchange rate and that is before any sales. Grumble, grumble :)

Holy starscreams that's expensive. Will be cheaper for you to fly here and pick them up during a sale.

Yep, certainly made me pause on getting locally.
Have to be a minimum of 25% off to get locally and that does not happen often with Lego

Got the Lego movie Spaceship for fathers day. Does anyone know what the numbers on the license plate behind the cockpit mean. ?

It's a 'cheat code' for the lego movie playstation/x box game. I can't remember what it unlocks, but it's specifically for the game.

Wow, this thread is full of epic barrels of awesome!! I'm pretty envious:o

I don't collect lego for the simple reason that once I started I probably wouldn't be able to stop, I have enough space issues just collecting Transformers, and I already have to budget out some things so I can afford others.

having said that, I bought Benny's Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!! in the big W sale this week, and I'm going to try to talk my wife into building it with me, then we'll look at it for a few days before dismantling it and putting it away so we can have our coffee table back.

There is something about this set and the way it represents more than half of the lego I had (and still have in a bucket at my parents house) when I was a youngster.

Hopefully not, it's made even harder in that I have 3 friends who are all independently into collecting lego. two of them, their wife blames me for it, even though I warned them both before they started, and proceeded to tell them that if they call me at 2am on a lego fuelled eBay bender I will only tell them yes. :D. something to do with being a bad influence:confused:;)
the third friend has been collecting since before we met at uni and she's got so much that she's had a dedicated lego room for years, her husband can't blame me because it started before we met.

for the moment, I live vicariously through them.

^ I honestly can't remember. They came from about 4 or 5 different sellers... I'm drawing a complete blank... Sorry Mate.

When shopping on Bricklink, you need to pay attention to a couple of different things such as a seller's minimum order amount, whether they're willing to ship to Australia & their postage costs. Then before you've even realised it, you've just bought 41 pieces from a seller in Austria... Please don't judge me... :o:D

Honestly it was good build, few oh cool moments, but I much prefer the restaurant, and yeah there's xetail in every room and even a basement. The guy painting the wall is a bit meh, but still cool how they did some things like bay window (though gappy), and the toilet.

Only have the restaurant and pet shop at the moment, i'd have to make room to put more, and if i did it'd be bricklinking cafe corner (with custom colour walls for bottom floor and awning) and an actual interior (inspired by cafe/bike shop) and the green grocer. But then I'd want the detectives office or something and something else for the corner on the other end so ... $$$ sigh, just not a fan of the cinema or emporium due to lack of detail in the latter, and well, 6 seat cinema...

It took me 11 hours straight to build. I love it. With staff discount $450 it was def worth it.

Towards the back it has what electric packs you need and also full instructions how to install.

It's my first really big Lego build so I can't really judge if it's worth it but like KP I got it for $450 so I feel good about that price as opposed to the $500 Lego.com wants for it. The build feels a little repetitive building the 4 turbines. Also I know some people in their Youtube video reviews said the Technic pieces are an issue to get everything working but I had no problem getting them moving freely and working right and I'm a novice.

The Blue Power Jet is a nice looking set. The colour scheme is very 'USA'. At $68 sale price (from $89.95 RRP) it's a pretty good deal. How much was 31037 Adventure Vehicles on sale for at Big W?

Thanks for the heads-up. The jet was in last week's catalogue for $68 (??!!). At $55 it's almost 40% off RRP, almost a 'Drop Zone' price. Big W did the same thing with the Technic Street Bike (42036) from $38 to $35. That's about 30% off RRP (not quote Drop Zone though).

I kinda missed the release date - now sold out everywhere I can think of and eBay prices are insane. I was told that they were a limited release and no more sets are going to be made (which is stupid considering the demand), so it looks like I've missed out on Wall*E. You might get lucky, as I know a whole bunch of stores (TRU au included) that did not get stock or were told to hold off on putting it out due to the floppy neck issue. I was lucky to nab mine from shopforme and I'm happy to deal with the neck issue later once a good fix (official or otherwise) has been found.

So keep looking at lego shop and stores as there will be another batch in the near future.

Managed to pick up a Lego Ideas Wall-E and the Big Bang Theory set from an online retailer called Just Bricks. The prices were a tad high but shipping was very cheap and it was shipped very quickly and securely.

Wall-E is a very solid set, a great size and looks beautiful but without too many bells and whistles. The Big Bang set was underwhelming, pretty uninspired. The minifigs are not particularly good likenesses of the characters and the room is a bit too small to include very many cool Easter eggs for lovers of the show. And no Lego Lego Death Star, which is quite frankly a missed opportunity.

So after not buying/getting a lego set for probably 15~ years...

I just Picked up 9 Star Wars Lego sets and sat on the floor for 25 hours casually building them while watching TV. (Over 3 nights). I picked myself up all 7 new sets from the Force Awakens, and 75038 and 75040 I think it was. I spent like $800~ in Kmart at once for them though :D (I'll post a pic later, I just cleared off one of my desks for these guys).

Downside is now I'm craving more, anyone know of any reliable places to get the 2014-2015 Star Wars sets for a better price than retail? I been looking around but it doesn't even seem overseas is that much better price wise.

Lego: plastic crack. Once you start, there is no stop. :D

Try shopforme they are based in Melbourne and usually are 20% cheaper than retail (about the same prices as Big W or Kmart sale prices) and get stock in earlier than brick and mortar stores.

You usually have to be fairly quick for the more popular sets as once their stock gets low the prices do increase.

Ever since lego banned amazon and Barnes and noble etc from shipping overseas it's getting more expensive. If you aren't massively into the mini figures but want just the sets it does make it easier on eBay and bricklink as there are a massive amount of sellers who pull out the minifigs and on sell the actual construction part.

I managed to find UCS AT-ST set 10174 at a pretty reasonable price in Hong Kong recently, I finally finished it on the weekend. It is a very technical set and probably one of the hardest sets I've ever built.
It looks fantastic but lacks any interior for pilots. I plan to make a custom interior and find some mini-figures for it. This was a second hand Lego so was missing a few pieces which were easily found in my own Lego, the one thing I am fairly annoyed about is the specs sticker and pieces for the plate stand are missing :(

So happy right now :p - I'll have to head in at 8am before work to snag one heh. Do you guys think if I showed all my receipts from the past 2 - 3 weeks, with the stupid amount of money I've spent on their lego. They would give me one. Or should I just buy more haha.

some series 15 minifigures

Spaceman
Queen
Animal catcher with Skunk
x2 Shark Guys

not my plan to have 2 shark guys but they are apparently abundant in the series. Was trying hard to find the Farmer. With the spaceman I thought it was the Satyr, but the flute turned out to be a flag pole. Was a welcome surprise! I swapped the bearded head with one of the shark guys so the spaceman looks younger, makes him look more classic.

Not finding it until the end does make you panic.

When I built the Justice League Darkseid Invasion set, it was missing 1 piece from one of the wings (an angled plate piece (http://brickset.com/parts/4179875)). Had me worried I had used it somewhere I wasn't supposed to.
Found I had an extra mirrored version of the piece which explained how it got passed the weight checks.

I better wind back the Lego collecting :o

I couldn't contain myself with that sitting around. Regardless what is happening in life. I would skip a nights sleep to have some fun time to myself :D:D I think the longest I've gone is about 24 hours without being able to rip into something next to me :D

Ordered the Ghostbusters Firehouse. Won't get it until December (birthday present) but I cashed in my points to bring it down to $470 and then the double points will take another $52.50 off the 60s Batcave when I order that.

Nice! Was gonna order it the other day but chickened out and bought some Jurassic World Lego instead. I currently have $60 worth of VIPs and that will go towards Batcave or GB Firehouse some day.

Someone on the Lego Facebook group built that Optimus. Doesn't look too bad. It's a good magazine too. Have all the issues.:)

I buy all these books/DVDs with the minifigs in them and this is a rare occasion where I actually prefer the book over the minifig. I dont get 'Pirate Batman'

I know right? The vast majority of Lego books I've seen in stores have had their mini-figs missing. Are these mini-figs really that valuable or do the grubs who nick them just want something to take home & don't wanna pay $30 for it?

Thanks Guys! There's about 15-20 Bricklink hauls that have gone into that... :o

My next MOC will be a castle - but that might be a while off (I'm waiting on 5 Bricklink orders to arrive & that castle is gonna need a hell of a lot of bricks...)

Ooh, I like castles! Looking forward to seeing it one day:) I keep meaning to build my own Lego castle one day. I have no creativity atm and kinda losing interest in Lego as a hobby. Currently experiencing a 'Dark Age' if you like.

When I need inspiration, I check out the MOCs on Brothers Brick & Eurobricks - the builds on there are incredible.

'Dark Ages' Lol! I'm still wrapping my head around all the lingo regarding AFOL Lol! When I think of the 'dark age' of Lego, I think of the time that Lego nearly went broke - not us guys losing inspiration to build things

After I build my castle (it could take me a while but I'll eventually finish it), next in line will be a Wild West scene (something based on Clint Eastwood's Westerns) followed by something based on Classic Space - I've been a massive Classic Space fan from way back when! :D

Great work! :)

Now I've been meaning to ask if the 2 minifigs on the path are supposed to be regular people because as they are "faceless", they are a hell lot more terrifying than anything else in there!

They do seem pretty armless though... ;) :o

The reason why I decided to use my pre-minifigs was because I didn't want to make them the focus of my little diorama. I didn't want them to become the centre of attention - I wanted the background to tell the story, to set the mood rather than the focus to be on the mini-figs.

It's funny, White Mocha on TFW put more thought into my mini-fig selection than I did - he suggested that my faceless mini-figs could be ghosts as well - to fit in with my eerie/ghostly theme. Until he mentioned that, I'd never even thought of my mini-fig selections in that way...

Tell you what, I think I'm well & truly addicted to Bricklink - I've got 6 orders on the way... :D :o

He's actually a custom I found from a seller in Hong Kong on ebay. He's got a golden face (with no printing) to go with his chrome body & oxygen tanks - He makes a great addition to the family!!! :D

That's exactly why I ordered it.

Seriously, worse comes to worse, you'll be able to get retail price locally if you decide you don't want it, and a little over if you want to flip Freeze.

That said, I can't see myself ever selling this one. Looking forward to it so much!
