Transparent G1 Optimus Prime!?

There were two types of transparent Optimus toys, and both are fakes/KO.
The coloured one you posted is from here (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/creative-general-discussion/213993-transparent-optimus-prime.html), and is claimed to be a custom job (just one made), but I think there have been others.
While the clear white one is also a KO, as noted here (from 2008) (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/creative-general-discussion/213993-transparent-optimus-prime.html), here (http://www.transformertoys.co.uk/resources/review/non-official/clear+optimus+prime+/3671), and here (with gold parts) (http://www.toyhell.com/remakes.html)... and first showed up in 2002 (http://tformers.com/transformers-transparent-g1-optimus-prime-figure/635/news.html) but was assumed to be a Lucky Draw toy, as we had Optimus/Convoy being reissued at that time, and there were a couple of limited edition figures already....
The "gold" one (http://tfsource.com/products/view/product_id/4464/) had a couple of gold parts, and apparently there was only 25 (http://www.soundwavesoblivion.com/reissuestandard.html). (I thought there were more than that, as I've seen a few of them for sale over the years... so maybe it was KOed as well)
The black one had 2000 made for a Japanese convention (http://www.soundwavesoblivion.com/toyarchive/reissue/exlconvoyblackversion.html), so isn't as rare as most convention exclusives, or even many of the Gen1 reissues at that time (most were limited to just 1000 units). But be aware of the KO of the black one, as noted in this discussion topic (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/335845-questions-about-jafcon-prime.html#post5352816).
(plus there was a non-transforming gold statue of the Optimus/Convoy toy (http://www.luckydrawtransformers.com/content.php?/transformers-lucky-draw/toy-gallery/1793/Gold+Convoy+Statue.html), which there were 10 made)

There are a lot of different coloured official Optimus Prime toys (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Optimus_Prime_%28G1%29/toys), but transparent/translucent ones have not (yet) been done.

I think the only transparent Gen1 toys are Starscream (as two Japanese exclusives - one with colours (http://www.soundwavesoblivion.com/toyarchive/reissue/ehstarscreamghost.html), and one with no colours (http://www.soundwavesoblivion.com/reissuestandard.html)), Ultra Magnus (in yellow (http://www.soundwavesoblivion.com/toyarchive/reissue/exlshiningmagnus.html)), Hot Rod (in full colour (http://www.soundwavesoblivion.com/toyarchive/reissue/exlcrystalrodimus.html)), Eject/Rewind (as Solarbot in yellow), and Sixshot (in clear white).

Ive got the clear, black and gold KOs... just saw that one on ebay (gone now) and he wanted a fair amount for it. Thought they might have been a new KO aswell available elsewhere... and cheaper!

I passed on getting the Bape versions... the camo scheme just doesn't do it for me, though the cabs do look sweet lined up like that.

It appears Chimungmung (http://chimungmung.com/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=767) has the Exile iPod Convoy cab only for sale at a reasonable price. No trailer, speaker or accessories.

I kinda wished I didn't get rid of some of the rare ones I had, but man, do I love em G1 Prime variants... seriously can't get enough of em! :D

Just an update - I found another transparent prime on ebay & it turns out the guy just paints a clear version, its not actually coloured plastic.

Ive got a spare clear KO prime, and also the appropriate transparent Tamiya paints... might even give it a go myself!
