Looks pretty good. Hopefully TT are making theirs ;)

Not bad. It's an improvement over classics but I'm not sure it's a $100 improvement.

Of all the TFs they could have picked I hardly think we needed another CHUG Cyclonus.

Looks very similar to Jizaitoys' Wonderfest release.

Looks really good. If they get the colours right it'll be smashing.
Agree with Cbratron though, although it's an improvement over the $20 CHUG Cyclonus, people will be hard pressed to fork out 4x as much dough for this

Similar? To me it looks more exact than similar.
If we had an MP sized release, I'd be all over it. But a CHUG release? I'm quite happy with my CHUG Cyclonus.

Nice but I already have a Classics Clyclonus.

So do people actually still use the "third party is awesome because hey do characteres Hasbro and TT would never touch!" excuse for copyright infringment? Because, well. With this, and the Ultra Magnus amongst others... what a crock.
And it's not even the IDW version! That I could kind of understand, but Cyclonus was pretty much nailed by Hasbro/Takara, and this isn't all that different (or better looking).

In some instances, some 3rd party products are great. But KFC, not. Their quality is sub-par too.
Look at Fans Toys for instance. They had and MP Soundwave in the works for a while before Takara announced theirs. But they cut their losses with that figure and decided to do Quakewave instead. It's quite unlikely that Takara will do a Shockwave, so Quake is a good substitute. I'd still probably buy a Shockwave if they did one.
But to do a character that already has a nice official release, seems stupid to me too.

Speaking of sub-par quality of KFC products, anyone got a contact email for them?

Interesting, if he's CHUG style there is already a decent Classics toy.
Still if this guy ends up looking good next to UT's Mania King, then I just might consider him.

I fail to see the point of this post.

It seems they're on Facebook. The guys on TFW2005 have had lots of complaints. Probably check there on the KFC Magnus thread.
This looks good but release after their release and one thing stays the same: bad QC. No point having a great looking toy if it flops on its face.

That I could kind of understand, but Cyclonus was pretty much nailed by Hasbro/Takara, and this isn't all that different (or better looking). Can't speak for anyone else, but I personally use a combination of the "couldn't care less about copyright infringement, especially for likenesses rather than outright KOs" and the "and if I did care about copyright I'd have to boycott official TFs too, since HTT happily infringe upon car models with the same legally-distinct trick that 3PPs do". And a dash of "it's just toy collecting, I'd rather save my indignation for something that actually matters" for taste.
But, you know, opinions vary on all of the above.;)
In this case, it's an easy pass - Henkei Cyclonus still works fine for me, even with the less-than-great alt-mode...and this one isn't all that much better there. Couple that with, well, KFC often not being that great anyway, and I'll just go back to waiting for a box set of the MMC Feralcons and a handful of upgrade kits.

Great point! Agree totally. :) I have the Hasbro classics version and I'm happy with that.

Personally the only Cyclonus I would like to see in the future is either a Voyager version from Hasbro, or even better a masterpiece. Would make sense if a Galvatron came before though. I would give a third party a go , but it would need to be innovative and come from the more reputable ones.

Looking at it now on the laptop, you're right. it's a blatant rip off
CBratron
20th May 2014, 11:51 PM
I wouldn't call it a ripoff. The engineering is identical but this is a more refined version of the mold with extra detail and better tolerancing.
Almost like Jizai sold the mold or a prototype to KFC. A theory made more plausible when you remember the same thing happened with their Wheelie and Powerglide molds.

Not straight out the same, but so many things are the same, just more detailed and refined. The gun is the same for sure. If Jizai did sell it to KFC, wouldn't surprise me. Equally doesn't surprise me that there will be QC issues coming from KFC.

KFC does not represent the 3rd party industry. It is in fact seen as a 'less than good' contributor.

the figure is up for pre-order on chimungmung. It looks great and am very excited for it, but I won't commit to buying it till reviews are out. I'm rather optimistic though, as I definitely see potential in KFC. They just need to get their butts in gear.

I was really excited by the images of this guy when I got TFSource's mailout (http://tfsource.com/kfc/tempest/) at the same time as Unique Toys' Mania King repaint. Cyclonus is my fav Season 3 Decepticon. I am apprehensive about KFC's quality standards...

Still on the fence on this one, in some shots he looks good, in others not so much. I'm impressed with the colours though, they seem to have captured the elusive blue/purple colour that seems so hard for every other company.

+1.
Really hope their QC gets better as I really want this.

Peaugh review of the figure. I'm pretty disappointed. I was hoping it'd be proper voyager size, but it's only a little bigger than the CHUG Cyclonus. I don't really mind the look of it, even the goofy looking hands are bearable in my opinion, but just too much wrong with it to be worth it.

Just not as dynamic as what I wanted it. Its funny, in the video you can immediately see how boxy the torso is. Pass, particularly after the Citizen Stack-gate.

It seems like the QC got better, but the aesthetic seems a little too G1 and boxy for my liking.

Doesn't make the cut for Cyclonus in my book.
He's got a face of a witch somehow :p
