All plastic I am assuming which is sad.
For the price we pay, you'd think there would be SOME die cast on these things.
Looks fine though.

Trent

You'd have die cast purely for die cast's sake? Unless it's needed for strength or balance what's the point? All it does is chip easy.

Chip easy? Im not sure what you are doing with your die cast figures but it doesnt chip easy.
Besides they can do what so many other companies do and use it internally. Give the figure some heft. I have never had a chipped diecast figure.

I'm with you, VGMStudios. IMO Binaltech gave us much better value for money than MP cars, which is why I prefer to pre-order my MP cars to get discounted price. Unfortunately the local Hasbro price has proven to be about double the preordered Japanese price! And it's not just the die-cast metal, but also level of engineering, design etc. Binaltech just gives you so much more bang for your buck compared to these MP cars.

Having said that, I think that the MP cars are worth paying pre-ordered discount prices for. They still give reasonably decent value considering that they cost approx. the same as say a full priced Voyager figure. $50-60 for an MP car is still infinitely better value than $49 for Age of Extinction Galvatron! ;)

Trent: Only BT-1 is highly prone to paint chipping. Takara did take note and improved the paint on subsequent BTs, making them far more chip-resistant. I once dropped my BT Dead End on a footpath while walking and playing with it at the same time. Not a scratch! :o My heart did stop for a minute though. :p

drifand
18th September 2014, 03:00 AM
The only bt that mine chipped badly was sideswipe viper where his bonnet gets scraped against . This is where the plastic versioned performed better as the colour was almost identical.

Smokescreen didn't scratch as much I felt.

To me the BT series are one of the most collectible series not just based on the quality was used but the type of modern age cars used to represent.
It brought back enough interest for me to look at transformers toys again.

slightly off topic, but do you think there will be any new binaltech or alternators? i kinda like the toyota 86 and stuff, would they make any new ones of those?

I'd say we'd be more likely to get more Alternity, although they're inferior value compared to BT

It's sad how slow EMS is for those of us not in a capital. It takes less time for a EMS to get from Japan to Sydney (about 24 to 48 hours) than it takes to do the Sydney to Gladstone leg (around 3 days). Australia Post really should Express an EMS because thats what we paid for.

It's just a face under his mask, as is also the case for Masterpiece Prime and Magnus. Interestingly, he has the facial hair of Animated Wheeljack.

An interesting but unnecessary addition.
Of course, if you're one for taking your MP's apart and displaying them with a gaping hole in their forehead, then yeah, go for it. I suppose you could place the screw back in to cover it, but then you'll end up with an X on there instead.

What I think is a bummer is that the surprise was found out so soon, I wonder what reason the original discoverer had to warrant pulling the bugger's face off?

HAHA! I don't mind seeing video reviewers man-handle their transformers, it shows how durable they are (or not!). Usually they let you know which parts are more fragile than others, and what they did to break theirs (certain reviewers do this more than others). ;)

So if Peaugh hasn't broken his Wheeljack yet, then it just goes to show the plastic quality of this figure!

Now I just need to stop watching the Wheeljack reviews, makes me even more impatient for the shipping wait....

I usually get mine within 3-4 days from HLJ. I'm in Bundaberg.

Bundaberg is closer to Brisbane than Gladstone both in terms of actual distance and mail routes.

It takes around 2 working days for a package to get from HLJ to Sydney. For some reason I've never had a HLJ order goto Brisbane but most RK orders I get goto Brisbane. The time between Sydney's mail center and Brisbane's mail center is 1 day. Then after it gets to Brisbane it needs to goto Rockhampton which is two days because Australia Post are idiots and then it gets sent back south to Gladstone where I finally get it.

I want my Wheeljack Aust Post!

Looks like mine got stuck in customs, it only ended up in Australia Post's hands last night. Might not get it till the end of the week. I'd love to know why some items get stuck in costumes for days but others (like 99% of my deliveries) go through in hours.

Not battle damage. Wheeljack is a:

Plastic I am afraid, I buying it because is accurate.

To be honest we won't be seeing much metal if you want to see them carry on this line. Is a bit disappointing comparing to binaltech for price wise but that's what it is. I am only glad that the paint apps are pretty good.

There's most definitely a weight to him, albeit just plastic, obviously not as much as there'd be if Diecast were present but to me he feels ever so slightly heavier than G2 Sideswipe (Closest to hand at time). ;)

You may be happy to hear though that Yuki tweeted a day or so ago (https://twitter.com/TFYUKI/status/514275653961531393), if my interpretation of Google's translation is any good :p, he's introduced Diecast parts to both MP Ultra Magnus AND MP Star Saber.

Nooooo, I don't want MP's to go back to the days of diecast. It's so easy to damage the paint on diecast.

Anyway, just got Wheeljack. I actually transformed him perfectly without instructions or videos. I did however miss the mirrors included in the manual's baggie.

After them making a big deal out of the missile being fireable I'm sad to see it's a very tight pressure missile. Since Lego can fit a spring loaded missile in a small 1x4 brick I would have thought Takara would have the ability to include a spring in Wheeljack's launcher.

I wouldn't worry too much. He's probably just referring to certain diecast parts like that found in the torso of MP10, not MP01

MPスターセイバーに関して、言い忘れていた事が! MPスターセイバーには、MPウルトラマグナス同様に 、一部ダイキャストパーツが使用されています。これに関しては、以後テストショット画像と合わせて詳細を御 紹介しようと思います。

then they'd have to do rubber tire version too.

YES! So much yes. I would like to see inner frame in die-cast at least and some rubber tires.

Was disappointed that they didn't even add rubber to Wheeljack or the Autobot cast. For the price we pay you'd think they would. Its like a regular toy release not a MP.

I wonder when will they get the next batch ready. Feels like the price for this piece inflated straight away.

This isn't promoting unauthorised items in the Transformers section... this is just alerting people that there is a Chinese release of stickers for Masterpiece Wheeljack and Prowl (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-masterpiece-47/licensed-masterpiece-prowl-and-wheeljack-sticker-sets-181401/), that looks to be official, but is apparently not.
A shame that they are not official, as they look really nice.
