I'm thinking someone at Hasbro needs to brush up on their definitions of "Platinum" and "Silver"!
This has got to be the cheapest and worst looking TF in recent memory... possibly of all time.

Keep him mostly unpainted and call him Silver Knight OP. Hasbro you are a genius.

Hasbro, this is starting to apply to more and more of your releases:

I like repaints, and I like the FE Optimus Prime, but this is honest to gosh the worst repaint I have ever seen.

ETA: I often wait for the repaints of things. In this case, I actually feel like Hasbro are rewarding me for buying the First Edition when it came out. This is a terrible, terrible depaint, not even worth of being called a repaint. In my opinion, because repaints are inherently a cost-saving measure, the repaint should be better than the original, or at least significantly different enough that they aren't comparable. In this case... just no. I mean, look at all that horrible Hasbro grey! It's so drab, so dreary... no fun at all.

The worst part is I was really hoping for a Silver Knight repaint of the leader, so I'd have a good reason to buy it as well as the FE. But if this is what that would look like, then I am so unbelievably sad.

I cross my fingers and hope even harder for an Australian release of the DOTM Prime and Grimlock 2-pack.

De-paint... damn, that is a missed opportunity on my part for the thread title!

Releases like this, and the awful AOE Titans, are legitimate Hasbro TFs that look like cheap nasty KOs. Seriously - it's dull, washed out grey, not silver. I'm sure there are some talented and hard working designers at Hasbro, but come on. It can't be hard to do better than this.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Ha. It's like an April Fool's' joke in May. I love the way that the Platinum Edition is less platimum than the original and almost entirely Hasbro grey.

Do I have to post Zoidberg again?

LOL. :)

We've sold about 12 Titans since release, so there's definitely a market for crap

The First Edition needed the chrome to give it a reason to sell... this one, if it is the same price, isn't going to be bought by anyone.
The truck mode just looks awful.

THIS.........But come on we know that most KOs are light years better than Hasbro grey Prime. Take one Bad toy(in my opinion) and make it worse GO HASBLOW :confused:

In a closed box and very very fine print saying "product does not convert" most people buy them not realising that they don't Transformer... similar to the Robot Replicas from the first two movies, that had toys returned to stores and some pretty negative feedback from parents not realising that they were non-convertible.

Wasn't Shogo Hasui moved from the MP line to work on the AoE toy line? Surely this CAN NOT be his handy work...

The one time they ACTUALLY needed the chrome to make it effective. -_-

I'm not sure whether that's correct or not - the only anomaly I've recently heard about with designers is MP Star Saber being designed by someone else than the main designer due to time constraints.

But in any case, this... thing... is a Platinum series release, not a movie line toy. Presumably the deco decisions are made by a different team than those busy designing toys from scratch.

The release date of this in America is September 14th (http://www.target.com/p/transformers-platinum-silver-knight-collector-ver-exclusive/-/A-15223629#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=silver+knight) for $60.
I don't think we'll get this here.

Hasbro are raising a generation of Americans who are going to identify flat grey as 'Silver'

Maybe, Vert, but then again i don't work in the most affluent part of Sydney, so in that respect i can understand why they've sold so well.
The 16'' Titans that we had on sale for $15 completely sold out in a few days & even the regular 12" versions after being restocked for the sale & display stand are all but gone now.
When i think about it, a cheap, large plastic toy that kids can run around with, the Titans have done what they set out to do.

Official images came out of the Silver Knight First Edition Optimus (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-toys-products-30/new-official-images-of-platinum-edition-silver-knight-optimus-prime-180722/), that would be a better looking toy if it wasn't overly photoshopped by Hasbro to make the grey plastic glisten.
If this was in a sealed box with those images on the outside, people would probably be returning the toy thinking it was faulty (not painted).

Yes this is very true, but also the picture of a MacDonald's burger does that too compared to the real thing.

I guess it's just one more disappointment we must live with :(
But definitely needs more Chrome.

I can understand this definitely for the younger demographic of children. Because the very young have big imaginations, thats why these things succeed. Then a few years older and kids start to get more excited about cooler things like cars and planes that transform into robots, how awesome is that :D I know that is what I was thinking when I was young. Because with imagination I was looking at cars and trucks on the road and imagining what they would look like, if they could transform into robots.

In regards to this Silver Knight Optimus Prime, they really should paint him silver and not just grey plastic. That is just morally bankrupt. I really dislike the deception :p
