Yup Gunbuster is nice, I have the SRC version as well and is no where as great as the soc.

And no issues about virus at HLJ.

Hi All, I am new to the forum, been lurking around for a long time now. This is my first post. :) I just got the GX-34R from amiami. I did a quick inspection. Nice metallic red. The ususal high QC, you expect form Bandai SOC. I don't have the GX-34 to compare with. I am very happy Bandai reissue this. I hope exchange rate will improve a bit for the Voltes release, regardless, still going to get it!!!:D

It be better to use the name of the robot toy as I need to recheck which one you are referring. In this case is gunbuster gokin colour.

FYI you already missed Volts reissue. I got it like months back. That was it so I have no idea about any more reissue Volts.

Okay I think there is another run but most pre orders are long sold out. You be lucky if hlj has it in October.

Skl final count version is out for pre order

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOGDS-157213

Available Amiami and Nippon Yasan and Hobbyseach but I went with CDjapan as I have credits expiring this month resulting in $86AU damage delivered.

I seem to avoid Nippon Yasan lately as my discounts are crap and they like to play their customers out by raising prices and decreasing when they found out nobody is buying. Other than Tamashii web exclusive I am just using this place as a backup now as most of my TF mp has swapped over to PC.

Same here, I would have bought it but after pre ordering shockwave and hot rod as you probably know I think I be really breaking my wallet with this one.

Was so tempted to get the gunbuster gokin colour at 15% off at cdjapan at one stage and I am glad I didn't.

Just too many things to buy. I think macross will be my first to let go but I wait for the new series and just get either the hero plane or the skull leader and that will be it.

Any big difference in normal skl and the obvious DVD version?

wow, shipping is 7000 for EMS. Compare to HLJ and Hobbsearch, it is really expensive.

HLJ is always cheapest on EMS as they have a deal with the Japan post, so it is unfair to compare like that. You also need to remember there isn't any sale price available at HLJ . so you are still paying 28,500 + 4420 in total as compared to CDJapan at sale price plus the expensive shipping.

Hobbysearch can be cheaper overall. You need to weigh up which is best as I have not ordered anything from Hobbysearch for a long time.

CDJapan is quite high on their shipping, but this isn't a small item.

I've got a friend who is piecing together a vintage Voltron (Lion) toy. He has a plastic green and black lion.

From what I've been able to work out, the green is definately a KO, but the black has me a bit confused.

He says it's plastic, with some die cast metal in it. I didn't think the original die cast metal Voltron was made in Plastic at all. Anyone have any information they could share? Or better yet, a nice sexy genuine Volty pic for me to squizz over? Mine's back in AUS....:o

My gut says it's a KO since there are so many floating around.

Hi Trent,

I bought Jada diecast "Cars" which imo looks very good in comparison to Chogokin. Toyworld is bringing them in at $40 a pop, and thats a fraction of the chogokin car.

Nah I woke up to myself and cancelled the preorder at the last minute. It worked out to like $550 delivered and I couldn’t justify it.

It will eventually get reissued. I’ll pick it up hopefully at a cheaper price then. What I REALLY want is a SoC Legendary Defender.

First of all; F$&@ YES!

Second; I’m interested to see how the Vehicle Voltron comes out. I had the Miracle Metal Works version a few years ago and while it looked good, it was trash. The numerous combination joints for all the vehicles had just a tiny bit of play in each one. Extrapolate that little bit of play over the whole figure and it became a floppy mess that could barely support itself. I hope Bandai address that in this version.

Thirdly; I hope Blue Fin do a western release for each again.

All the best in getting one.

Lion Voltron was about 35000 although most places had some sort of discount. I personally think that vehicle Voltron would be about the same.

Lion Voltron reissue is mid- year. No confirmed info on vehicle release yet.

I can add that lion Voltron is wonderful.

I just got Megazord and Dragonzord from eBay. I haven't had a chance to really fiddle around with them (include combining), but first impressions are very good. Tight joints and great build quality all round.

Megazord is likely a reissue - the original packaging didn't have 'Megazord' and Power Rangers branding on it, whereas this one does.

Grats on securing one. The pics look really nice. Everywhere else seems out of pre-orders already, surprised that they still have "stock" considering most places sold out within 10mins or so it seems.

Was it NY that previously cancelled some pre-orders because they couldn't eventually fulfill orders at release because they couldn't secure stock? I vaguely remember ppl usually stalking multiple online stores as backup ... or was that a different store? I think it was the case for Macross figures in the past.

This happened for their Tamashii VF 31A, as because Tamashhi stock is STRICTLY by Bandai Japan they miscalculated their stock available. I do not trust them on Tamashii goods 100% as is always better to check Bandai Japan status of stock.

For Normal SOC, I have no issues with NY. Whenever I do get issues, is actually Bandai themselves treating the rest of the world like Gaijin attitude.

I am sorry but seriously Bandai has poor ethics especially with their products.

To me Bandai is a big bully and they know even they loose you as a customer there will be a new sucker any day so take a number.

NY has hardly cause any grief in my opinion, at least less than your local retailers where you keep chasing for updates.

Nicely done. ;)

I was kind of interested in getting it to pair up with the Lion Voltron that I also have pre-ordered from NY. But I didn't know this was up and is too much of a novelty to me to pay the 42,500 it's up for now. I never had it as a kid and was only really into the Lion Voltron cartoon anyway so no big loss. I too nabbed a Voltron, pretty happy. Especially since Amazon's stock lasted all of maybe 10 minutes before being stuck with BS marketplace prices......

It feels like people jumped on it, to make it a higher price and you were just lucky to get in there at the start....

I was in a meeting at the time the preorders went up and of course my phone decided to have network problems.... Power Rangers fans may already know this, but unlike Soul of Chogokin Megazord and Dragonzord, which were engineered from scratch, Titanus isn't a new mould; it's based on the Titanus from Bandai America's Legacy Power Rangers line. The original was from 2014, and retailed for USD199.99. The JPY29160 RRP (including tax) on the Tamashii Nations website (https://tamashii.jp/item/12699) for SoC Titanus converts to USD269.90 at current rates, which is actually better than aftermarket prices for Legacy Titanus.

Legacy Titanus was already a pretty good figure, so perhaps it didn't make sense for Bandai Japan to make an entirely new Titanus, so they remoulded it and added more diecast metal. The reuse of the mould probably helped to keep the cost down; an all-new Titanus would have almost certainly cost more.

Its poor quality period, I anint going to make excuses to defend the toy. Its a mismatch to the other two. I dont regard this as SOC grade at all.

Lack of metal isn't the issue, is the finishing is cheap. This is my most underwhelming figure of 2019. < says a lot as I have more respect to TF MPs which at least recently paint their figures. This is Bandai taking few steps back or being slack.

Simply put lazy, and full profiteering. If the finishing was at least had some attention, I pass it. There isn't.

I highly dont recommend this soc unless is 15,000jpy and under. IMO this toy doesn't do the other two any justice and it makes them worse off on display.

While I can understand if some people think Titanus is a step down from Megazord and Dragonzord, I, and a lot of owners, still think it looks pretty good. I don't really see anything fundamentally wrong with the finishes on the plastic.

Speaking of plastic, I noticed that you seem to be ok with a relative 'lack' of metal in this instance, yet you've complained on several occasions that Takara's Masterpiece line lacks diecast:

You are not but however I want a total perfection series where they don’t cut corners and budget and skip paint or diecast. I know it be more expensive but if it was perfect, I would buy it. Plus rubber tyres.

It be a smart move after two years they offer replacement tyres as a product for a collectors display piece.

But seeing the direction, I don’t think Tomy cares and they rather sell good quality Tomy products over Takara trying to make one. Binaltech was the last best thing Takara ever did. From then on is all plastic.

For argument sake this is what I want. Like what 3p does such as products from Fantoys. We can go about stupid silly arguments like rubber tyres can wear tear, plastic is better. I have already stated paint on metal is noticeably better.

I don’t think I care? And I just want premium finish. Buy a “masterpiece if you want to just keep playing “ I want a rock solid piece.

Mp-1 was considered the real masterpiece because it appealed to many at that time that it was a solid diecast robot. Paint, individual articulated fingers, spring suspension, rubber tyres. Is the premium feel to it. Mp-10 looks great except it lack bits and pieces and is actually a cheaper product and you get charged more for it.

As seeing what TT release this year, it looks like my spending will be minimal.

My issue is there seems to be people who support an official low quality product.
Trust me that I lowered my expectations for MPs by a huge margin and the minimum they could do was get the QC right which they keep failing.

When I hold sideswipe and next to tracks it clearly shows poor paint job on tracks. Look at your binaltech tracks blue.

I also agree on the scale cut back it pissed off quite a few people hence the support is here. What some people would consider a MPs

1. Bigger scale
2. Painted not cut corners
3. Diecast
4. Rubber wheels which spells premium not cheap plastic.

I have avoided Ko tfs just for ethnic reason but frankly speaking it is wrong to keep supporting a bad product.

Crap takara should just sell tf masterpiece to bandai and let them make a proper premium product. My metal build is light years ahead in quality.

Because of the following:
1. The metal give a deeper shine to the toy which equals higher grade of quality, As I pointed, Wheeljack mp felt lack of paint on White plastic.

2. The rubber tyres debate is because toy car collectors DO NOT collect toy cars with plastic wheels (in their premium range, not referring to matchbox cars here) is a slap to them, hence the follow suit here in a Masterpiece line, not for other transformers though.

"I bet you could make the alts look just as nice with the same paint and you wouldn't know the difference..."

There is a difference and this is coming from someone who owns nearly the entire set. You can compare Swindle BT vs Alternators version, The Namesis Prime and the alt version, close but not as deep in colour. Not to mention the White Jazz RX8 in metal and plastic, Big difference.

If rubber tyers were bad, why bother to do it on optimus and Magnus?

I am not denying the disadvantages of metal and rubber tyres. However, that is the premium way of a product. Using metal wrongly as stated is bad.

Probably why you don't see Bandai making Soul of Plastickin as its not something they would consider premium and hence they produce a cheaper range line for those with the exact same mecha.

Mind you, there isn't any point for me to whinge about it as I don't make the decisions of what TT decides, they decide plastic wheels and so it is. I am just pointing out what I felt the mp line lacked but you guys are still happy to pay premium for it.

Not for me, mines perfect . I can't do any more with mp 10, is plastic, you will break it if you force it more.

To be honest, everything else was a let down when they went with plastic then smaller scale. Is a masterpiece , I expect really good diecast materials involved.

For me mp-10 is way overrated and people are so convinced by the vid reviews.
They are forgetting how solid mp-1 is. I swear if you reversed the release people will scream more for mp-1 any day .

Of course I still like mps but I have to lower my expectations a lot more to appreciate it.

So, what would you change on Titanus so that it meets your standards?

I like to put the masterpiece line OUT of the chogokin topic. Masterpiece is already what it is. They have increased the quality by painting their figures atm. Diecast is not in topic because Takara isn't changing their flow of things. (I moved on) This doesn't mean I have to Love and kiss their arse to justify their increase in pricing. When they do release a nice figure, I do acknowledge it. While is a (I move on) situation, I find Fantoys as my solution of what I wanted from Masterpiece line. If you ask me, the 3p Masterpiece Primes are nice designs from MS and TE but they both lack a serious thing and is as simple as paint to match ironhide and inferno. < This is a deal breaker for me, may not for many, and hence why I look at MP44 as my choice of replacing my mp-10.

So lets talk about Titanius? Here's the thing, its a total mismatch. I seriously not being OCD here, just have a look at your own picture. You are putting two very nicely done up figure on a cheapo plastic looking white dino. S. If a company didn't do it right and in this instance I do feel its below the CHOGOKIN line standards, I say it.

What would I change? I say the white on the plastic. It feels cheap, it doesn't feel like it belongs to this< I personally would take a darker hint of greyish white to give a more mature look. The neck with the grey bits maybe make it more metallic? I mean look at the grey bits? It feels too kiddish? And you look and the Dragonzord silver arm, look how well is it done up? Or alternatively use pearl white which gives a metallic white to it. Some how the white on this piece is off putting than complimenting.

Maybe look at VF-1J DX Chogokin white? If you have the toy you notice it isn't the white like Titanius.

Here's the thing if its going to cost me MORE to have a nice figure, I would pay it rather than paying for something that makes the other two look way better and this guy just makes the combined mode look bad.
I am definitely considering flipping mine off.

Maybe best way to compare is when my Godmas soc comes and we can see the difference in the White parts? My GGG white lion doesn't feel cheap, the Ideon soc on white bits is very nice white.
Considerably I hated my Metal build Red Astray White, is the same deal with this piece. The Blue Metabuild Astray looks like Bandai changed it.

In my opinion, I don't like this figure, For 22,000jpy I didn't feel it was worth that much and thats not even RRP Bandai is asking. Mind you I hardly kick a fuss in the soc line, but I feel this was a first.

You may not be a Tetsujin 28 fan, but Action Toys Heavy Metal T-28 is my vote for the chogokin toy of 2019.

I'm conflicted on this whole white plastic issue, I honestly dislike the grey-white they used on the hi metal vf1's (which look the same as the DX chogokins) but excused it because it MIGHT offset yellowing, and yet here we are, the very white I WANT in a figure, it only looks cheap because it has etched details and you're aware its plastic and those details are not fleshed out (a wash might solve this), being white highlights this, if it was painted white but those details were still not filled in would it be that noticeable?

I don't get the whites they're using at bandai, all I know is from those pics they seem quite fitting to me personally.

Ok, thank you for replying.

I brought up the issue of diecast because you have been very vocal in the past about the lack of diecast, so to read you not minding it was a surprise.

Megazord and Dragonzord have quite a lot of unpainted plastic on them, and somehow don't look cheap, so what is different when Bandai do the same with Titanus?

On the show, Titanus had a slight shine to him, although he wasn't as glossy or shiny as this figure. I have a feeling that a duller white plastic would look cheap - more so than the glossy plastic the figure currently has. From pictures and a YouTube video, the DX Chogokin VF-1J has a matte paint job, which probably wouldn't suit the slight shine Titanus has. Sure, it's tempting to say Bandai cheaped out by not painting every white piece, but if a similar enough effect can be achieved by just using plastic colourants instead of adding the extra step of painting each piece, why not? Also, since the figure was originally designed and engineered to work without an extensive paint job, I wonder if adding a layer of paint would change the tolerances so parts would start rubbing against each other or not fit properly.

The grey in the neck segments is already metallic - it's a darker, gunmetal grey rather than a silver. It also looks like a fairly good match for the grey on the body. If you watch the show, the darker parts between the white segments on the neck are just that - dark. They're not meant to be bright metallic.

For anyone who's interested, this site has some images of the Titanus prop from the show. (http://supersentai.com/database/1992_zyuranger/sz-brachion.htm)

Diecast is lacking on tfs, I love mp-1.
What bugged me more was paint was lacking on tfs. It became a acceptable standard which kinda let down.

The metal for titanius is at several places, Metal in this case was not the issue, for me is just the overall figure did not gel well with the other two. The quality build feels underwhelming and the price well I don?t see it for what they wanted.
I like to move on. If you love it, good for you. I have no issues here. I just feel this isn?t an soc standard, simply holding my godsigma and looking at this piece just doesn?t feel the same.

Unfortunately this type of white plastic doesn?t do it for me and is coming from a guy who collect Gundam toys. Which I had the same issue with metal build astray red frame.. it feels cheap.

Same if you use this on vf-1j it will be yuk. I prefer a Matt white finish.

I grabbed a Vehicle Voltron from Amazon. Pretty happy. Both SoC Voltrons will look damn good standing next to each other.

After seeing Vehicle Voltron I couldn't help myself and I bought it and found Lion too. My first SOC products. Now to decide if I display them in my office or home office...

Must control the urge to pre-order this! I'm getting FOMO, they would absolutely look great together!

All right I caved and pre-ordered Vehicle Voltron . Lion Voltron wouldn't have looked right on its own in the Detolf. Got the 2nd last one on Nippon-Yasan.

Enjoyed my Godmaz soc, totally a better finish than what Titanius was.
