This just raises questions for me.

I don't know if I'll see it first screening on day one like I did for ROTF and DOTM, might wait till the school holidays finish so theres less screaming kids.

Hahaa, the kids don't phase me. I'll be going to the first midnight screening. Usually filled with more adults in those anyway :D

Too much human emphasis as usual :(. Interesting that Prime has been hiding out in someone's shed. And what kinda noise was that from Grimlock? Sounded like someone was torturing a dugong! :p

That said, I'll be there in Gold Class for the first showing. Already organising the lads for a road trip to Melbourne to watch it :D

Interesting. For the first half or so I thought 'looks like someone's read the first two issues of Marvel's Transformers'.

I'm guessing that bit where optimus just pushes the dinobot aside is when he first recruits them to help.

It does look very much like a "Hero proves himself a mighty warrior to earn the allegiance of some powerful allies" type scene.

We won't have midnight screenings here, we only get that for Star Wars at Gladstone Cinemas (and after TPM 3D midnight screening went over like a bomb I doubt they will do any more). And the Gold Room still uses film, not digital which means no 3D.:(

So instead of "boy meets car" we get "dad meets truck"?

Its got a feel more akin to the first film: human heavy first hour, slowly introduce concept of transformers and charactersthat will spend all screen time fighting, then big battle in the city.

I was suprised the shot of prime ontop of Grimlock wasnt shown.

Looks about the same as I was expecting, not much transformers other than fights.

I think it needs to be this way in Bay's point of view to appeal to the audiences, he's most-likely targeted the film towards to the once teenage boys of 2007 that have become men or fathers over the years and Mark Wahlberg, the struggling father that's doing everything he can to provide for his family will make him relatable to the millions of younger fathers out there. You use a basic family element in your storyline to gather a wider audience base.

I'd love a Transformers movie where there is little to no human interaction, but it runs the risks (despite heaps of people saying they'd love just to see robots killing each other) of lacking the humanity element which draws audiences into it.

I was really surprised they put the riding sequence in the teaser trailer. This latest 'versus Grimlock' fight sequence would have been enough of a money shot and a misdirection to be in the teaser instead. I mean, Grimlock does look evil and the pteradactyl does look to be attacking Bumblebee. Why not give general patrons a Autobot v giant evil Dinosaurs mindset going into the movie? Now if they saw the superbowl trailer there is a 'the Dinosaurs are aggressive and wild but Optimus tames the biggest one' mentality - and this could have all been revealed in the movie.

Watching it again I noticed that those are shells that fall out of Optimus when Marky Mark opens the door. Shouldn't it be bullets falling out if he was pumped full of bullets by some black suited men:confused:. Great work Bay.:p

I thought it was Ultra Magnus initially cause its white in colour, and I dont get why would the humans be fighting with Prime or Transformers? They want to dissect them after they saved the world?

The bot with the gun coming out of the mouth is kinda interesting

That's a great thought, maybe they're not so worried about holding back too many surprises this time.

That's what I was thinking, but then shells are a lot more recognisable than mangled bullets.

Myself, i wasn't going to watch this but my curiosity got the better of me. I find it exciting, just having the giant Robots back on the big screen. I don't like gunface, it just seems ridiculous to me, even in the universe that is movie transformers. It looks like there is some good action and a dash of story.

I'm going to watch a HD version on the TV screen at home tonight. with surround if its supported.

5th March 2014, 04:37 PM
I agree that they should be bullets, not shells... so why are they inside the body/cab of Optimus? To be left inside the cab, someone would need to be in there firing some HUGE calibre gun at something OUT of the cab.

And for shells that big, the gun would have been bigger than the cabin space... but this is what you get from Michael Bay - a series of "money shots". To him it is more important to have something that looks good in a clip or on a trailer, than makes sense in the course of a 2 hour movie.
There could be a reason why spent shells are inside the Cab, but we won't hear it explained in the movie.

Well given how Americans reacted when a couple of thousand civilians were killed in the real world, imagine how they'd react to invaders killing millions of Americans on US soil. Turning NEST into RAAT makes sense to me.

I'm sure there will be a prequel comic book with ugly art that explains how Optimus gets into his starting position for this movie.

Lord_Zed
5th March 2014, 07:48 PM
Ok, that didn't fill me with as much ennui as I expected. It's always nice to see the humans play the bad guys in TF stories, and I didn't see any of the usual shots of the US military shooting Deceptions for a change, so that was nice. I'm not expecting much though, but it does seem like it could be a bit closer to the first one.

I'm hoping Marky Mark will sing the Touch again in this movie.:D

Is like to know what they define as a "fan" and where they get this info? I'd say it has been received with extremely cautious optimism at best. As in at least it doesn't look as bad as ROTF.

I can watch DOTM over and over as long as I don't think to hard about the plot, perfect big budget blockbuster quality for me.:)

Yup, there are few holes at the front of the truck, but the shells looks like spent casings ejected from the weapons that was fired by Prime. They are transformers, so it is most probably not they standard bullets from the human world.

As soon as they release a trailer that shows off the story, that matches well with any action, then I'll get excited.

Part of me hopes that this film returns to having a story like the first, having a much more grounded storyline but considering how well the last two movies performed at the box office, I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Bay and the producers just kept going with the formula they have now and ditch the story and throw in as much visuals as possible. They do have Ehren Kruger who did write the last two movies so my hopes aren't that high...

Exactly. A story, or "plot", would only confuse matters and interfere with all the explosions, arse/boob shots and toilet humour.

And we couldn't have that.

I'm a bit old fashioned and just want a reason for there to be the transition from toilet humour to explosion to arese/boob shot. Oh I suppose a robot scene would have to be included too. ;)
