However this one store at Ins Point did seem to be a good 20% cheaper than retail

Such a shame that the mid year releases are not available in stores here until August / September so we could get sale prices on those sets.

Wife got me the Detective's Office last Thursday (23rd), got myself the Brick Bank on Thursday (30th) when they had the F&F 20% off. Gotta wait til we move to build the bank, and til my b'day to build the office. Still not that sold on either of them but the wife likes them and they're cheaper than hunting down an old set (still in the process of a spreadsheet for the corner cafe to bricklink it myself, possibly with changed colours, and definitely with an interior, then I might think about the green grocer to make a complete block and leave it at that).

Being a massive fan of Lego Skeletons, I wanted to have them launching a sneak attack from behind (while Robin Hood & his partner in crime make off with the loot undetected...)

One thing I'll definitely learn from this is to plan how you're going to structure your base plates before you commence building - trying to plan the inner flooring after my Fort was completed was a pain in the ass...

I've finally completed my next build - my Wild West MOC! :) Being a massive fan of Clint Eastwood's westerns, his movies really inspired me to create my own outlaw shootout. I wanted it to be centred around my saloon, along with a variety of rockery, Indians hiding out of sight & a whole bunch of other fitting bits & pieces (I just had to have a crazy Mexican attacking someone with a machete... Lol)

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - Just wait 'til you see what I'm working on next...

There are FB Lego groups circling you like vultures as we speak! :D

SW Lego should have quite a good resale as a bulk lot though. The FB groups could be a good one but perhaps an auction on eBay can get the best value. Seen quite a number of these SW auctions fetch a good price.

Only issue is everything is opened and built. I have all the boxes, never used any stickers. They're all on the sheets still. I have about $4,000 I've purchased this year? I'm happy to lose some on it, due to being second hand. But I would love to be able to just offload it all :D

Picked up a Frodo keyring for my gf and a Bossk keyring for myself from the Lego Educational Centre at Docklands - she decided on a whim that we should visit Melbourne again last weekend.

Didn't think I would get this much fun out of Bossk, but every time I look at his ugly lizard face it makes me laugh a bit inside.

Emporium was not finished the last time we were there, so I was very impressed with the size of Myer's toy section.

I'm after the Penguin kid and the Wildlife Photographer for my gf. Picked out the Spooky Boy by mistake, but he looks great with the Spooky Girl.

Penguin kid was one of the more difficult to feel the bags for. My method was to feel for the headpiece first then confirm by feeling for the short legs. There are only 2 minifigures in the series with short legs. The other is the kid devil and you can rule that out quickly because it's a bulky bag with wings, tail, headpiece, pumpkin and trident.

Good advice. I was going through a box that was 90% full and could not find short legs without wings/trident. I thought I had the Boxer Girl (also trying for my gf).

Thoughts when you make them please as I am very much on the fence when it comes to getting. More ships as I am quickly running out of space.

Looks like they learnt their lesson from force awakens and have the ships more closely resembling the ones in the trailers, Kenneth's command ship is a big improvement over Kylie rens.

Looks like they learnt their lesson from force awakens and have the ships more closely resembling the ones in the trailers, Kenneth's command ship is a big improvement over Kylie rens.

I had a lot of fun building both of these up as both ended up being very sturdy. Can't comment on how universe-realistic they are to the movie, as I'm trying hard to avoid the media releases and not to spoil myself - however I accidentally clicked on a character from Krennic's Shuttle set and skim read too quickly into it (why the hell didn't this work for me during uni? :p).

75154 Tie Striker

I really enjoyed the build process, and did not expect the cockpit capsule to come together with the wings as sturdy as the photos suggests (mainly because I watched this misleading MOC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5ISYuHE-Dc) the week before). The only other Tie I own is the 75101 First Order Tie Fighter (however I've watched video reviews of most of the older iterations) and the Striker beats them all. The wings are connected via Technic pins and beams, and can be adjusted from the back to be raised into their attack mode as pictured on the box. There are no balance issues with either modes.

If there are any parts that might come off, I can only think of a) a single plate on the back of the capsule where one plate is connected by a single pin; and b) the spring-loaded missile launches which aren't as well integrated as 75101.

The wingspan is incredibly impressive - the box art really does not do it enough justice. This thing is almost as long as 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer. I've been a growing fan of this type of wing placement since getting back into Lego this year and going through reviews of many fighter designs since 2009. The 9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor was big on my want list until getting the Striker (esp when considering 9500 has stability issues).

I'm always looking forward to more Imperial troops, and printing on all 4 minifigs are very high quality. One QC packing issue with my set - I didn't get a the generic smiling 2-sided head for the Rebel soldier, and instead got another angry-Clone face.

I found on Gumtree the 75154, 5 and 6, all for $190 for the lot, which is fantastic news, as they'll become part of my collection.

I am on the hunt for the 75153 and other than the 75120 I'm not too fussed on the rest.

I read yesterday in the sighting section that the Y-Wings were available in Big W, so I decided today to head down and have a quick look in my local store. And indeed they were, I think they are being sold for $95 but to my surprise, I saw a LEGO 75049 Star Wars Snowspeeder still for sale and in relatively good condition, apart from the odd bit of shelfware. I got to the checkout and scanned the item and it cost me a whole $10, which considering the item has been retired for a while now, I thought that was an absolute bargain. :)

My Japan haul!

Very surprised with these, as I was a bit naive and assumed that Lego in Japan would be costlier than here. Whilst most general retail releases were very similar in price (minor discounts that did not make up for the cost of luggage space), I was very happy to find these retired/hard-to-find sets in Akihabara, and various Yodabashi Cameras & Bic Cameras in Tokyo.

I was also able to visit the Tokyo Station ClickBrick store and KiddyLand in Harajuku. The stores were very well stocked with the latest stuff and the 2017 sets, but nothing rare. Tokyo ClickBrick did have pretty cheap keychains for about $9ea.

I decided to hold off on the 2017 sets, as price-wise they would have only been similar to BigW with their 20% discount.

Got back just before the new year, and we've already built them all - bought the Creator Dog/Duck set for my girlfriend to appease her wrath, and gave her the Year of the Rooster freebie from Yodobashi. She's got a weakness for ducks, so we turned 31044 into this MOC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASNBAvxfKmQ :p

I'll probably motorise Wall-E at some stage this year when I get around to it. Also get him some of these so he can travel move easily on tiles: http://www.bricklink.com/myImg/153154.jpg

Bought a program since the pictures were better than any I took (didn't even think to bring the macro lens) as well as the Venice architecture set I've been eyeing off and an awesome duplo story set I've never seen before where you build models of the characters as you read!

Sadly the box had been picked through but I managed a Red Hood, Orca and Zodiac. I want all of the figures but Zodiac was one of my least wanted!
Hopefully I can find more figures available soon, it's going to be as tough as finding and getting the Disney minifigures I think!

Ok so I actually "acquired" this when it was released in 2002 but never put it together until now. I had a couple of failed starts and it languished in various rooms and the garage. I pulled it out last week to get it done. I broke it down, cleaned it up and finally completed it. Now I love it! Just has nowhere to go at the moment....

Gee, my Lego acquisition doesn't feel that special now :) I got a Technic Bucket Wheel the other day found one on Gumtree for $220 sealed and the box was pretty tidy too. The thing is absolutely enormous and the weight surprised me as well. Not sure if I will build it but may trade it for a Technic Porsche if the stars align (probably won't happen) or sell in the future and toss the money in a jam jar until I can afford one (Technic Porsche).

8093 Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter
9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor
75150 Vader's TIE Advanced vs A-Wing
75172 Y-Wing

And also picked out Clan of the Cave Batman, Vacation Batman and Catman whilst shopping with girlfriend.

What a fantastic set! If any of you are even remotely interested in space travel or are just looking for a nice display piece to put in your living room, don't hesitate.

Even though it had 1969 pieces, the build was quick & intuitive and most importantly the finished product looks incredible.

After getting the Apollo rocket at S@H, I managed to nab a BB8 and Ren's Tie Fighter from Shopforme this morning.

Still tossing up on some of the other sets, I think Lego have done themselves a major disservice by not releasing any cheaper or smaller sets for the movie, when the cheapest set is about $70 for about 400 bricks, (TrU RRP) its just nasty.

Maybe if Myer's 20% off prices include the Walker and Star Destroyer they might be worth it, $180 is far more palatable than $220+

Only meant that you never know what Myer does and does not include, their site says one thing, signs another, staff a third option. I know I've gotten creator sets on sale when they said they were excluded!

Picked up BB-8 today at MYER TTP. With 20% off came to $127 which IMO is quite a good price. Still tempted tempted to pick up another while on sale.

They had about another 5 or so in stock with plenty of other big Star Wars sets like AT Walker, Star Destroyer & Advent Calendar. Apparently Saturn V will be back sometime this month too.

It’s a fantastic build, the price was good not great when I got it at shopforme on sale. It does look spectacular when finished. It ends up longer and taller than the box shows and all the play features are well hidden and integrated into the actual design. It’s possibly my favourite LEGO Batman movie set, the batmobile is the only other set that may come close.

Dammit, had no idea they were the same every box. I found two mostly intouched boxes in small local woolies and still somehow ended up with two red brick kids, two flower kids and four dragons... lucky the dragons have made excellent Little gifts for St George fans I know.. also managed to get a car guy.

This series fees looser and less quality than I like from my LEGO. It’s a shame that the minifigs look so good but hold together so poorly compared to the minifigs from the main sets.

The transporter minifigs were nothing special unless you love Phasma with no face.. but the transporter and Resistance bombers are by far my two favourite Lego Star Wars sets from the past couple of movies. It's a spectacular price for an awesome build and brilliant toy.

I'm still putting off buying any new wave SW sets, the prices are just ridiculous, I may have to go the figure-less way on bricklink for everything except the throne room.

I still need a Phasma to complete my First Order leadership team. Might resort to buying her separately. I was pleasantly surprised by the transporter's construction despite the simplistic D-Day landing craft design from the outside.

Happy to wait until the throne room pops up somewhere for cheap. It's only a matter of time. Just started collecting Lego Speed Champions. Got a bulk set with a bit of missing pieces from the big sets like the Ferrari Truck, Ferrari Ultimate Garage and the McLaren Petronas F1 but the small sets looks complete. Just finished getting the current stuff locally thanks to the BigW toysale atm.

Not my acquisition but LEGO just bought Bricklink. Will be interesting to see what plans they have.

^ It looks like a lot of people online aren't very happy about today's news. Now I don't know if it's just "the usual online whining & complaining" or if the AFOL's genuinely think this will eventually lead to TLG shutting down Bricklink or just forcing people to go & buy from their "bricks & pieces" store.

Who knows what Lego's plans are? Was this just a strategic acquisition at the right price?. I'm just gonna wait & see what happens in the future. I might have to have a look at Brickowl (https://www.brickowl.com/) instead...

We should all enjoy it while it lasts. Shame, because it's a useful site for parts.

Just picked up the January(ish) bunch of Rise of Skywalker sets - I won't do a photo, I've got the minifigs in arrangements that are a bit spoilery.

I've actually got extra room on the shelf for once. The whole sequel trilogy area got heavily optimised months ago to make room for Ep9, then it turned out the new (black) shuttle just took the place of the old one, and I decided not to get the Falcon (I did a bunch of mods on the Ep7 one, I think it looks just as good), so even now everything's in place it's looking a bit sparse. At least, compared to all the other areas where everyone's crammed in like sardines.

After giving up on the fishing shack in Brisbane (funny I saw it so much but only decided to bite the bullet when the treehouse started showing up everywhere), I found one in Wagga Myer and grabbed it. Wasn't on the website so was a nice surprise when it scanned at $199.

Edit: also picked up the new ice cream van.

Built the modular bookshop on New Year's Day. Unfortunately that's as far as my 'get a new modular building every day' resolution made it. (I don't like the American look of the diner and garage anyway.)

My son got the Audi and will be getting the Speed Champions Lamborghini double pack next week. I like the new 8 stud Speed Champions.

Spend $40 at eb games on Star Wars LEGO and get a bonus micro Poes xwing polybag.

I?m a sucker for poly bags and it annoys me that we barely get any here and they can be stupid expensive to get. I?m tempted to pay a few $$$ more for some microfighters and battle packs just to get the polybag. The last xwing came with a kzone magazine.

This one? http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/ZiNG_Offers_Poe_Damerons_Xwing_Polybag_186146.asp

The earlier Poe XWing polybag that comes up most in search results looked a bit better.

A small haul from Anime at Abbotsford: the bantha/skyhopper two-pack, the Mandalorian battle pack, Luke's landspeeder, and Obi-Wan's hermit hut. Also a handful of the DC minifigures - literally a handful, I can't be bothered trying to work out which one's which, so I just grabbed a bunch. Got lucky, nine minifigs, no duplicates. I'll finish the set some other time (more carefully).

Picked up the new skylines from Abbotsford - Dubai and Tokyo. Dutifully added the lizard guy minifig to Tokyo.

I've not been to AAA in yonks. Brad still running the joint ?
Also picked up Ben's shack.

Miss Kitty Fantastico
20th January 2020, 02:33 AM
Yep, Brad's there most days - I have a friend who lives nearby and the bus stop outside Anime's the closest, so I pop in while I'm waiting quite often. Which usually ends up with me impulse buying some Lego set or other, until there's literally nothing left in the current selection I'm even slightly interested in.

Got a few more of the DC minifigs - a lot of them have internal bags making it difficult to tell which is which and I generally can't be bothered anyway, so I just did another random handful. 5 new out of 11, which brings the total to 6 duplicates out of 20 so far. Getting those last two is going to be a pain (it's Sinestro and Metamorpho I'm still after), but I don't at all mind having extras of the new flying stands, so it's not a total waste.

Well, I did finally get Sinestro and Metamorpho, although I went through a lot of duplicates to find them. Never mind.

Today though, picked up the Captain Marvel/'Vers' and Nick Fury polybag from the Lego Broadway shop. Nice to have actual Lego shops around, I'd gotten used to polybags just not showing up anywhere, aside from maybe a couple of Ninjago or City ones at supermarkets a couple of years out of date.

Picked up the Widowcopter from Target Leichhardt. Are they exclusive to Target? I asked Brad at Anime and he said they hadn't been offered them.

As it turned out two sticker sheets had static-clung together, so I've got an extra set left over.

I dont post in this thread very often (if ever?).
Picked up the Episode 9 Resistance Y-Wing (75249).
You wouldnt believe how many times I picked this up in the shops over the Xmas holidays. And ever since have kinda regretted never getting it.
So when I stumbled upon Zing selling it, plus having it available for click&collect at my local store, I couldnt pass it up.

Also recently finished my Voltron that I got at Xmas time. Thing is so damn big, I'm not sure where I'm going to display it.

Since we weren?t going out anywhere I decided to bite the bullet and order the pirates of barracuda bay set. Since the LEGO shop site is anti-purchase (as in LEGO hates Australia) I ordered directly from the discovery centre in Melbourne and got a few poly bags and shop exclusives to go with it, including the little yellow postage plane, captain marvel and frozen polybags, a weird friends baseplate set for my daughter and a mandalorian battle pack because I have never seen one in the flesh.
Now to Find time to build and space to display!

I didn't realise it was a recent release. My two have being heavy into Lego recently with the being stuck at home and all, I have been buying individual pieces to replace worn and discoloured ones from my original sets. I may have to purchase this. Is Lego discovery centre the best way to buy it?

Picked up a few of the minifigures from series 20. Some interesting new parts in this series including the turtle, nunchaku and drone. The series has been running for 10 years now - time flies.

The LEGO minifigure as we know it has now been around for 42 years. Sadly its creator, Jens Nygaard Knudsen, passed away in early 2020.

Well that was lucky, i just jumped on gumtree and found one for retail from a person who bought two and just wanted their money back on one. Half an hour each way to pick it up and i now have fulfilled one childhood dream, owning a Lego pirate ship. Now i just need a knights castle......

Got a Darth Vader buildable figure (75111) from Bricklink.
Kinda glorified bionicle, I can see why this line wasnt that popular.
But I'm a tragic Vader fan, so I really dig him. Bigger than I thought, poses great, and has good shelf presence.
My first time using Bricklink and was pretty happy with that experience too.

How's bricklink?

I?ve done about 30 BrickLink orders and never had an issue. Bought mostly locally plus a few British ones since postage from the UK to us is fairly quick. The trick is to be patient, shop around a bit first so you have a fair indication of what prices things roughly go for because that little $5-$10 purchase from one store can get much higher very quickly. I?ve been nearly caught out a few times buying bricks for much higher in one shop purely because I was already ordering stuff from them. It?s very easy to just start a new shopping cart in the cheaper store too.

Got really into lego this year buying a whole stack of minifigures primarily Marvel/DC and Star Wars. What was really awesome was that my fianc? was also bitten by the bug and she encouraged me to go with it. To that end she wanted at least one major build to display but she didn?t want either the Helicarrier or the Ghostbusters firehouse, hehehehe. What she doesn?t know is that for her birthday she?s going to be getting the Disney Castle 😁😁😁 I know she?s going to flip as she?s always wanted to go to but obviously atm it?s not a possibility. Can?t wait to see her reaction 😊
