Damn, I didn't even know he was sick. And he didn't seem that old either.

Transfans will remember him for the role as Bobbie Bolivia, the used car salesman in the 2007 Movie, who sold Bumblebee to Sam and his father at the start of the movie.

"Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital," his publicist, Danica Smith, said on Saturday in a statement from Los Angeles.
She said no other details were available and asked that his family's privacy be respected.
The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalised and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.

He was probably more famous in America than here because of his 'Bernie Mac Show', which I don't think screened here. At least, not on free to air. It lasted 5 years and over 100 episodes.

Other notable roles included the Oceans Eleven movies and Charlies Angels 2.

He was was born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough on October 5, 1957, in Chicago. Died at age 50, 9th August 2008.

I've always thought that his performance in Mr 3000 was one of his best.

That's pretty rare for someone to die of pneumonia... especially if he's fine and healthy.

Usually ppl die of the illness bcoz they're either very sick (immunodeficient or old age)... or they have preexisting lung disease....

Bernie Mac did actually suffered from sarcoidosis, which is what made his pneumonia lethal.

Funny, clever, guy. R.I.P. ):

The dude, had the most awsome laugh you could get :D

Its such a shame. I was actually hoping he would make another appearance in TF2. Like he sells another car and it turns out to be yet another TF.

:(

Maybe they should do a scene in TF2 where another used car dealer has Autobots in his sales yard and he says "Now I know why Bobby retired!" when they transform and run off.

All I've been hearing on the news all weekend is Isaac Hayes. Nothing about Bernie Mac. Weird. I though BM was more well known. And was hoping to see them use clips of him from the TF Movie.

Isaac Hayes is well known here mainly for South Park, even if he is a well know Soul singer in his own right. Bernie Mac is mainly known here for his films rather than his comedy work.

RIP Bernie...

I guess they have to get someone else to play Bobbie Bolivia in TF2 (reprise role perhaps?)
