History Lesson:

Back in the mid-90s there was a superbly wicked concept for a product line by Gary Goddard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Goddard#Work_in_television) (Also known for directing the '87 He-Man film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masters_of_the_Universe_%28film%29) & the Captain Power (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Power) franchise ;)); Skeleton Warriors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeleton_Warriors) was aimed to be the 90's "He-Man" franchise and whilst it ultimately never met that lofty goal, it did go on to produce an award winning cartoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3ZlpTp_dJA) & toyline (http://youtu.be/C3VOXsiboHo?t=26s), as well as a highly successful line of trading cards (Of which I've the entire set :D).

Here's Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeleton_Warriors#Summary)'s summary of the franchise's plot:

The story takes place on the distant planet of Luminaire. The conflict of the plot revolves around the need to control the Lightstar Crystal. This powerful crystal powers the great city of Luminicity. Baron Dark, the show's main villain, tried to steal the crystal in order to gain control over its incredible power. He only succeeded in obtaining half of the crystal, with the other half being obtained by Prince Lightstar.

The half of the crystal that the Baron Dark managed to obtain turns him into a living skeleton. It also gives him the power to turn those with evil hearts into living skeletons for his army. Each episode involves Prince Lightstar, his siblings and Baron Dark attempting to obtain the other half of their respective crystals in order to gain control over the planet.

Prince Lightstar forms part of the "Legion of Light." It consists of Justin Lightstar a.k.a. Prince Lightstar, Joshua Lightstar a.k.a. Grimskull, and Jennifer Steele a.k.a. Talyn. They also have been endowed with great powers through their half of the Crystal. They team together with their uncle Ursak (a.k.a. Guardian) to battle the evil Baron Dark. While Baron Dark is transformed into an undead skeleton and given the ability to transform other living beings into his Skeleton Warriors, the Legion of Light gains other fantastic abilities: Lightstar gains the ability to channel energy through his hands, Talyn gains the power of flight, and Grimskull is transformed into an undead creature similar to the Baron, but also has the power to travel through shadows.

The toyline, whilst award winning in its day, was highly detailed but severely hampered by Playmates penchant for pre-posing their sculpts before adding articulation; it was teased that there'd be a 2nd wave of figures, including a glorious & huge Bone-Dragon and Talyn, but alas the line was cancelled (http://www.oafe.net/blog/2002/10/on-the-failure-of-skeleton-warriors/) before they and others could see production. :(

The Future:

This new line seeks to revive this great toyline and by bettering the figures in the process. :D

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/37761bf736c520d0f0689b974cd613f9_large_zps5e0cb4cf .jpg

George Gaspar (https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/georgegaspar) (October Toys (http://octobertoys.com/)), with Official licensing by Goddard Film Group LLC (http://www.goddardfilmgroup.com/) and working with Matt Doughty of Onell Design (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onell_Design) (Glyos (http://www.onelldesign.com/store/) fame), will be producing these new figures based upon a combination of the oldschool toys, original concepts by Gary Goddard and employing the Glyos-style joint system. :)

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/1e91b68e3fe765fc552287b86455adf1_large_zps17ec0b06 .jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/91c9fd1332d7229523f90022ebcc6c61_large_zps2de69fe8 .jpg

The 1st of these figures, Baron Dark himself!, is aimed to have:

5" fully painted PVC action figure
17 modular official Glyos compatible pieces
26 points of articulation
Removable sword, cape, loin cloth, and arm guards (for a total of 21 pieces)
Packaged in full colour collectors window box

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/1b82bdadd59d79649f79df8d00f6fe1f_large_zpse459b0bd .jpg

These figures are designed to be a 3 3/4" scale line of articulated PVC action figures. Baron Dark is the biggest of the main cast of characters and clocks in at 5" tall - Future figures will remain in scale; so for instance, Prince Lightstar will be 3 3/4" tall.

Baron Dark is ready to go into production as the first figure of this updated Skeleton Warriors line and with the help of fellow Toy collectors, it has a chance to live a-new and better than before! :D:cool: - So if you're a fan of the show or things like "Masters of The Universe" and the like, then I once again implore you...

PLEASE go here to the Kickstarter Page for all the information (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) about this new line's release; At the very least, even if you're not interested in it, could anyone reading this please spread the word via any Social Media platform you've access to! :o - Just use this link for Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/login.php?skip_api_login=1&api_key=69103156693&signed_next=1&next=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fv1.0%2Fdialo g%2Fshare%3Fredirect_uri%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fs-static.ak.facebook.com%252Fconnect%252Fxd_arbiter% 252FV80PAcvrynR.js%253Fversion%253D41%2523cb%253Df 17519c6998503e%2526domain%253Dwww.kickstarter.com% 2526origin%253Dhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.kicks tarter.com%25252Ff3d418db9cb1f5e%2526relation%253D opener%2526frame%253Df8c14bb353d04e%2526result%253 D%252522xxRESULTTOKENxx%252522%26display%3Dpopup%2 6href%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.kickstarter.com%25 2Fprojects%252Fgeorgegaspar%252Fskeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures%26client_id%3D69103156693%26ret%3Dlogin%26 sdk%3Djoey&cancel_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fs-static.ak.facebook.com%2Fconnect%2Fxd_arbiter%2FV8 0PAcvrynR.js%3Fversion%3D41%23cb%3Df17519c6998503e %26domain%3Dwww.kickstarter.com%26origin%3Dhttps%2 53A%252F%252Fwww.kickstarter.com%252Ff3d418db9cb1f 5e%26relation%3Dopener%26frame%3Df8c14bb353d04e%26 result%3D%257B%2522e2e%2522%253A%2522%257B%257D%25 22%257D%26e2e%3D%257B%257D&display=popup), this link for Twitter (https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Skeleton%20Warriors%20Glyos%20Compatibl e%20Action%20Figures%20by%20George%20Gaspar&via=kickstarter&url=http://kck.st/1kxZrcd&original_referer=https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) and this link to embed it on your website (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/widget).

Thanks for sharing, very interesting concept, and first time I've heard of these toys and the cartoon.

They could be quite different to MOTU, but it almost feels a bit like:

Baron Dark = Skeletor
Lightstar = Adam / He-Man
Talyn = Teela
Ursak = Duncan / Man-At-Arms
:)

I reckon Skeletor, Mumm-Ra, and Baron Dark should be known as the Trinity of Evil Boneheads (well, except Mumm-Ra does have flesh over his skull).

Really? - Well, cheers Sam for taking an interest, I hope it's been enough for you to perhaps consider backing the project? (:p) or at least pass it along to someone you know who may be curious and into this sort of thing. :)

Yeah, you can clearly see the similarities can't you? :D - Alas, it may of actually hit that cult-level status of MOTU had it not of been for the delay in the Cartoon's production, to the point of debuting and directly competing with this other little show (http://youtu.be/vQz8iZ9ot1I). :(

But yeah, the archetypes are definitely present but the spark, I feel, was Grimskull as he was a character that had to walk down that line between "Good" & "Bad"; being constantly teased and tormented by the power of Baron Dark, but persistently reminded of his place as a member of the Steele family (The Legion of Light) & thus his duties as a young Prince to his people of Luminaire - all the whilst baring the physical & emotional scars of that moment of weakness in which he betrayed his family & his people but more importantly, himself.

The narrative potential for his character was great but sadly the 2nd Season of the cartoon, which was to explore this in greater detail, was never permitted to take place...

A combination of production mis-management on the cartoon, causing major delays in getting it to air and product mis-handling on the part of Playmates with the toyline (They waited REALLY late in the piece to release the "Good Guy" figures - apparently within months of the line's cancellation!), all conspired against a product and franchise that literally had everything going for it. :o

I reckon Skeletor, Mumm-Ra, and Baron Dark should be known as the Trinity of Evil Boneheads (well, except Mumm-Ra does have flesh over his skull).

That would be one Trio that'd definitely be considered: "Bad To The Bone!". :D:cool:
(Tried to find an advert with that tagline on it, as it was the marketing slogan used for the franchise, but was unsuccessful :o:p)

Awesome! :D - Excellent to hear man; I too love Jason and The Argonauts as those classic "Stop/Go" animation movies were brilliant and that was probably my earliest exposure to "Skeleton" warriors, next to Skeletor and the Deadites of Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness.

I reckon Baron Dark will look awesome fronting a legion of Revoltech Skeleton Warriors, you'll have to share some pics down the line. ;):)

Definitely, just gotta hope that word spreads far enough and enough people back & support the project. :o

That scale would've been awesome, but the fact anything is happening at all is a minor miracle, IMO. ;)

The Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) has had a couple of Updates (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts) and Moderately Geeky.com has a Podcast interview (http://moderatelygeeky.podbean.com/e/special-episode-11-she-touched-the-bone-dragon/#.U5J2CXQJ7fA.twitter) with George & Ayleen Gaspar of October Toys (http://octobertoys.com), discussing various point about the campaign to bring back this awesome toyline.

As well as that, Pixel Dan has been given an opportunity to show off the Baron Dark prototype (http://youtu.be/yuQ7yb3I0sM) - Highlighting many points about the figure's mold, painted details and articulation along with a great comparison with the original toy. :)
(Thanks yet again to Sharky for giving me the heads-up on this)

1st up is the "Titan Skeleton"; standing at the same 5inch height as Baron Dark, he comes in both Glow in The Dark & Plain variants -

3 Days To Go and we're currently at $32,711USD - So close yet still so far, therefore Your Help is Still Needed (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures)!

George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) & Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) have just posted another update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/883899) and this one is Even Better than the last! :D

A NEW PAIR of KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE ADDONS has been unveiled (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/883899) - The "Lightstar Crystal" Transparent Blue variants of Baron Dark and Titan Skeleton!!!
http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/e5f3dcca240311d15a5c6b20b55375f1_large_zps0b011535 .jpg

Any pledge over the $13USD level can add as many of these new Kickstarter Exclusive versions as one may want to their pledge. :)
Just add the amount below to your pledge for as many Lightstar Crystal Blue versions as you'd like;

Lightstar Crystal Blue Baron Dark - add $25USD per figure
Lightstar Crystal Blue Titan Skeleton - add $13USD per figure

E.g. If you want to add a Lightstar Crystal Blue Baron Dark and a Titan Skeleton? then just add $38USD to your current pledge. ;)

It's that easy and these variants will ONLY be available through Kickstarter; The final production colour/transparency will more closely reflect the Cosmic Wave of Glyos figures from Onell Design (http://www.onelldesign.com/) like the Cosmic Wave Exellis below:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/226c87bbaeea7da92e084172cda1792c_large_zps62605e89 .jpg

So you're asking: "What's the significance of this Lightstar Crystal Blue transparent version?"...

Well, when the all-powerful Lightstar Crystal (http://youtu.be/7vq_gCRAPf8?t=4m38s), which has protected the planet Luminaire for eons, was broken in two by Baron Dark, it exploded in a brilliant flash of light...

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/57a8c07980e9c7f9f16dc76ef052ba26_large_zpsc547ccff .jpg

...hence giving us our "Lighstar Crystal" Blue colour versions. ;):D

So check out the latest update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/883899) & Kickstarter Exclusive figure variants but remember; Get in quick! as there's just 3 days left to get in on resurrecting the dead... toyline! :D

Sweet! - Another who remembers! :D

You should checkout the Trading Card Thread (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=18832) that Sharky started dude; if you were ever to consider completing said set, I'm sure he'd be very willing to help you. ;):)

I watched the cartoon & collected the cards also, actually just received all 4 issues of the limited run of Marvel Comics based on them today! ;), but I wasn't able to complete my card collection either until about 8 or 9 years ago via eBay.

Discussing the cards with Sharky recently, I learnt that I was actually missing a couple of Promotional cards - but I'll go into more detail with those in that thread I mentioned (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=18832) when I get a chance to type up a post. :)

Yeah back in school 20yrs ago I'd forego eating lunch just to buy the cards. I even borrowed money for it lol. As nice as it would be, not interested in collecting them anymore. Transformers gets more expensive each year it seems and its hard enough to keep up with
But good luck to everyone else with an invested interest. Kickstarters just not my thing

Thanks to any and all of you who saw this thread & its posts and either backed or spread the word, you've helped make this project a success - Skeleton Warriors are Back! :D:D:D

George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) & Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) posted a quick closing update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/887897) once the pledging period had ended; mentioning that it's incredible to be able to share our collective passions for the Skeleton Warriors, as well as sincerely thanking everyone involved in the development, support & backing of the project!

They're now moving into the production of the figures and will be keeping everyone updated as to their progress, aiming to have samples ready in a few months with the finished figures hopefully arriving to everyone before the end of this year. ;):)

For now, we've been left with these photos, depicting the prototypes heading out on their journey to the San Diego Comic Convention :p:

I, and I'm sure all of you who've helped back this project too, am so incredibly excited to see the return of the Skeleton Warriors - With New & FAR superior figures in looks, presentation, articulation but most of all Playability!:D

Baron Dark and the Titan Skeletons are merely the beginning; October Toys (http://www.octobertoys.com/) are looking to produce all the characters that previously had toys, but also importantly the ones who didn't receive toys as well as producing brand new ones based on old prototypes along with others derived from the comics, trading cards and Cartoon!

So definitely stay tuned guys, there will be a lot more Skeleton Warriors headed your way; keep checking-in regularly here in this thread, as well as the Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) AND the October Toys website (http://www.octobertoys.com/) for any and all news & updates concerning the newly reawakened Skeleton Warriors toyline! ;):)

...remember: "They're Bad To The Bone! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vq_gCRAPf8&list=PLk4EFPdMalIJPw4xyPXxTFr_nBZ3jm2AM)" :D:D:D

...

Sounds about the time I was right into it too dude; seems you were quite into it at the time as well if you were willing to forego lunch and using the money, coupled with borrowings, in order to get a hold of the cards man! :D

You're not wrong though; TFs are getting more expensive as a hobby as time goes on and I too find myself having to prioritise... Helps that a lot of the stuff that Hasbro & Takara are putting out at the moment isn't really engaging (Me at least), hell, even a number of the 3rd Party offerings I find myself asking if I really want in anymore? ;)

Fair enough that Kickstarters aren't really your thing man, I've found a number of people are still somewhat dubious of it all - I DO believe that there is a good chance that pretty much everything, apart from the Traveler Skeleden & "Lighstar Crystal Blue" Exclusives, will be available at a later date and open for anyone/everyone to purchase. :)

They'd probably be slightly more expensive, though I don't believe they'd be too much more, but if/when that happens - I could drop you a PM if you'd like mate? ;), probably be a ways off though so don't feel obligated or anything.

congrats everyone who pledged looks like you hit your mark currently standing at $46666 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures)....

Indeed we did Sharky dude and what a very joyous thing (For me) it was to wake-up and see such a result! :D

Checking in every now & again to see the pledge amount slowly creep up to the final $50,140USD mark was both nail-biting and relieving all at once!:p

I'm just so happy to see that there are others here & around the world that do still have fond memories of the Skeleton Warriors franchise and that those who knew about it, got behind this "Resurrection" of sorts as well as the passionate pair who sort to give us a 2nd run-in with Baron Dark, his Skeleton minions and The Legion of Light members.

I'm so appreciative that you brought this project to my knowledge, Sharky, I'll probably never stop going on about it. :p

Happy to see this go through, did any one get the KS exclusive Baron dark or skeleton?

Hehe, bloody oath dude! :D

I went with the $93USD Reward level, but my end pledge amount ended up being $123.00USD Including postage, which will get me:

2x "Original Colour" Baron Darks
1x "Lighstar Crystal Blue" Baron Dark (Kickstarter Exclusive)
1x "Bone" Titan Skeleton
1x "Glow-in-The-Dark" Titan Skeleton
1x "Lightstar Crystal Blue" Titan Skeleton (Kickstarter Exclusive)
1x Traveler Skeleden

So I get a little taste of everything, whilst also having a spare Baron Dark that I can keep MISB & a pair of Exclusive versions of the first 2 Molds.

I love Skeletons, the Grim Reaper, Skeletor... All that sort of thing, have dug it ever since I was a kid; the bad guys in anything ALWAYS look/ed cooler than the good guys! ;)
As such, Skeleton Warriors has always resided in my memory, as it was what I thought at the time to be one of the single wickedest things outside of Transformers - Animated & Evil Skeletons! and they looked so Bad-Ass too!

I mean, just look!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Webpics/skellegion_zps7f78d489.jpg

What 8-9y/o kid can look at that sort of artwork on a Trading Card and not go: "AWESOME!!!"? :D

It's been a little while since the last update, but this week has seen 2 awesome pieces of news hit - courtesy of George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) & Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) of OctoberToys.com (http://www.octobertoys.com/)! :D

1st up (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/920954), we've got the announcement of the "Metal Weapons Pack" debuting at SDCC 2014!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/3e767e8f4495fc0cc5e2ade7e4ae31ca_large_zpsbb2986ec .jpg

The metal weapons pack consists of 3, Lead-free Cast-Pewter, versions of some of the weapons from the new Skeleton Warriors toyline:

The Skeleton Guard's Halberd.
The Skeleton Soldier's Axe.
Baron Dark's Sword.

All of which are Glyos compatible; measuring 2.25in (5.71cm) to 4.5in (11.43cm) long, they will come in a Collector's Box along with a Mini-Print of the concept art for the Skull Hammer/Slasher - which was used as inspiration for the Skeleton Soldier’s axe.

These awesome weapons will be available in limited quantities via the October Toys booth (4951) at the 2014 San-Diego Comic Convention for just $20 per set, it is intended that they will ALSO be available after the Con at a later date to be determined. ;)

Secondly (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/923118) and more importantly...

Everything is looking pretty good with these. Its a shame they didn't have some sort of unpainted weapons pack or accessories in the kickstarter as a goal straight after titan skeletons, it might of been reachable as those painted skeleton warriors seemed so far away. But nevermind, at least skeletons on their own are pretty awesome already. I will be looking forward to watching the series on dvd, and Captain Power, if they are ever released here.

I will be looking forward to watching the series on dvd, and Captain Power, if they are ever released here.

Both were released in 2012 dude, and to be honest I don't think I've seen any store locally offer them since that time. :o

The GOOD news is that both sets are DVD Region Free, meaning that regardless of what DVD player you have OR where you are in the world, they will work in your machine. ;):)
(Ignore Amazon stating that they're Region 1: United States and Canada Only, it's complete beryllium baloney :D)

Captain Power (http://www.amazon.com/Captain-Power-Complete-Series-Tim-Dunigan/dp/B005OZJE8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406697921&sr=8-1&keywords=Captain+Power) & Skeleton Warriors (http://www.amazon.com/Skeleton-Warriors--The-Complete-Series/dp/B005OZJVE2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406697877&sr=8-1&keywords=Skeleton+Warriors) can be ordered from Amazon for REALLY good prices (It's where I bought my set from) - So if that's an option, I highly recommend it Defcon.

So last Saturday I had a package arrive that contained some pretty wicked items, all the way from the OctoberToys (http://octobertoys.com/), courtesy of George! :D

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BukELDKCcAAvAwO.jpg:large

Contained within was the seriously awesome Metal Weapons Pack, along with a copy of Luc Mayrand (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0563016/)'s original Concept Art of the Battle-Axe! - which we've recently learned (http://octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13218&start=45#p304441) was an included weapon with the original Playmate's iteration of Dagger :

The production quality of these (Lead-free) Cast Pewter pieces are magnificent!, so props to the bloke who produced them but even bigger kudos has got to go to George Gaspar (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar), as the sculpts of the Halberd, Battle-Axe & the Baron's Sword are bloody brilliant! ;):)

Unfortunately, I don't presently own any 4" (1:84) Scale figures in order to model such Instruments of Destruction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTup5mT4O-Q) - So the duty fell to Playmate's "Nick-Toons: TMNT" Donnie!
(The COOLEST of the Brothers-Green I might add!)

...so although (OG) Krang may not feel the same way, :p, I on the other hand absolutely love what is the 1st pieces of Official Skeleton Warriors products in 20 years! :D - They look superb, their weighted just right and they will serve as excellent armaments for Baron Dark & the Titan Skeletons come December!

Geez it's been a while since I've updated this thread!

Okay so back in mid-late August, George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) & Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) posted Update #19 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/957021) on the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) which was predominantly a reminder for all those who backed the project to confirm their orders before August 27. :)
I hope you did just that if you're reading this and were a backer of the project! :o

What was FAR more wicked about this update however was that they posted a video (http://youtu.be/1ib7Z-JGK70) of which featured the very Maquettes that were at the October Toys SDCC 2014 booth that I posted about above!

In the video they go into further detail about the maquettes, what they were used for as well as some production history regarding them, so definitely check that drool-inducing video out here (http://youtu.be/1ib7Z-JGK70)! ;):D

More recently however, Update #20 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/996904) went up - Letting backers know that whilst things have been quiet for a while, plenty of work has been going on behind the scenes and production is on schedule with the 1st "Shots" or "Test Shots" hopefully arriving within the next couple of weeks!:cool:

These "Test Shots" will be the 1st batches of PVC Polymer to be run through the molds, allowing the October Toys team to review the details as well as the fitting of parts in order to maintain as higher standards as possible. ;):)

Once George & Ayleen have these "Test Shots" in-hand, they hope to provide pictures and a video review so look out for those when they happen! - I'll likely post links & mirror some pics here too.

In addition to the original 90s Skeleton Warriors: Colouring and Activity Book that I posted a link to above, in the proceeding time I've also come into the possession of THREE MORE!:eek::eek:

I've spent many-many hours scanning & editing each and every page of these 3 new (Old) books, all of which having a 32 page count! :p
Said scans are also posted over at the October Toys forums (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/index.php) under the Skeleton Warriors sub-forum (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=41) but for your ease and benefit, I'll provide some direct links to the relevant threads here :D:

I've also been EXTREMELY lucky and fortunate enough to come into the possession of a pair of Original 1994 Playmates: Skeleton Warriors toys, of whom both were Mint in Box and in superb condition! :D:D:D

The 1st came from a very good friend (And Collection Instigator! :p) in our very own Sharky; He decided to surprise me with Baron Dark's (Skull)Sky-Cycle vehicle!, an exceedingly unexpected but cherished surprise in which I've gone into great detail in a review that I posted over at the October Toys forums (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13427) - Huge thanks yet again dude! ;):D:cool:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bwvsqu9CUAADDHf.jpg:large

Secondly, arriving earlier in the week was a local eBay win that I didn't expect to ever come across in Australia, not for quite some time at least; Baron Dark's "Bonesteed" Warhorse is an utterly exquisite piece to behold and like with Sky-Cycle, I've just today posted a review of it over at the October Toys forums (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13470).

Too right they do dude! - In fact, why don't we share some details about them here? ;):D

On Wednesday of this week, George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) provided Update #21 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1011106) (For Backers Only) to the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) and with it came some rather productive information & photos!:D

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/BlueOTSWTestShots1_zpsfcdaf8d4.jpg

Focusing predominantly on the "Midnight" Blue Test Shot/Prototypes, which in actuality are the 2nd runs of the mold as the 1st (As seen above) were cast in a more "Cheddar-y" Yellow PVC plastic and were sent to October Toys along with the Blue by the Factory in China, one can clearly see that the new molds & sculpts are well and truly living up to the Heritage set by the original 1994 Playmates toyline. ;)
(The polymer colours of Test Shots/Prototypes often aren't expressly chosen, rather, the colours used are simply whatever happens to be in the machine at the time :p)

In the photo above, you'll notice in the Blue 2nd Test Shot (B2) the differences in the skull's shape (In profile) along with the thickness of the neck and the depth of its ball-joint's connection at the base of the skull when compared to that of the earlier Yellow 1st Test Shot (Y1).

The factory had noted these points in Y1 and, having worked with October Toys (OT) on many occasions over the past 10 years, knew exactly what George & OT were seeking in this area and made the requisite changes & modifications in B2's production - Namely, the depth of the socket in the base of the skull in Y1 was too deep and prevented the desired level of movement and was hence rectified in B2.
(The Factory knows exactly the high levels of quality that George & OT expect and are determined to meet the very best production standards :))

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/BlueOTSWTestShots2_zps533a5395.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/BlueOTSWTestShots3_zpsf3059593.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/BlueOTSWTestShots5_zps44cf02e9.jpg

On the left here you can see an "Exploded View" or Parts Breakdown of the Titan Skeleton, whom shares common parts with Baron Dark and where one can see a little more clearly the (White/Blue along Spine) Glyos System pegs designed by Matt Doherty of Onell Design (http://www.onelldesign.com/) that will allow for one to pull apart & reconnect, as well as swap & combine, the various parts that comprise the skeletons with other Glyos compatible figures such as the Four Horseman's Power Lords (http://www.shopfourhorsemen.com/powerlords.html) figures! :)
(Matt Doherty himself personally assessing each joint to ensure the very best quality Glyos System parts )

The right and middle photos give you an idea of some of the dynamic poseability that these 4" Scale OT Skeleton Warriors figures are capable of, something that is of GREAT personal interest to me as it is the sole thing that hamstrung the original '90s toyline: Playmates Toys' unhealthy penchant for pre-posing their toy's sculpts before (often) only adding a measly 5 points of articulation - NOT HERE However, no, there is a delicious 26 points on display here! :D

You may also notice that the Glyos Joint between the pelvis and upper femur (Thigh bone) of the middle photo appears to be almost breaching the wall of said area of the femur, with the white disc quite visible - This is exactly why Test Shots/Protos of figures are produced, so that issues like this can be identified and the requisite fixes can be applied as has been noted in this instance and will be corrected in-time for the 3rd Test Shot/Proto figure. ;)

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/BlueOTSWTestShots4_zps07cdd2df.jpg

So there you have it, our first look at the progress being made on the new October Toys Skeleton Warriors figures - Everything is presently on schedule and looking fantastic with all who are involved with the production of the Baron & Titan Skeletons absolutely pleased with how things are coming along. ;):)

If you have any questions concerning what you've seen in this update, or about the line in general, please don't hesitate to post them here in this thread or even join the conversation over at the October Toys forum (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13217) - I'll be happy to pass anything along to the relevant people at any rate.

More samples (Test Shots) are expected in a few weeks, so keep an eye out for the Kickstarter Update notifications and be sure to otherwise check back here as I'll ensure to reflect any new info that comes to light - Just this update alone has me chomping at the bit even harder in anticipation for the release of these figures in December!:D

The concluding info to take away from Update #21 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1011106) seeks to let us know that October Toys will have these very Test Shot figures at the upcoming Designer Con (http://www.designercon.com/) (8th & 9th of November, Pasadena/California/United States) and are encouraging anyone who can attend to head to Booth 402 in order to say Hi and to Play-Test the Protos too!

Not only that, but Owners of the Skeleton Warriors IP: Goddard Film Group, will be having an adjoining Booth to October Toys - Showcasing a heap of the Original Production Art of the Skeleton Warriors brand, along with a selection of some of the Original Merchandise from the archive too!:eek::eek:
(I am SO incredibly jealous of those who can attend this convention! :o - I'll be obsessively seeking out any and all photos & videos of this event, posting them here if & when I do! :p)

Time to take a break and let me tell you of the Adventures in the dark & murky past of the Pre/Early Internet...

Skeleton Warriors as a Brand came and went prior to the Internet's big "Boom" in the mid-late 90s, as such, there was never really a central gathering place established for fans to get together and indulge in their love for the show & toyline, nor share stories, information & pics. :(

As a result this decentralisation gave way to the permeation of rumour, whispered at the various corners of the burgeoning internet that at some point yielded some extremely tantalising tidbits and poorly executed photography.

It was this that gave rise to the knowledge of some of the unproduced Skeleton Warriors toys that had been intended to be released in the Brand's 2nd Year (Had the Cartoon not been cancelled by CBS which resulted in the Playmates Toyline also being cancelled) as well as some poorly taken photos of a catalogue that depicted said unreleased toys. :)

For nigh 15 years this was all that existed for fans to drool & dream over (I know as I was one of them :o) leaving many to ponder: "What Could've Been?" & "What Else Was There?"...

...until now! :D:D:D
(Well, if you ignore George & Ayleen's blowing the lid off of things with the acquisition of the SW license anyway! :p)

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B0CbX05CMAEOLLy.jpg:large

On Thursday (16/10/14) I received, ALL the way from England, an eBay win of which I took a gamble on due to the fact that whilst the Seller had not included any photography - They did mention in the listing: "Skeleton Warriors"!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B0CbZEjCYAExY0E.jpg:large

This "1995, Playmates Toys: Sales Rep Catalogue" is extremely special to me and a "Holy Grail" to my collection but as much as I enjoy it, I simply could not wait to share it with fellow Toy/History & Skeleton Warriors fans! :D

There were definitely some amazing things that had been intended for the 2nd Year of the Playmates Toys: Skeleton Warriors line huh? - My personal favourite would have to be (Still) that full page spread of Morgor. ;)

So whilst we're all waiting on some more news to come out regarding the October Toys (http://octobertoys.com/): Skeleton Warriors figures...

Earlier in the week I received my 1st Re-acquisition of the original Skeleton Warriors toy line, this particular character was my favourite as a kid and remains in that position 20 years later.
(Although Baron Dark & Dr. Cyborn are pretty damn close too! :D)

He's the bloke that is central to the whole Skeleton Warriors universe and wears that honour/burden as a constant reminder of his past misdeeds and future destiny...

Prince - Joshua "GRIMSKULL" Steele! :D

I'm right there with you dude in regards to the anticipation of December/January's October Toys: Skeleton Warrior Kickstarter releases ;), but also in your opinion of Playmates Toy's sculpting work on the original line. :)

Whilst their articulation implementation was often an afterthought, or non-thought :o, the sculpting of the figures by Playmates' artists were SO FAR ahead of their time in terms of a '90s Action Figure line!

I read in an interview somewhere that Todd McFarlane was actually directly inspired by the original Playmate's toyline and apparently visited the Playmates production house personally to see how they were doing what they were doing, because every other industry rep were telling him that what he wanted to do with his own McFarlane brand toylines was impossible. :D

So in lieu of any recent new news from OT...

The Official Skeleton Warriors website (http://www.skeletonwarriors.tv/) has posted 3 rather cool updates over the past fortnight or so, beginning with:

Promoting the Goddard Film Group's attendance at this years DesignerCon (http://www.skeletonwarriors.tv/skeleton-warriors-flashback-playmates-commercial-1994/); the site's Blog has also included a pair of awesome advertising pieces from the original '90s Playmates Toys: Skeleton Warriors toyline, in the form of both a Print Ad AND an Original TV Commercial (http://vimeo.com/108948557)!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B1PnzHlCMAAOVjU.jpg:large

Next (http://www.skeletonwarriors.tv/shadowland-magazine-celebrates-skeleton-warriors-20th-anniversary/), we've got the announcement that Shadowland Magazine (http://www.shadowlandmagazine.com/)'s November/December Issue will be featuring an in-depth article on the 20 year history AND future of the Skeleton Warriors brand; featuring a retrospective look at the Cartoon series and Production line, as well as interviews with the brand creator Gary Goddard, Roger Lay Jr. of the Goddard Film Group and none other than George & Ayleen Gaspar of October Toys! :D

This issue, which I WANT SOMETHING FIERCE! :p, will also feature an exclusive painted cover of The Baron himself, as rendered by Dwayne Pinkney (http://shadowlandmagazineco.fatcow.com/cover-artist.html)!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B1PdVJxCIAEqV25.png:large

...Finally (http://www.skeletonwarriors.tv/skeleton-warriors-coming-to-hulu-in-2015/), we've got the superb announcement that the Goddard Film Group will be bringing the entire Original Skeleton Warriors Cartoon Series to HULU (http://www.hulu.com/) in 2015!
(HULU is sadly UNAVAILABLE to Australians :(, without the use of a VPN ;))

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B1PgjIXCYAITM3W.jpg:large

Some pretty damn cool things to look forward to in the very near future; I can't wait to see the coverage of both OT's & GFG's booths at DesignerCon 2014 (http://www.designercon.com/) and to see what announcements (If any ;)) are made, as well as getting my hands on that Shadowland Magazine issue! :D

...but remember not to forget to:

So with DesignerCon 2014 (http://www.designercon.com/) having been and gone (November 8th & 9th) now, I've been scouring the web for any and all coverage that I could find - This has included Blogs, Websites, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube!:p
I don't use or have access to Facebook, so there's a major untapped source unfortunately :o, but in saying that the best coverage I've been able to source was via the Official Skeleton Warriors Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Skeleton-Warriors/211771518833072) page itself! :D

I'm unsure who from the Goddard Film Group uploaded this particular batch of shots and information, be it Roger Lay Jr., Eric Carnagey or Alex Towe, but it doesn't matter really as the blokes who represented the Goddard Film Group & presented the Skeleton Warriors, have given us our best look at Booth #404.

Below you'll see a host of the original Maquettes and Prototypes of the various Skeleton Warriors characters that were used for the conceptualising of the brand as well as toy development:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/GoddardFilmGroupBooth404-MaquetteDisplay_zps26217c78.jpg

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/MorgorTheBoneDragon-Maquette_zps1ba5b8a4.jpg

The booth also sported a visual display that I understand played a number of video packages of promotional material for Skeleton Warriors, both past and present, as well as Captain Power!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/GoddardFilmGroupBooth404-DVDDisplay_zpsd2129bea.jpg

George also passed along whilst he was at the Con that the "Developing Creator Owned Properties with Goddard Film Group" Panel which featured Roger Lay Jr. (Executive in Charge of Production) & Eric Carnagey (Executive in Charge of Development) of the Goddard Film Group and George & Ayleen Gaspar of October Toys in which celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Skeleton Warriors, dubbed the upcoming Glyos-Compatible figures by OT as the "Official 20th Anniversary Collectors Toyline" and also mentioned upcoming news regarding Captain Power, has indeed been recorded although at this time it is unknown exactly when that recording will make its way online for public viewing - so stay tuned for that one as you can bet that I'll be posting it here. ;)

Here's the flyer that was used by the Goddard Film Group at DesignerCon 2014, detailing what one could find at their Booth (#404):

Action Figure Insider took over 400 photos (http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/designercon-2014-pictures-in-afi-gallery/) of the various Booths at DesignerCon 2014 and here's the shots they took of the Goddard Film Group display, manned (As I learnt) by Andy Towe:

So there you have it, that is what I've managed to find in terms of coverage of the Skeleton Warriors' presence at DCon 2014 - It was also brought to our attention by Mindless-Focus over at the October Toys forums (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13217&start=435#p309547), however, that OT had received their 1st couple of new Test Shots (Since the previous Blue & Yellow ones) of Baron Dark & the Titan Skeleton during the weekend of the Convention and had them brought to the show to be on display :):
(I believe the "Lighter" coloured Titan Skeleton standing in the mid-ground of the shot is the new Test Shot ;))

...and here's another shot of that stunning Kickstarter Exclusive (10 Piece), 15" tall, Baron Dark resin statue sculpted by Owen Oertling :

I'll continue to scour the web for any little tidbit I can find, but I hope you'll find some enjoyment of the pics and info that I've managed to cobble together here anyway. ;)

I, like I'm sure many of you, are looking forward to some more info becoming available regarding the current state of the OT: SW figures, how they went over at DesignerCon especially with attendees, as well as when the "Developing Creator Owned Properties with Goddard Film Group" Panel recording being made available to the greater public. :)

In the meantime however, checkout these recent YouTube videos featuring the Skeleton Warriors!:D

Time for another quick update! :)

So yesterday October Toys (http://octobertoys.com/) posted Update No.22 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1072945) to the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures), carrying some good news and some slightly less than good (But nothing bad) news. ;)

Firstly, progress with the Titan & Baron figures continues to be smooth with the intention to have final samples available so as to be shared with us in the next couple of weeks.

Some revisions have been made to both the Baron's and Titan's shoulder joint implementation, in that the original intention was to employ Mini-Glybrid joints but with some tinkering, they've been able to utilise regular Glyos joints instead which basically means there will be greater interchangeability with other Glyos-compatible lines.:D

The downside to this however, is that the December delivery date has had to be pushed back to sometime in January. :o
Although this may sound bad, in reality minor delays happen all the time in the production of toys and really, if it means that we'll get a superior product at the end of the day - isn't that worth waiting an extra month? ;)

Once the final samples are in George & Ayleen's expert & capable hands, hopefully they'll swiftly get their thoughts out and some photos in the next Kickstarter update as I know I'm grinding my teeth in anticipation to get these things in-hand and will need something juicy to tide me over for another month so and no doubt you guys will be feeling much the same! :p

In the meantime however, I've had a couple of Skeleton Warriors related acquisitions that I intend on sharing my thoughts on in the next week sometime; Including a new (Old) figure from the original Playmates Toys line, as well as this which arrived just days ago!:eek::eek:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B4Dozt5CUAEmZia.jpg:large

...so keep an eye out for that and remember meatbags! :p

Sorry guys, I've been meaning to do a couple of updates to this thread for over a month now, just keep getting side-tracked or haven't been in the zone when I've had the time spare. :(

I hope to have a sizeable update posted by the week's end - Things are coming along brilliantly with these, only a month 'til they're in-hand! :D

Righto guys, get ready to read one lengthy post! :D

Okay, so back on January 1st 2015 we received Update #23 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1097038); This was our look at the 1st Painted Prototype & "Lightstar Crystal" Kickstarter Exclusive variant of Baron Dark, as well as the Bone-coloured Titan Skeleton, straight from the factory!

Apart from the odd issue with some of the paint apps, I've taken to calling the Painted Baron Dark: "Baron Derp" :p, mold-wise these are spot-on perfect but I'll let these photos speak for themselves:

(Painted) Baron Dark "Derp" Prototype:

...

Earlier in December of 2014 however, as I mentioned here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=447299#post447299), Shadowland Magazine put out their 10th issue with, a WICKED Baron Dark cover , as well as an article looking at the Past, Present AND Future of the Skeleton Warriors. ;):)

I was utterly enthralled throughout all 18 pages of "The Continuing Tales of The Skeleton Warriors" article, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the brand - and I very much would like to congratulate Frank Warden and everyone else involved on the truly awesome piece they managed to achieve, an incredible effort! :)

From the opening to the "Boneyard Tales", "Behind The Bones" and "Legacy of The Skeleton Warriors" segments; The recount of who/what "Skeleton Warriors" is as well as the brand and cartoon's development, was both informed and impassioned - setting the tone for the rest of the article. ;)

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B4Dozt5CUAEmZia.jpg:large

The interviews with Gary Goddard and George & Ayleen Gaspar are very elaborative and offer great insight into just who each of them are, where/what they're experience and expertise are and where they're drawn from, as well as being rather tantalising in what may lay ahead with the 20th Anniversary (Glyos Compatible) Skeleton Warriors toy line.:D

Roger Lay Jr.'s piece was excruciatingly excitement-inducing! - Just what is on the cards for the brand in both the near and medium-term future for the Skeleton Warriors brand has me literally giddy in expectation. Seriously. :D:cool:

I highly recommend that if you haven't already, pick up yourself a copy of this magazine (http://www.shadowlandmagazine.com/) as it's also PACKED with really interesting articles on the Australian produced Ultraman series, looking back at 30 years of A Nightmare on Elm Street, along with a heap of interesting news tidbits to do with the world of Sci-fi, Horror & Fantasy media! ;):)

...

Also during the month of December, after putting it off for almost a good 2 months prior, I put together and completed my review on the original 1994 Playmates Toys iteration of the Baron Dark (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13892) figure. :)

This review wasn't something I was honestly looking forward to, as although I had owned the figure in my childhood and knew what to expect, I wasn't impressed with it after removing it from its 20 year imprisonment - This was exacerbated when I tried to get the Baron to interact with his 2 major accessories: The (Skull)Sky-Cycle (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13427) and "Bonesteed" Warhorse (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13470). :(

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B1uYnCyCMAAGX4o.jpg:large

Checkout my thoughts of the original Baron Dark toy over here at the October Toys forum (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13892), and let me know what you think - Whether you agree/disagree with me and what your feelings of the figure are.

...

Finally, on January 27th 2015, George & Ayleen shared Kickstarter Update #24 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1117939) - Which carried some good & bad news.

I'll get the bad news out of the way 1st up, as it isn't really all that bad anyway. ;)

The shipment of all the Glyos Compatible Skeleton Warriors figures from the Factory to October Toys has been further delayed from late January to Late February/Early March - At which point they will be immediately shipped out to Backers. :o

Onto the Good news! :D

The final Prototypes, as well as for the 1st time the Baron Dark Packaging Sample, has been shown off and they look AMAZING!:eek::eek:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/FinalProductSample-BoxedBaronDark01_zps87ca9d7c.jpg

There are 1 or 2 minor adjustments that are being made to the final packaging, namely logo & text positioning, but otherwise this is what we will all be receiving with our regular painted Baron Dark figures (All other figures will be bagged) and I think it is going to be bloody hard not to want to keep this MISB! :p:D

Shown off too was the Titan Skeletons in all their varying guises!

These look absolutely incredible and I believe this is the 1st time we've been shown the GiTD Titan Skeleton too; I wish I had had more money at the time of the Kickstarter, as although I am getting one of each figure on offer, looking at these pictures make me REALLY want to army build these guys! - Good thing that most, if not all, of these figures will be offered via the October Toys Shop (http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCYQjBAwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Foctobertoys.com%2Fshop%2F&ei=P5fVVPqdD8bsmAX0gIGIBg&usg=AFQjCNF5hakhEXr_-WzWxwd_t6Z04SJgrA&bvm=bv.85464276,d.dGY) at a later & to be determined date. ;):)

In the meantime however...

George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar), Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) & October Toys (http://www.octobertoys.com) have updated the Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/description) with Update #25 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1140229), detailing the latest status of the Backer Incentive figure: The Glyos Traveller Skeleden!:D:cool:

As a refresh to all our memories, here's the promotional picture of the original concept prototype figure of the Traveller Skeleden used in the Kickstarter campaign:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/FinalProto-TravellerSkeleden00_zpsba28698c.jpg~original

If you're unfamiliar with who the "Travellers" are, with relation to the Glyos universe (http://onelldesign.blogspot.com/) (Much like I was :p), this YouTube video by Internet Personality: Vangelus (http://youtu.be/zMh-qWyeZIg) does an excellent job of providing a brief rundown of who & what the Travellers are, along with their story and variants as well as a breakdown of how the figures work. :)

If that video wets your appetite or catches your curiosity at all for the Glyos Joint System, this video series by YouTube Reviewer: TJOmega (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOgHY2nZ0UygGH89e6lsyuImi5AdL6Ubr) serves as an excellent encyclopaedic guide as to what the Glyos system of toys is, what it's capable of and the absolutely expansive range of Glyos-compatible toys that are available.
I highly recommend everyone watches this series so as to gain a good understanding of the engineering side of the Glyos Joint System and how it applies to both the Traveller Skeleden AND October Toy's Baron Dark & Skeleton Warriors, but be warned; it could end up being a BIG rabbit hole for some people! :p:D

Now back to Skeleden. ;)

The basic premise behind the Skeleden (Who's been produced in heavy collaboration between George Gaspar & Matt Doughty (http://www.poeghostal.com/2010/06/interview-matt-doughty-of-onell-design-part-i-onell.html) of Onell Design (http://www.onelldesign.com/)) is that he is a Space "Traveller" Pheyden that, through some series of circumstances intentional or unfortunate, has found himself in the dimension of the Skeleton Warriors and runs into Baron Dark who wastes little time in "Skeletonising" him - The end result being his visage going from this:

To THIS! :eek::

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/FinalProto-TravellerSkeleden01_zps45c87422.png~original

The above (& below) photo is of the two present final prototypes of the Skeleden, showing its form and detailing of which you can clearly see is copious on this little 2.75"/6.35cm figure indeed, but...

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/FinalProto-TravellerSkeleden02_zpsfa825dee.png~original

...these ARE NOT representative of the final colours for this Kickstarter Exclusive introductory Traveller Skeleden ;), those photos of the final coloured version should be arriving in the next couple of days!:D

I've got to be honest, the Traveller Skeleden will be my 1st interaction with the main Glyos line of figures and I'm thoroughly excited to get a 1st hand feel for it aside from the Main Event/Attraction of the Skeleton Warriors and Baron Dark, as these are independently designed and produced toys backed by small (Often VERY small, i.e. 1 or 2 family members or friends) groups who simply don't have the resources of big toy manufacturers and this is something I've grown an appreciation of as an extension from the 3rd Party/Unofficial niche of the Transformers collection scene and am considering getting further into, for many reasons. :)

So I hope this update has been an interesting one and that if you backed the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter to the level that permitted your future acquisition of the Traveller Skeleden, that it's also been informative and excitement inducing for what is only a matter of weeks away from arriving in our hands! :D

For those who have a general interest in Toys and Skeletons; another independent toy company, that many might know of due to their recently released Gothitropolis: Ravens (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fourhorsemen/gothitropolis-raven-action-figure-by-four-horsemen) line of figures ;), who go by the name of The Four Horsemen (http://www.sourcehorsemen.com/), has recently in the last fortnight commenced their latest Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fourhorsemen/mythic-legions-action-figures-by-four-horsemen-stu) for their new line of 6" scale, fully articulated Action Figures - Mythic Legions (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fourhorsemen/mythic-legions-action-figures-by-four-horsemen-stu)! ;)

Definitely consider checking that one out too, I did and have backed them to the tune of $80.00 USD/$101.00 AUD which will net me, shipped to my door in *March/April 2016, the following:

Here we go guys, Update #26 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1145044) from the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures) is here! :D

As I mentioned in my previous post, this latest update specifically revolves around the Kickstarter Exclusive: "Luminaire" Edition of the Traveller Skeleden and H-O-L-Y CRAP! does it looks Awesome!:D

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Final%20-%20Luminaire%20Traveller%20Skeleden%2003_zpsnm7kmo uh.png~original

This is the final version of the "Luminaire" Skeleden and is what everybody will be receiving if they backed the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter to the requisite pledge level.

From some notes supplied by Onell Design:

"The purple PVC and paint is based on Baron Dark's purple parts (and pays homage to the October Toys purple hue), and the Skeleden armor matches the Titan Skeletons and Baron Dark bone colored base plastic".

I personally LOVE that "Cadbury Chocolate"-esque hue of Purple used, a bit of bias may be creeping in given my 2nd favourite colour IS Purple :p, coupled with the Off-White Bone colour is such an eye-catching palette combination.

Speaking of eyes; the Ruby/Crimson Red used on Skeleden is rather striking and I'm particularly impressed by his right-hand eye, as it's small & beady and pays direct homage to that of each of the Skeletons from Skeleton Warriors, right down to the cartoonish light reflections on both eyes - rendered by tiny white paint apps.

What's even more exciting, is the surprise inclusion of extra parts that'll come with "Luminaire" Skeleden! - As Onell Design goes on to say:

"Each Skeleden comes with an extra Traveler Pheyden head, two extra Traveler upper arms and two extra Traveler upper thighs so that you can convert Skeleden into the original Traveler form".

Allowing one to create the Skeleden's pre-"Luminaire"/regular state, which looks like this:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Final%20-%20Luminaire%20Traveller%20Skeleden%2002%20Pheyden _zpshfma3tvm.png~original

That's a REALLY cool, unexpected additional inclusion and allows for, those of us who've never handled Glyos figures before especially, a chance to experience the modular/Lego-esque play pattern of these figures & joint system! ;):)
(..and for some the potential final push required to fall down that Glyos rabbit-hole! :p:D)

The final version of the Traveller Skeleden figure will possess 23 individual parts and has taken a full year to reach this completed design; details of which Matt Doughty (http://www.poeghostal.com/2010/06/interview-matt-doughty-of-onell-design-part-i-onell.html) is sharing via the Onell Design blog (http://onelldesign.blogspot.com/), so if you're at all curious or interested? - Definitely check that link out as there is a lot more involved in the production of these 2.75in/6.35cm tall figures than I certainly expected.

It should also be noted that the "Regular" state Skeleden will be a major part of the Glyos stories, that are behind these toys, going forward and is featured in a Browser-based game called: "Dungeon Traveller" of which you can also checkout after this link (http://dungeontraveler.com/).:cool:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Final%20-%20Luminaire%20Traveller%20Skeleden%2001_zpszm0gmz iq.png~original

George & Ayleen also mention in Update #26 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1145044) that the ship carrying all of the Skeleton Warriors figures is presently at the mid-way point of its journey from China to the US, so with all hope the Gods of the American Docks will shine favourably upon the shipment and will see it pass swiftly onto October Toys (http://www.octobertoys.com/), ready for them to disperse across the globe! :D:D:D

The "March of The Skeletons" is upon us! ;)

So check in regularly to the Onell Design blog (http://onelldesign.blogspot.com/) for upcoming Glyos figure releases, including Traveller Skeleden variants, and as I always say:

Hey guys! :D

Popping in with an update on the status of the October Toys: Skeleton Warriors - Baron Dark, Titan Skeleton & Traveller Skeleden figures! :)

Rather annoyingly, the West Coast shipping Docks of the United States are currently suffering major backlogs (http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnbc.com%2Fid%2F102446078&ei=CI8DVc76IIOd8QXbi4KYAg&usg=AFQjCNG5ADtkxwizXAPbFf2SQoNK8OngmQ&bvm=bv.88198703,d.dGc&cad=rja) in the processing of shipments, due to a series of strikes (http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCIQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.usatoday.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2 F2015%2F02%2F20%2Fwest-coast-ports-dispute-union-labor-secretary-tom-perez%2F23744299%2F&ei=co8DVd7cMYif8QXH3YKgAQ&usg=AFQjCNEEdzJ-9XdrRNjJSjcCCap5M-TGbA), which has meant that the Kickstarter shipment that George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) & Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) have been waiting to receive (In order to send out to us) has been significantly delayed. :(

They, like us, are presently waiting to hear word of where in the cycle of processing, through the docks to customs, said shipment is and promise to impart as much info as they can as soon as they themselves receive it - They're every bit as frustrated as we are. :o

The "March of The Skeletons" must hold a little longer...

AWESOME NEWS Everyone!:D:eek::D:eek::D ...and a VERY IMPORTANT Update Too! ;)

George & Ayleen have just passed along word that the Skeleton Warriors shipment has arrived State-side, has gone through the Docks and is presently with Customs  - They've also been charged to have the shipment sent to their business address! :p

Whilst this is excellent news, George has expressed his aggravation with this part of the process as he's explained that it's always the slowest part of Toy production, but also due to the strikes he's even more frustrated because it's meant that this has been his first late delivery of a Kickstarter project out of 6 successful ones. :o

George & Ayleen hope backers will understand and wish everyone to know that they'll be working doubly hard to get everyone's order out to them as fast as humanly possible - They need your cooperation though...

A Very Important Update, No. 28 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1172338), is a backer-only update and requires all backers to log-in to their Kickstarter accounts (https://www.kickstarter.com/login?ref=nav) and complete a final shipping address Survey:

Hello all!

Surveys have now been sent to everyone to collect current shipping address information.

Please respond to them no later than March 29th. If you respond later than that date it will delay the shipment of your rewards.

We have been hearing that people are having trouble logging back in to trycelery.com to change addresses, so do not worry about that, just fill in the current survey sent here on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/login?ref=nav) and we will cross reference the celery accounts to make sure we have your up to date address with your order.

If you didn't get an email about a survey being sent, don't worry, just log into your kickstarter account (https://www.kickstarter.com/login?ref=nav) and a banner will pop up along the top of the screen notifying you that you have a survey to complete. Just click that banner and complete the survey.

PLEASE RESPOND TO THE KICKSTARTER SURVEY BY MARCH 29th!

Thanks everyone!! We are getting so close to wrapping this up!

George and Ayleen

George went on to add further information regarding said surveys:

...EVERYONE - PLEASE READ!

The Kickstarter survey only has the info for your REWARD PLEDGE LEVEL. It does NOT know what you added on here or through celery. it is an automated survey, just plugs in your chosen pledge level. We just need your address information in the survey, just fill it in.

When we are ready to ship we will be checking your kickstarter survey current address against your final order on the celery site from way back when those were filled in.

From this information we will have your up to date address and your up to date order all together. if at that time there are any questions, we will contact YOU.

Thanks!!

So if YOU were a backer of the (Glyos-Compatible) Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter Project, log into your Kickstarter account (https://www.kickstarter.com/login?ref=nav) and confirm your current shipping information by filling out the survey BEFORE MARCH 29. ;):)

The Baron and his hoard of Titan Skeletons & Traveller Skeledens are almost upon us people - I'm bloody excited, are you!?! :D:D:D

I could definitely video tape it, but I'm visually less excitable as my typing may let on. :o:p

I might consider it though, it'd be a laugh I guess but to those who've not seen my face before, you might want to have a crucifix handy! :p:D

You're a lucky bloody devil dude, I've not got a notice yet but I've waited this long - what's a little longer eh? ;)

Please do post some photos in the thread of when your package arrives, I'm looking forward to the thoughts of others on these things just as much as receiving my own figure. :)

...

So George (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar) & Ayleen (https://twitter.com/AyleenGaspar) have posted Update No. 30 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1188664) to the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures), entitled: "It's Baron Dark Day!".:eek::eek:

It has been 9 months & 13 days since the "Skeleton Warriors: Glyos Compatible - Action Figures" Kickstarter Project concluded as being successfully funded, having been initially aimed for a December 2014 Release/Shipping date. :)

That was initially pushed back to January 2015 as a result of further design refinements (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=447299#post447299) to Baron Dark & the Titan Skeleton figure's shoulder regions.
Then the shipment was delayed to late February/early March because of Factory schedules & holidays (The shipment reaching its transitory midway point in the Pacific Ocean circa 24th of February). ;)
...and then it was once more delayed to mid/late March as a result of the United States' West Coast - Docking Unions strikes (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=462518#post462518)! :o

It has finally come to April 4th 2015 that the entire Kickstarter shipment has progressed through the backlog at said docks and passed through customs to arrive at October Toys (http://octobertoys.com/) HQ! :D

You can see why I think there is a degree of relief behind this joyous smile of George Gaspar as he's packing Pledge Rewards. :p

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/SW%20Shipment%20Hits%20October%20Toys_zps4it2xiak. jpg

The team at October Toys are extremely elated to let everyone know that they are presently in the process of organising and dispatching their "...fabulous Kickstarter supporters" pledge rewards and are aiming to have most if not everyone's packages shipped out by the end of this week!:D

They go on to say:

There are no words to express how incredible it has been to work on this project with the fantastic team at Goddard Film Group (Roger Lay Jr. & Eric Carnagey), the mad geniuses at Onell Design (Matt Doughty & Marc Beaudette), and all of our friends, family, and supporters.

From the bottom of our heartstones - thank you!

We sincerely hope you enjoy these new Baron Dark and the Titan Skeleton figures as much as we do!

George then tweeted (https://twitter.com/GeorgeGaspar/status/584432131352342528), just on 12 hours ago ;), this photo:

Before ending Update No. 30, we're reminded that...

"This Is Only The Beginning!"

"Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the revealing of just who will be the next entrant into the 20th Anniversary: (Glyos Compatible) Skeleton Warriors toyline - You never know what might be lurking in the Shadows..."

Well, I'm bloody excited to be very soon receiving my Pledge Reward and you can damn expect that I'll be reviewing & photographing every one of the following:

Baron Dark
Baron Dark: "Lightstar Crystal Blue" Kickstarter Exclusive Variant
Titan Skeleton
Titan Skeleton: "Glow in The Dark" Variant
Titan Skeleton: "Lightstar Crystal Blue" Kickstarter Exclusive Variant
Traveller Skeleden: "Luminaire Edition" Kickstarter Exclusive Variant

...and I thoroughly implore any and all reading this to please chime in with your thoughts and photos in the thread too, let's see what shenanigans a bunch of toy skeletons can get up to! :p

Also as a reminder, as the timing seems rather poignant ;), if you weren't able to to get in on the initial Kickstarter for any of what I've listed above, remember that (Excluding the Exclusive variants) you can preorder the Regular Baron Dark figure RIGHT NOW via Big Bad Toy Store (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=OCT10003&mode=retail) for $29.99(USD) + Shipping:

In the coming weeks there's going to be plenty of photos & news coming, some reviews and any & all details regarding the future availability of this first batch of modern Skeleton Warriors figures - "Who?", "When?" & "How Much?" plus much more! ;)

...I tell you, it's not making my own wait any easier, especially given my tracking last had my rewards in Perth... 4 BLOODY DAYS AGO!!! -> Yay AusPost...:rolleyes:

Speaking of tracking, there have been a large number of instances where people have not yet received a shipping notice but have had their rewards arrive; The shipping notices and tracking are automatically generated by the USPS service that October Toys uses and they're asking all Backers to keep checking their email as their notices may not have arrived yet or could have been placed in their spam folder, it should also be noted that some Spam Filters may block the email entirely and if you didn't provide you email address in the Kickstarter Survey then you wont receive a shipping notice at all. :o
(There are presently 14 people who've failed to fill out their KS Survey, as a result their rewards can't even be shipped to them (Let alone a shipping notice) until they've completed it :()

Reading the comments (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/comments) being made from those who've received their rewards, along with the first Video Review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6KFAajf2NY) to be posted on YouTube :), it is very clear that these initial entries into the "20th Anniversary" Skeleton Warriors toy line have met peoples' expectations and in a great many instances, even exceeded them!

It's with this in-mind that I'd like to pass along the news of just who is going to be the focus of the 2nd Kickstarter...

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/0_zpsleh8tjsc.jpg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eLmQbSoZ0UI)

...in Episode 351 of Toy Break (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eLmQbSoZ0UI) (October Toys' weekly Toy News show :)), not only do we get to meet the person who undertook the Pain Master Prototype of OT's Baron Dark: Michael Cowart (http://mcowart.wix.com/protopaint), but also that...

The next Kickstarter character/figure has been revealed to be none other than:
Prince Joshua "[U]Grimskull" Steele of the Legion of Light!:D:cool:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/20150406_152200_zpsak8sjici.jpg

I'm personally REALLY excited for this, as Grimskull is my favourite character from the property and there is great potential for a Glyos-compatible, 20th Anniversary figure. ;)

There was quite a bit of discussion going on in the "Speculation Thread (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14120&sid=e6aa49908f418e353ec74f2a6fb28cb2)" over at the October Toys forums (Of which you can read my typically essay-length post on the subject :p), many of whom guessed correctly but interestingly most participants were in favour of Grimskull being next in line - Much to my delight. :D

Some key points from the thread were:

Should the new Grimskull figure's colour-scheme follow that of his media appearances, Blue, or his original Maquette/Playmates Toys' palette of Black? (Likely to be a combination of the 2 ;))
Will Grimskull's wolf companion, Stalker, be included at all and should he be an "Addon" or "Stretch Goal"?
Is there interest in a Pre-Grimskull, Prince Joshua swappable head?

Precious little detail is known about the upcoming Grimskull figure beyond his name and size, which he will be smaller than Baron dark owing to the line's 1:18 Scale - So Grimskull will likely come to just under Baron Dark's chin, as the Baron is somewhat of a giant. ;):D

The 2nd Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter for Grimskull is likely to take place sometime around June, though at this point that's just a speculative date - I'll of course keep this thread updated with any and all information I'm able to come across. :)

Whilst waiting to receive my own glorious loot of modern Skeleton Warriors figures, I managed to come across a bloke who just happened to have all of the remaining '90s Original Playmates Toys: Skeleton Warriors figures I needed to complete my collection!:D

We worked on a deal, as he was selling a full set but I only needed 5 out of the 10 items he had on offer, but he was very accommodating and within 2 days of initial contact, I had a sizeable box of Vintage Toy goodness on my door step! :D:D:D

I can't tell you how pleased I am to now finally, after 20 odd years, own the entire released range of original Skeleton Warriors figures considering several I've never owned before, but Dr. Cyborn, Prince Justin "Lightstar" Steele, Shriek & Crossbone, Uncle Ursak "The Guardian" Steele and Aracula will all at some point in time receive a full compliment of photos and a review each down the track and I look forward to mucking around with each of them. ;)

Before I get to them however, there is one Toad-like Skeletal Saboteur & Mechanic that I owe a review and photoset of - By this time next week you'll all be able to get a glimpse of the Baron's severe Scoliosis & Kyphosis-suffering lacky: Dagger!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Pro-Shot%20Photos/DSCI1049_zpsue1iu25h.jpg

Look out for that! :)

Just Released Today!!! :eek::eek::eek:

I can't believe it! - The above figures were made available on the October Toys store less than 24 hours ago and the Bone-coloured Titan Skeletons are already sold out!
I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing; bad if you were waiting to pick one up having missed out on the Kickstarter, good if you managed to get one before they all sold or are a stakeholder or fan of the brand in general?... :o:p

GET IN QUICK! before all of the above figures & accessories are gone from the October Toys store (http://octobertoys.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6)!
If you'd rather pop a Baron Dark figure into your POL? - Don't forget that he's also Now Available via BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=OCT10003&mode=retail), at a slightly higher price though. :o
(Best go directly to the source, October Toys! ;))

Okay, that's it from me now until my elusive package arrives; Plenty of thoughts & pictures will be posted at which point and in between I'll pop the odd "Classic" figure review in. ;):)

I'll part with a few more incredible photos of these new "Bad to The Bone" Skeleton Warriors figures, but always, remember...

Awesome! - Glad yours arrived safely too; Post photos! :D

Weapons-wise I had the Metal Weapons 3-Pack to-hand but it seems at the moment people are just using weapons from other lines that are "1:18"/"3.75"/"G.I. Joe" sized. ;)
I've found some of the Marvel Universe figure's weapons work alright, so too modern Thundercats stuff. :)

Might have to wait and see if October Toys will do a Weapons Pack as part of Grimskull's upcoming Kickstarter?

(Though I am in no way, shape or form part of October Toys or the Goddard Film Group) I can definitely say that Grimskull is well into development and I'm looking forward to HIS Kickstarter Campaign just as much as everyone else, probably a little bit more seeing as he's my favourite character. ;):D

Sorry guys, I've just been too busy to do a proper write-up for the 20th Anniversary: Skeleton Warriors figures by October Toys and it has really bothered me lately as well. :(

The figures are often never too far away from me and when I do have time to muck around with them, they're hard to put down long enough to actually start writing about them! :o:p

In the meantime however, here is a bunch of photos I've taken showcasing Baron Dark & his Titan Skeleton minions in their new home of Castle Dark! :D:cool:

Hey guys!

Just wanted to pass along the news from October Toys at this year's San Diego Comic Con (2015), because I was bloody-well chuffed with what was revealed!:D

Firstly, this was the 1st year that the successfully Kickstarted (2014), 20th Anniversary - Skeleton Warriors action figures were available for purchase at the Convention. :)
Baron Dark, the "Bone" & "Glow in The Dark" Titan Skeletons were there, along with a Brand New variant!

Just prior to heading off to SDCC, George & Ayleen unveiled (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-glyos-compatible-action-figures/posts/1285167) the "Deluxe" Bone Titan Skeleton!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJN8l5XUYAAYGSY.jpg:large

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJN8mDtVAAA2z1p.jpg

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJN8mKmUcAEZ7sF.jpg

The colour is a little washed out in those photos, but basically, the "Deluxe" variant of the "Bone" Titan Skeleton has had the same wash that is applied to Baron Dark, bringing out all the sculpted details in the bones and looking fairly cool! :)

As mentioned in the latest Toy Break (http://www.toybreak.com/episodes/361/index.php) episode, this version was intended to be included in last year's Kickstarter, but unfortunately was just unable to be appropriately priced into the production budget. :o

A VERY limited quantity of these "Deluxe" figures will be available via the October Toys Webstore (http://www.octobertoys.com/shop/) RIGHT NOW! - So hit that link if you'd like to add one to your collection. ;)

Very cool, very cool indeed - BUT!

Unveiled at SDCC 2015 was the character who will be the focus of the next Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter (Aiming for late July/Early August 2015)...

Behold! - The Paint Master Prototype of Prince Joshua "GRIMSKULL" Steele!!!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJ3rVIXUMAAwHSG.jpg:large

I've been looking forward to this unveiling/announcement since the end of the previous Kickstarter, I mean - Just look at this display and how badass he looks!:D

More info is coming once George & Ayleen get back from San Diego, in the meantime however; SinChicken & AutoDecep of the October Toys forums (http://www.octobertoys.com/forum/index.php) brought to attention a pair of Video Interviews with George & Ayleen from the floor at SDCC! :)

Just 'Click' on the requisite images below to view said interviews; both have a heap of exciting details on Grimskull and the upcoming Kickstarter Campaign (Again, aimed for a Late July/Early August start date), as well as teasers for other projects and events occuring with the Skeleton Warriors brand in the coming months!:D

Just glad I was able to get the word out to you and others in time, gotta grab them whilst you can! :D

"Bluey" really is gorgeous in-hand, but unfortunately they were Kickstarter exclusives - That said, don't be too surprised if, in the not too distant future, more colour variants are made available outside of Kickstarter. :)

Even if one isn't a fan of Skeleton Warriors specifically, these Titan Skeleton are indeed awesome and a lot of fun - Great value for money. ;)

Well, they were limited to 2x per person and they've all sold out now - Bloody hell those didn't last long! They intend on producing more at some point though, apparently, probably around the next Kickstarter I imagine. ;)

$5 on top of the regular $10 asking price isn't too much, I think; what does suck is the crappy value of the Aussie Dollar. :(

Baron Darks, Bone & Glow in The Dark Titans left, along with Zippier-Pulls and Metal Weapon Packs are still available though. :)

Man time just keeps kicking along doesn't it?

I've not heard any word as to what's happening with the next Kickstarter yet, given that August is almost over, I assume there must be something that's pushed the touted "Late July/Early August" dates back - Just have to keep waiting I guess.:(

Whilst we're all having to wait, here's a couple of photos I took last weekend in trying to organise a new photography setup (and shooting some recently acquired TFs ;)):

The 1st is the "Deluxe" Limited Release - "Pit Lurker" Titan Skeleton by Onell Design (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB4QFjAAahUKEwitpJP1p7zHAhVGppQKHfgYClY&url=http%3A%2F%2Fonelldesign.com%2F&ei=JDjYVa2CBsbM0gT4saiwBQ&usg=AFQjCNEhvFhw7Zdcs1qI7FaF0j5gUwwd4A), as part of their 8th Anniversary celebration of the Glyos Joint System and Toys (http://onelldesign.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/mission-details.html), accompanied by an awesome little Glyos figure called a Crayboth! :D:cool:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/2015%20Acquisitions/AUG-17-15%20-%2028a_zpsw7d3cbw5.jpg

I actually really dig the little Crayboth, it feels incredibly Lovecraftian to me (Something out of The Whisperer in Darkness (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Whisperer_in_Darkness) perhaps? :)) so naturally I want more of them :p, but this Pit Lurker chap derives his name and colour scheme from a Dungeons & Dragons-esque theme.

This limited Titan Skeleton shares the "Deluxe"-treatment, in that he has a White paint wash (Which was actually kinda sticky when it arrived and I'm sure some of it has come off :o) over Dark Turquoise bones, appearing as if he's been laying in-wait within the bowels of some long forgotten keep. :D

But amidst all this hooha over Skeletons with additional paint apps, the poor old "Bare Bones" Bone Titan Skeleton has been kind of forgotten about - well, to me, he'll always be a winner! :p

So I've gone in on the $55 Pledge Level with enough additional funds that'll allow me to get extras of everything that is available as an "Addon".

Righto guys,

As you can probably tell, the Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter Campaign for the 2nd entry into the October Toys: 20th Anniversary (Glyos-compatible) line of Action Figures, none other than Prince Joshua "Grimskull" Steele! 💀, has officially commenced (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure)! :D

Here's an info-graphic I put together that (Hopefully) conveys all the basic necessary info about the figure, if you'd like? - Please feel free to use said image via any means you wish in order to help get the word out about the project. ;):)

http://pbs.twimg.com/media/COIhN0PUAAAC0US.png:large (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure)

So here is Grimskull, in all his glory; in this picture you can see everything you'll get with the figure via a basic Reward level:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2001_zpsrlrmrlic.jpg

...now, Grimskull you'll notice is somewhat shorter than Baron Dark and the Titans Skeletons and that is because THEY are meant to be the biggest of the bad guys. ;)

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2002_zpsqum5zrl4.jpg

Although he may be shorter, these figures are ALL in-scale with each other and once again, the Glyos Joint System is at the heart of Grimskull which will allow one to pull him apart and be used with other Glyos-compatible toys!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2003_zps9dflovtq.jpg

The first Stretch Goal is at the $54,000 mark and will be Grimskull's faithful companion, the Wolf known as Stalker!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2007_zps4pchijja.jpg

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2006_zpsefnsrs1a.jpg

...this will mark the first time ever in the history of the Skeleton Warriors brand that Stalker with have a toy made of him! But do you want to know something that is really friggin' cool about this pairing of toys?

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2004_zpspboettrc.jpg

That's right! - Friggin' "Glow in The Dark" Eyes!:D

It hadn't occurred to me just how cool of a gimmick that would be, let alone how utterly fitting of the character/s it is.
(Well, I think it's cool as hell anyway... :p)

Just like the previous Baron Dark Kickstarter and available from the outset, Grimskull's campaign will also offer an Exclusive Variant; this transparent black: "Shadow" version of Grimskull and Stalker derive the name from a name that was going to be used for Grimskull earlier in the Skeleton Warriors brand's development. :)

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2005_zpsxqucnzwq.jpg

Lastly, here's the "Addons" breakdown for Grimskull's Kickstarter:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2009_zpss0gygcu9.jpg

Couple of things for people to remember with Kickstarter:

Payment Is Not Required Until The End of The Backing Period.
Payment will ONLY be taken if the project successfully meets its Funding Goal.
The Costs listed will almost always be in US Dollars unless otherwise stated.
Pay close attention to the pricing; There is often a seperate Domestic/Us Price and International Price (Namely regarding postage/shipping fees).
You can adjust the amount of money you're willing to pledge at any time.
You can only select 1 Reward Level, but you can change it at any time during the Backing Period.
If there is additional Figures or "Addons" you'd like, pay close attention to the prices detailed in the "Addons" list - You then add the required amount for that particular figure/addon to your existing Pledge amount.
Keep checking the Kickstarter page regularly for updates.
Remember that a Kickstarter Project needs the support of you & others to succeed, not only financially but by spreading awareness, so spread the word by any & every means available to you.

So there you have it, there's the gist of October Toy's latest Kickstarter - Get in and give it a hand eh? even if you aren't looking to back it yourself, maybe let someone you know who might be interested or just post about it on Facebook or whatever as I know George, Ayleen, Owen & Michael (Not to mention myself and other fans! ;)) would certainly appreciate it. :D

...but wait!

There IS one other Stretch Goal presently shown on the Kickstarter page, what could it be? - I'll give you a hint: It is the linchpin that holds the whole Skeleton Warriors universe together...

JUST 3 DAYS LEFT!

Grimskull's Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure) campaign is presently at $24,596 of the $50,000 total required for this awesome figure to see production - Your help is needed!

Here's an update on what has transpired since the campaign kicked off.

In the last 24hrs we've had some superb and exciting news! - Grimskull's Wolf companion, Stalker, will be included with each & every Grimskull figure AND "Shadow" Grimskull figure; no longer will he need to be unlocked as a stretch goal, he's been shifted to regular inclusion just like the Cape, Staff, Blaster and Alternate Chest Skull. :D

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2011%20Blown%20Apart_zpsdd32neru.jpg

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2004_zpspboettrc.jpg

...also as part of Update #6 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1363757), George & Ayleen have supplied a video in which they further discuss some of the "Behind The Scenes" processes that have gone into the design and concept of their take on Grimskull. :)

The video features the original Shadow(?) and Baron Dark Maquettes, on loan from the guys at the Goddard Group, used to pitch the Skeleton Warriors IP to CBS and other Licensors ALL the way back in 1993/94! - George & Ayleen explain their use, how they impacted their own figure's development, as well as some interesting little facts that pertain to the 90s Playmates Toys line. ;)

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20Update%206%20Vid_zpsrackvylb.png (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1363757)

Another really awesome surprise today was the release of PixelDAN (http://www.pixel-dan.com/)'s exclusive first look at October Toys' Grimskull Figure Prototype (http://youtu.be/91fttB-aoQ0)!

In this great look at the Paint-Master Prototype, Dan (http://twitter.com/pixeldan) shows off a comparison between Grimskull and his original Playmates Toys' self, October Toys' own Baron Dark figure, as well as the various accessories that will come with this wanderer of shadows.
(*Please NOTE: At the time the video was shot, Stalker was still a Stretch Goal, this is obviously no longer the case as mentioned above ;))

Update #5 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1361283) took a focus on the customisability of the 20th Anniversary: Skeleton Warriors line by October Toys as well as the versatility of the Glyos Joint System in which they employ.

Here's just 3 photos fans from around the world/web shared - Make sure to checkout the Update Page on the Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1361283) to see how incredibly creative some people are!:)

Update #4 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1360259) Went into detail about how October Toys sourced many references for Grimskull's look, but that the issue of how the Skull Emblem on his chest was depicted persisted in splitting their opinions in just HOW the final one should look.

In the end they decided that BOTH versions should be included, so that fans could choose exactly which iteration they'd prefer to display Grimskull with; the "Bone Daggers" jammed up through the eye sockets (LEFT) as depicted in his original concept art and toy, along with the Sharp Triangles with Fangs (RIGHT) which is how it was depicted in the cartoon. :D

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2013_zpscqdnnpes.jpg

Not only does this give choice, but it also provides an additional Glyos socket for further functionality and customisation; Perhaps you'll feel that Grimskull needs a skeletal arm protruding from his chest? or another head? - You Decide! :p

Update #3 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1357423) delves into the parts breakdown of both Grimskull and Baron Dark, I was was quite surprised by just how many more parts Grimskull is comprised of compared to that of Baron Dark! Take a look for yourself:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2011%20Blown%20Apart_zpsdd32neru.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2012%20Blown%20Apart_zpsquvg7jvb.jpg

...the brilliance of so many parts and utilising the Glyos Joint System, as shown to a greater degree in Update #4, is that it allows you to combine parts to create new characters...

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%2003_zps9dflovtq.jpg

...but also allows one to create such freaky monstrosities like this chap! :D:cool:

Update #2 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1355226) focused on George & Ayleen's attendance of the "Son of Monsterpalooza (http://www.monsterpalooza.com/)" Horror Convention in Burbank, CA.

They showed off the Grimskull prototype and Kickstarter campaign, as well as having plenty of Skeleton Warriors and Baron Dark on-hand for purchase; here's a pair of photos from said event:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20-%20George%20-%20Son%20of%20Monsterpalooza_zpsp3l7mjmy.png http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/GRimskull%20KS%20-%20Grimskull%20-%20Son%20of%20Monsterpalooza_zpszhwthphg.png

Lastly, we've the 1st Update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1352105) of the campaign: "Piecing Grimskull Together". :)

As mentioned earlier, a LOT of reference material was drawn upon or the creation of October Toys' Grimskull figure; from maquettes, concept art and cartoon depictions, to comics, trading cards and books.

Here's just a snippet of the pieces in question:

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20Update%201%20Pic%2003_zpsnh7s2npd .jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Darkone666au/Crap/Grimskull%20KS%20Update%201%20Pic%2005_zpsahl1cbfi .jpg

Dam, it ain't looking good for poor old Grimskull, if only they mentioned he's skeletors half brother or something maybe he would of been better off!

I think it's been tougher this time round as October Toys has had to once again compete with 2 other Action Figure-based Kickstarters, the world's currencies have also fallen in value against the US Dollar compared to when Baron Dark's campaign ran, a lack of publicity has been hard too I guess...

...but - IT AIN'T OVER YET!

With just 14 hours & $20k to go, Grimskull's hour of need is right now!

Update #7 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure/posts/1365076) brought news of one final new Pledge Level being added to the campaign, this new $40 Pledge Level will net you 1x Grimskull figure and 1x Baron Dark figure - This will allow anyone who's been sitting on the sidelines to get in on the 20th Anniversary: Skeleton Warriors action! :D

The update goes further by sharing some of the Press that this campaign has received from various sites & blogs from around the web, check them out if you think such coverage can't be found in my many posts in this thread alone! :p

*I do GREATLY recommend people checkout PixelDAN's look at the Grimskull Paintmaster Prototype (http://youtu.be/91fttB-aoQ0) though. ;)

There you go guys, short and sweet - Which is exactly like the amount of time you've got left to back & spread the word about this Kickstarter, its success lies in your gnarled, dry & boney clutches - Please Support (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgegaspar/skeleton-warriors-grimskull-action-figure)!
