Sign me up! Robot mode looks decent but the alt mode is pretty blocky, though I suppose it's fairly true to G1 in that respect. Will definitely pick it up, but I'm a lot more interested in Snarl, Sludge and, eventually, FT's take on Grimlock which now appears to be confirmed. :)

I've already pre-ordered (& pre-paid) Bullsfire DB-01 Air Stike (http://www.robotkingdom.com/db01.html) from RK. :(
There seems to be no shortage of 3rd parties pumping out the dinobots.
I might sit back and wait for all the releases, though I must admit this FT-05 Soar blue colour variant looks very attractive.

Preordered! Thanks for the heads up.
I went with the blue version (because I had preordered cartoon colours Scoria before I realised they were going to do toy colours as well). I think I like the contrast better than the G1 toy accurate colours anyhow, but seeing Scoria and Soar together I am a little concerned they might be too colourful. I hope the other dinobots' colour schemes tone the group as a whole down a bit.
That said I have half a plan to get the Giga Power dinobots to represent the toy accurate colours anyway.
Then I just have to decide which set will be in bot mode and which in dino mode.
Good thing it is such a dud year for Star Wars collecting . :)

Maybe... But I don't envisage buying any more transformers after this, so in the grand scheme of collections I'm okay with it.
I only really have MPs 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 17 (and I'll get 21 as well), and the anniversary TRu release of Soundwave. And I have only hung onto my G1 Grimlock and Swoop.
Outside of Soundwave, more dinobots is what I really coveted as a kid. I had Grimlock when he was released, which none of my friends had, but I always wanted the full team (Swoop I managed to find at retail in '92 in South America).
So these third party companies are really offering me an opportunity to modernise my dream collection from when I was a kid. I was entertaining the notion of tracking down the three G1 dinobots I don't have when I discovered Scoria's existence about two weeks ago!

I can't decide on which colour version to get. The red one for toy accuracy, or the blue one for cartoon accuracy. The red will help all the dinobots look good together as a group. But Swoop always looked like the odd one out, cause he was smaller, and with blue he will look more so. But I like the blue as I believe it matches his character.
The red version matches that beautiful g1 box art, and make for a more coherent piece to look at. In the end both versions will look fantastic I'm sure. The red on Caelus (fall of cybertron swoop) works just fine. I think it all depends when they show a finished product. Until then I like both

So buy both :p
But seriously though, I've gone blue more for show accuracy. Most of the MP line is show accurate. Though I do like the red too. Is a difficult choice I'll admit.

While I'm fairly sure I am going to get Fans Toys' and Giga Power's dinobots, I admit that I struggled with which Soar to get as well.
But given that there hasn't been an announcement of Giga Power doing cartoon-accurate variants, I went with FT's blue version.
But I still have the dilemma of which company's figures to display in which mode.
Cartoon dinos or cartoon bots? First world problems, I know.

It's funny, I'm loving the cartoon accurate colours and bot modes in MP, but for some reason it's the toy designs that resonate for me with the dinobots. Must've spent too long staring at dinobots in those cross sell brochures as a kid.

I.m a bit surprised they are releasing the toy accurate one, I would think they would make it a limited release.
As these Dinobots are made to fit in with TaKTom's MP's which are all focused on cartoon accuracy it seems obvious the blue one will be a better seller.

I think it's an experiment to gauge interest. They can see what percentage of buyers want the toy version and make a decision from there.

I believe the toy colours will be a more limited release. Word from a couple of smaller online sellers is that the blue version is outselling red on the order of 10 to 1. It makes sense to keep costs down by combining the cartoon and toy manufacturing runs, and it's unlikely that they'll be cannibalising their own sales as I expect most people only want one or the other, or both. They'll probably use the preorder numbers to gauge the number of each variant to produce.

This is seriously very well designed and also cartoon accurate IMO.
Damn all these 3rd party companies... been trying to cut down on me collection but with them churning out such appealing TF figures, I can't stop :p
I'm wondering if this would have some bits of diecast metal in it as that'll truly lock in the purchase for me.

For us older fans I'd assume most would go for the 3p G1 or Foc inspired stuff...there's some beautiful releases coming out (as long as QC is strong)
Can't see myself hunting down any AOE dinos they are just not MY dinobots ;) but I will take them for what they are; dinobots for the 8 year olds and the not too transformers savvy masses. And that's ok.

Red version of soar in January?
I have a question if anyone might know. Will the red version come with alternate parts? if so what are they. I just watched a review where the blue version, has a gold beak and the alternate clear version. Also the wings are chromed, and there is an alternate set, not chromed just painted silver.
I am assuming the red version will have the alternate parts, but would like clarification. Thanks.

Same here, especially at the shoulder joint so the arms could collapse. Apart from that though, a very solid figure. The weight was the first thing I noticed. And the chrome, silver, gold and red - all the colours of the G1 Dinobot rainbow!!
I also like the face changing gimmick. Quite a nice touch. This is what I expect Masterpiece grade to be. Definitely belongs behind glass on display. If only I had more room...
