Favorite Scramble City Combiner Team

I was looking at CollectionDX reviews and noticed that there are a lot of combiners out there in the transforming robot category. But I think for many if not most of us a love of combiners probably started with a Scramble City team from G1. So I'm wondering out of the 7 interchangeable Scramble City Combiner teams which one is most liked.

6. Aerialbots
7. Combaticons

And the last is partly because they are too overused and common. But even as a kid they were the last ones I wanted. In fact I never got any of them (despite having at least two members of every other team) until the RID release.

I think the Stunticons look nice with their colour diversity. Bruticus is also pretty cool like that too. :)

Defensor has always been my favourite of the Scramble Gestalts. All great toys with distinct forms/designs and I really like the rescue theme. ;) As a kid, Menasor was my next favourite (just loved the idea of Decepticon cars to rival the Autobots), but as an adult I find that my taste has shifted towards Bruticus. The Combaticons also have a good variety of distinct forms, and when I think about it, military vehicles > sports cars anyway. :p

But it took me quite a few years to complete any of the sets, because I would collect a bit of each and end up building hybrid gestalts -- e.g. mix of Protectobots & Technobots, or a combination of Stunticons and Combaticons :o :D

Protectobots. Hotspot has an easy, solid transformation and great body proportions with little kibble.

Protectobots all the way. I remember when I was a kid saving my pocket money and hunting around for weeks until I had each member. It is now the only G1 I own having bought them again as an adult.

I can't say which would be my favorite. I am partial to Defensor and Abominous but also Menasor.

Combaticons, for the variety of Earth modes, for better value play.
Protectobots, for being shafted in the comic and cartoon (probably because they didn't have military alt-modes to make them too involved in plot devices).
Technobots, as Strafe was one of my first, and was just the right size and alt-mode for a lot of play-fun in my backyard.

Aerialbots. They were the first one I completed as a kid and have always liked that they were jets. I was also really fascinated by Silverbolt's fear of heights and Prime giving him leadership of the group to help him deal with that.

Menasor and Computron have equal second.

Defensor is next with the rest is no particular order.

Aerialbots for me, it was first set that I had as a kid. I loved that fact the Autobots finally had jets to fight the Decepticons in the air. Stunticons come in second because my brother had them.

I honestly do love them all for various reason so it was hard to choose but Piranacon is a super awesome toy. :cool:

For me:

1: Combaticons - they all turn into military vehicles, which seems to make a lot of sense in an eons long civil war. Add's great play value to setting up toy battles too :D

2: Stunticons - first combiner group I ever completed as a kid :)

3: Aerialbots - a bunch of Autobot jets added more storyline options for the cartoon and more play battles for the toys.

4: Protectobots - Hot Spot rules as a toy! In fact they were all pretty good.

5: Technobots - only completed my collection last year. Great to see a team made up of totally cybertronian vehicle alt modes. And Scattershot in my opinion is about the best looking alt-mode commander. :D

6: Seacons - love the fact that the 5 smaller ones all had a Targetmaster mode and that they were interchangeable in gestalt mode so anyone (bar Snap Trap) could become the gun.

7: Terrorcons - Hun-Gurr looks pretty cool, but having a figure like Blot on the team definitely puts them last. :p

Combaticons. Childhood fav; military vehicles/team; good robot and alt modes.

Runner Up:
Technobots. Very nice alt modes; great looking combined robot; Scattershot is a G1 highlight for me.

Special Mention:
Terrorcons - Hun-Grrr is one of my fav G1 toys. Abominus looks fantastic, but the limbs bots are a joke.
Aerialbots - Autobot jets = cool.

I always liked the variety of the Combaticon vehicles and the Aerialbots were the first ones i had but Defensor was always my favourite as a kid. Good variety of vehicles and solid robots each of them.

I was kind of torn between the Aerialbots and Protectobots, but I finally voted for the Aerialbots - the first set I collected. It was great that the Autobots finally had airborne firepower, and Concorde, after all, is the coolest civilian plane ever.

I'm not sure what it was, but I was drawn to the Protectobots for some odd reason, even though they were underused (IMO) in the G1 cartoon. Perhaps it was the odd novelty of a blue fire truck, or the collection of search and rescue vehicles.

For me it's definitely the Stunticons! Always loved how in the G1 Cartoon they would be mistaken for Autobots by humans. Even their alt modes: Semi-Trailer truck, Lamborghini (Contach), Porsche (928), Ferrari (308) and F1 (Tyrrell P34) race car.

A close second would be the Combaticons - c'mon a combining set of military vehicles. Except I was always confused with Blast Off the shuttle being in the team???

If I have to say Autobots then it would be the Aerialbots - combining fighter jets!!
