http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190715859402?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Is this what these go for now ??. I wouldn't have minded buying one but for not for this price.

Even though this is on gumtree and not ebay. I thought it would be related to my other post. Probably come under the "interesting" criteria. ;)

griffin
30th January 2014, 10:58 AM
24??? That lot's only worth about 10k if broken up on ebay... and less as a bulk lot.

There's 6 BotCon sets, that may average out to $1,000 each IF sold separately (less if as a set of 6). Six MP figures that would come to about $1,200-1,500. Gen1 Omega could get $500 IF it is the original inside and Mint condition. And the Book Reissues could get about $1000 IF they are Sealed. The rest are mostly reissues and recent mainline items, so could get fetch $1000 for the rest.

Yep, that actually made me came back to Transformers more than what RID did.

the 1/24 scale just made it in line with a lot of car collectors. The paint job on smokescreen was too good. Okay granted Alternators were plastic but some were also quite well done. My MP-1 and Megatron stands within the Binaltech display.

But as it is I have started collecting the current mp cars, they are good enough, and I do hope they hold their standards.

Not when everything in those pictures was released locally (except maybe the Vector Prime recolour not 100% sure on that).

A room full of BotCon toys, Takara Masterpieces and Lucky Draw prizes might add up to more than $10K, but not general release Hasbro toys from the last 10 years.

How much was the price on that MP SW? Just revisiting the link now and it was apparently sold.

Really surprised to find that people always seem to expect higher prices on Gumtree. You've got a free-to-sell medium, that you would usually expect to attract less buyers willing to pay a premium price for goods (amongst other things on the website). However, TF sellers keep expecting an arm and a leg for their wares. I guess we can surmise that there are a lot of less-frequently updated buyers are not aware of the market value of TFs.

Talk about over-inflating the value of a product to make it sound like you are getting a bargain. It's like Toyworld's price-tags saying "don't pay this... our price is..." but were never at that higher price to start with. :p

They claim that they spent $10,000 on the collection, making $4,000 sound like a huge discount.
However....

There looks to be about 60 toys in those photos, and all appear to be ones available at retail here, so it wouldn't add up to $10,000. (the Titanium Menasor might be an exception, but I think people found it in Victoria)
That would mean each of the 60 toys cost about $166 to buy... but I can't see single one there that retailed for that.
And since they are out of packaging, the value of loose easy-to-find mainline figures is less than a quarter of its retail price or its current mint-sealed value.
(if you bought deluxe BH Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Soundwave and Skystalker for $100, you'd have trouble selling them for $20 out of packaging)

So even if there was $10,000 spent on any collection of mainline figures, having them out of packaging would probably bring it down to less than $3,000.

Totally agree, I barely see $1000 of value in that lot.

It was listed about a month ago, I think it will be on there for a very long time

It was just the audacity of the comment and how 'firm' he is on the sale price of the figure. I would have thought that a person selling a G1 prime must realise it is likely that a collector as opposed to a non-collector is going to buy it and he would have to hope that collector is a fool who has no knowledge of the product nor capable of any form of internet research.

If something looks a bit suss, www.highendtfs.com is the best place to find info about vintage vs KO. :) Most of the G1 KO's have fairly easy "tells," it just takes a bit of practice to recognize them:)

It's an online warehouse place. No other toys aside from a lot of POP figurines. Video games, shoes, electronic items, vaccum cleaners, hand bags etc. It basically looked like a market stall. I should have asked if there were any other transformers, crap. I don't think the seller was the original owner, I'm going to hazard a guess it was part of a bulk lot of items. The boxed has been knocked around a few times but aside from that, everything is perfect :D
